3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

not that I know of. By definition, an engineering HBOOT is not intended for the public. So at the very minimum, I'd expect HTC to release an HBOOT that isn't the Eng label or version. I would also think the bootloader would shipped locked.

Now, how easy it is to unlock it is up in the air. Sony's phones and Nexus's are trivial. Doesn't require a root exploit. I'm hoping HTC makes it self-unlockable.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I kind of figured HTC wouldn't want that type of file a public release if they could avoid it, but didn't know if it had happened other than leaks.

I am guessing the OTA un-lock or self-unlockable as well.

can someone confirm that they have gotten the port in credit after buying from somewhere other than a corporate sprint store?
the way i read the offer you just need to do the actual porting through sprint. if i get a new contract at best buy then port my number on sprints website it should be straight right?

NO.
I'm almost certain you have to do it through Sprint to get the port in credit. I was specifically told by a Sprint rep that you cannot get the credit if you do not purchase through Sprint.

Port In Credit
last line explicitly states: "This offer is available online, via Telesales and in participating Sprint Stores."

Evo Sweepstakes...Ten up for grabs....

Sprint HTC EVO 3D#

Pretty sweet.

But my cynicism kicked in. What's Sprint's gain for giving away 10 Evos? A lot of people providing their contact info that they can use themselves or sell to 3rd parties for marketing purposes.

I get enough junk mail already, so I decided that based on my odds of winning one, it wasn't worth the snail spam.

Wow, I was almost sure that Sprint would announce the official launch date today. Though I guess the day is still young.... [edit] looks like I read the threads in the wrong order :)

i registered.. thanks..

after registering .. it gave a notice.. winners will be notified on June 23!
so.. again... pointing to June 24 release.

June 24 was already officially announced by Sprint today. Also, Sprint Premier customers can get it online on the 21st.

The sweepstakes are for priemier customers only. They should already have your contact details if they wanted to sell them. I think this is just part of the 3vo marketing campaign.

they may already have your info but that is private.....

registering for the giveaway...also gives them permission to use given info as they see fit for marketing.

I hear ya, I just hope many customers think this way because it'll increase my chances of winning. I have several email addresses. They can spam the heck out of the one I put in for the giveaway.

So its official now 6/24. Well it has been official to all of us "in the know" for weeks, but thats ok ;)

Somehow I'm less anxious now that I know we have a solid date.

My CSR from Verizon left for Sprint and she has been trying for 6 months to get my business account. I ported over 5 numbers last month and I have holding out for the 3D. I sent her a email last week when it looked like the 24th was going to be the date. I asked specifically about the port in credit that ends on the 23rd, and wanted to know if I should get the EVO and return it for the 3D when its available. She told me not to worry because they are extending the port credit again to sometime in July.

Is it confirmed that those who order the phone as Premier members on the 21st receive the phone earlier than on the 24th?

i think they have done this before... so that the customer can get the phone by release date. but if you pay for overnight.. you might get it 1 day early.

NO.

You fill out the phone number details online. So how would they know?

I already preordered at my store but I usually get phones the next day cause I have a warehouse here where I live.

I gave them my email address to send me more information when the 3D became available and i have not gotten anything except from Sprint and only about the EVO 3d.

I mean technically we should get it atleast one day before the 24th.

What would be the point of Sprint saying SP Customers can get it early.

If we order early enough on the 21st they usually ship overnight so we should get it 22nd or latest 23rd.

I think the point is supposed to be if we order it online we can still have it on release day. I don't think it's about us getting it early as much as it's about us getting it on the day it's released.

That would be a bummer if it didn't arrive before the 24th.

Then again. Getting it delivered to my office on the 24th beats going to Best Buy or Sprint after work.

I'm sure at least some people will get it before the 24th, if not everyone. But if for some reason it doesn't come early, Sprint will probably just say we weren't supposed to get it until the 24th anyway.

Yes that is what a Sprint rep just told me it's about being able to get one on the 24th on release day that there not counting on people getting them early. But who knows. I have a Sprint Warehouse near me and usually always get phone the next day. But I already pre ordered at Sprint and can just wait an extra day or two till the 24th now that I have an EVO to hold me over.

This is what a chat rep just told me:
