Help 4G LTE is down, again

It says EVDO-rev.A:8

The phone keeps trying to dial *22899 and the music plays for 3 seconds and then the call gets terminated.

from what i have heard, it actually isn't the network it is the VZ system that authenticates the LTE SIM card to the network. if you notice you won't have 4g but if you go to the settings and signal i bet you are connected to LTE or eHRPD:13 or 14 but the mobile network will say disconnected. that means you are on the LTE network but not able to pass data (due to SIM authentication error in the VZ system).

nothing we can do other than set it the cdma only and live with 3g for a few hours.

Mines finally back, out for over 2 hours. Almost didn't get to use a coupon at the mall cause I couldn't pull it up, luckily they were nice and let me use it on good faith. Also glad I finally downloaded music to my phone so I had some.

But seriously, Verizon? This is getting ridiculous. Thought it was just my phone at first, but my lte tab was out too (which was actually kind of a relief, thought I was finally seeing the nexus signal issues).

Oh, and both 3g and 4g were out, even after putting the phone and tab on CD a only and toggling airplane and rebooting. I lost both in the last outage, too.

Did you try to dial *22899 or are you saying your phone is autodialing that? You shouldn't dial *22899 with any of the LTE phones, it doesn't do anything. The phone has to be activated from the sim card, dialing *22899 will do what you describe even when there are not issues with the network.

Go into the data settings and switch data off then back on, EVDO-rev.A:8 means you are on CDMA only and not LTE. You should not have to dial anything with an LTE phone.

It's trying to dial it by itself. It will call every once in a while, try the call 2 or 3 times, and then stop.

Maybe the guy in the store tried it? I did a factory reset just to get it back to where it was out of the box, and now it just sits at the Activating Your Phone screen.

At the very least, it'd be convenient if I could sign in on wifi and set the phone up.

EDIT: Even on the screen that says "Activating" (just a black screen, with a blue progress bar), I can hear it trying to dial over and over.

I'm on vacation in west palm beach area and have barely managed more than 2-3 bars of 3G. Does anyone use a Verizon smartphone in FL? (also had next to nothing when we visited Miami)
Can't wait to get back to DC.

grr, after my post, lost data again. Now I get 3g, none if our devices are getting 4g still. Anyone tried talking to vzw about getting a credit in their account? We pay a lot for this data, and I'd say just with the 2 outages since I've had the Nexus I've lost maybe 12 hours, and more on our other 2 devices.

My co-worker was able to pull up web pages on his iphone 4s on VZ while my GN was not able to connect, even after switching to CDMA only. I'm in Newport Bch, CA.

If not, maybe it's time to start asking. Pro-rated it's not much but it would be a good customer service move to acknowledge the problem and offer something. Maybe some VCast stuff! :D

That didn't work for me. Switched to cdma and toggled airplane mode. Still no data signal.

yea nationwide 4g issues again. you have to go into the settings and set it to cdma only and you will get your 3g back (might have to kick airplane mode off and on after you set it, i didn't but that was the trick for others).

rumor has it that it isn't the 4g network but has something to do with the system VZ has that authenticates the LTE SIM cards. that makes sense to me since people at work here had their razr lose 4g about an hour before i lost mine, aparently there is a timer for re-authentication and his hit it and failed before the timer on mine did.

3 out of 31 days this month is 10%. Perhaps they need to issue a 10% discount on the monthly charges for owners of 4G phones.

Oh, and nice that they're charging a $100 premium on contract for 4G phones when they can't keep the network up reliably.

OMG!!! No data, we are going to die!!! LOL, actually, no one will die and I'm sure it'll be back on soon.

4G is back on here in Albany, NY.

However, apparently accoring to customer service, they have an outage in the system that allows them to register SIM cards.

I now have working data, but since they switched my SIM today, I cannot make or receive phone calls.

That never works for me.
