Help 4G LTE is down, again

I was in the Verizon store trying to exchange my phone for unrelated issues, and when I got up to the counter i said "hey, another problem is poor signal issues... look I can't get 4G." The guy gave me a new phone and a new SIM, and still couldn't get it to work. Turns out it was the network that was down :)

Either way, I now have a new phone, new SIM, and I can't activate my phone. 1x, 3G, 4G is out here, in Albany, NY, as well.

I have nothing...No 4G, no 3G, no 1X...

Seriously...WTF Verizon!!!

yea nationwide 4g issues again. you have to go into the settings and set it to cdma only and you will get your 3g back (might have to kick airplane mode off and on after you set it, i didn't but that was the trick for others).

rumor has it that it isn't the 4g network but has something to do with the system VZ has that authenticates the LTE SIM cards. that makes sense to me since people at work here had their razr lose 4g about an hour before i lost mine, aparently there is a timer for re-authentication and his hit it and failed before the timer on mine did.

also makes sense because after i lost 4g the phone said it was still getting an eHRPD:13 signal (which is the LTE network) but had no mobile network connection. which means i was hitting the towers fine but not able to move any data through the VZ network.

from what i have heard, it actually isn't the network it is the VZ system that authenticates the LTE SIM card to the network. if you notice you won't have 4g but if you go to the settings and signal i bet you are connected to LTE or eHRPD:13 or 14 but the mobile network will say disconnected. that means you are on the LTE network but not able to pass data (due to SIM authentication error in the VZ system).

nothing we can do other than set it the cdma only and live with 3g for a few hours.

it's not just a 4g issue this time - i'm in a 3g only area, radio is on cdma only, and i have no data.

edit: turning mobile data off and back on brought 3g back, but it took forever to connect to the network...almost a full 60 seconds after turning data back on.
