Root 3.4.2 flashable zip Question

they know about it. Maybe they are working on them right now. Liberty 2.0, Apex 1.6, FlyX 2.0(lol)

good..I was on rubiX for two weeks now but it froze up during a call when another came in..looks like I'm coming back to 3.4.2!

I can test what happens if coming from a custom rom now..:D

I NEED SOME HELP!

So I did the unthinkable and flashed 3.4.2 over rubiX 2.0 rom...nice and all. The startup screen came up like normal, enter my gmail stuff and rebooted, then the phone rebooted again, then everything was fine. I suspect something was up when I tried to install an app and it basically rebooted.

So why not SBF? I did but guess what! it doesn't work! well it works half way..I still have the new kernel and my phone comes up as if it never SBF, btw it's on .320 now with the new kernel that came in 3.4.2..suggestions anyone? :(

I can't install apks without it rebooting and .SBF seems to fail..I'm doom..i hate being a dare devil sometimes :D

anyway I did a factory reset just now, gonna try a SBF again..

do not try to install 3.4.2 over anything. Do a wipe before flashing it. After you have successfully loaded it onto your X, reboot back into stock recovery and do a factory reset. Its an issue that this build seems to have, but clearing data/cache seems to fix it.

Don't do it after you flash it in clockwork as once its flashed the phone is unrooted and most likely will not be happy that your trying to use CWR

If your having issues, make sure to use the .340 SBF and not the .320 as
3.4.2 - .320 might also not play nice.

Thanks! I just downloaded the .340 SBF gonna try it now..will report back..hey at least we know now this can only be flashed from .340:D

and we also know that if someone is already on. 340 they can safely flash this and keep their apps provided they wipe the caches ..from my experience ..I guess some good came out of my daredevil-ness

Exactly, I was waiting for someone to answer this. :D

@ram130 - Thanks to/for you for asking the question some of us were wanting to know.
guys dont ever be shy to ask questions,,,trust me i used to ask questions left and right as everyone else and still do ,,,i never mind answering questions since i was there at one point as well,,,,,now back to topic i have been following this release for about a month since p3 first tweeted about it and am intrigued but love my set up with darkslide now ,,,,is it reallly that nice of a stock rom??

lol..I believe so, especially if you were having reboot/freezes sometimes with custom roms..the updated kernel really made a difference..

I'm gotten over 100hours uptime, gonna try to get that now that I am back on it from rubiX 2.0. Also the fact that you can now theme makes it live able.

The only weird problems I've notice:

*Theres a 10% constant cpu usage by the "system" process which might be because of bloatware, gonna monitor it tonight and see if I can track it down.

*no AM/PM in status bar just so know.

I haven't been using it much, I just loaded it Sunday. But, I am seeing better battery life and I also love the profiles feature in the Moto launcher (it's about the only thing I like about the launcher, stll trying to figure stuff out).
I never really had too many problems with Apex or Rubix, the only other ROM's I've tried. No FC's or reboots, and I am able to overclock to 1.3 reliably. :D I guess I've been lucky.
This stock ROM is quick and stable even with the bloat, I haven't had a chance to remove the bloat yet. I am kind of hoping someone will put out a ROM based on this before I have to do too much work on it. I'm lazy like that, plus my wife gets all snooty if I spend too much time with my toys (I just got a Nook color a week ago) :p

easiest way to remove bloat is via Root Explorer. Its a paid app in the market but one of the most important tools in the Root world.

So, how do you use Root explorer to remove the bloat? I know in TiBu you can freeze them, but that's really not removing them. Do you have to locate the process name and then find the file and delete it? Not sure how this works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
