Now speed will vary greatly depending on many factors, one of which is the load (number of people using it at the time) on the 4g tower you are connected to, also make sure you are on 4g and not 3g. I unfortunately don't have 4g where I live of I would be on it. I link to WiFi while at home

I use on 4g everytime in my area never change to 3g i get full 4g 80% of the time im going to unroot later for see what happening

Actually I noticed this as well. I just haven't said anything bc I don't usually use 4g. But it definitely was at 11 mb now around 2 everytime. Really weird

I'm still rooted and on cm10 Rom. When I first rooted a few weeks ago the test was really low. 4g speed at about 2mb... but now it's back up around 11.

Strangest thing. I was rooted on a CM10 rom and I thought my speeds were low. I was actually getting FASTER speeds on 3g than on 4g. I odin'd back to stock and tested again and I immediately started getting roughly 4-5 times the speed that I was getting just a few minutes before.

Maybe a kernel issue? Could try a different kernel or modem. Im on the new FI27 and its blazin.

I asked over at xda and they said it's an issue with custom kernels. I flashed agat fi27 stock repack and now I'm pulling 10mbps as opposed to 600kbps. Makes me sad that i can't have cm10, aosp or aokp roms if i want 4g speed

I know, hopefully the devs get them tweaked. When i first rooted 'using your well written root', I couldnt find the right JB rom for me, thankfuly thers a lot of ICS roms that are tweaked n modded so I went that way. Thanks again for rooting and sharing with us the method you used.

Okay so maybe I'm not going to be running a JB rom right now lol. You said your 4g speeds are still good, what rom / kernel are you running on?

Im running the BLU KUBAN w the Kuban kernel can b over n under clocked. Theres a few really nice ICS roms utilizing JB n SG3 goodies. MIjjz goodness rom looks real nice too. This Blu Kube is pretty awshom n the AROMA installer lets you customize the rom before the actual flash then it has a rom updater that allows you to further cutomizeyou experience. THe kernel itself is so sweat. try it, you gotta like blue tho

I did the same thing and I can also confirm my 4G speeds are back to normal. I am now downloading at speeds of 8-12mb/s:D. Prior to flashing this kernel I was averaging between 1-2mb/s:(.

HOWEVER...since flashing this kernel, some apps will not install on my phone. It gives an error that reads cannot install onto internal storage or sd card. I have unmounted the sd card and remounted. I have also unmounted the sd card, rebooted the phone and remounted and still the problem exists. Now the apps will install on the phone if I unmount the sd card and leave it unmounted. But if I remount the card after installation and try to transfer that app onto the sd card, it will not let me as another error pops up.

Cool thanks.

This is the strangest thing ever. I never knew a kernel could mess up speeds like that

Oh and for anyone else having issues agat has repacked stock kernels on xda so you can have any tw based rom and flash the stock kernel and still have root and full speed on 4g

I just wish we had 4g service where we live. *sigh* I did update my modem to FI27 and that made my 3g snappier

Where on XDA could I find these? the XDA forums are so confusing to me compared to these

I was having this same issue as well. Stock/rooted per the Sticky root guide which uses AGAT 0.6.8.

To specify and hopefully help others:
I downloaded AGAT_FI27_repack.tar. The xda thread where I found it is located HERE.

I then followed the first couple steps of the root process I initially used to root, from the Sticky on this forum:

1. Boot phone into Download/Odin mode (Vol - and Power till you see SGS2 logo).
2. Vol + to accept
3. Connect phone, look for yellow in Odin
4. Click the PDA button and select AGAT_FI27_repack_2.tar (being SURE you selected PDA, and that only "Auto Reboot" and "Reset Time" are the only other 2 check boxes.
5. Double check all that!
6. Hit start.
7. When that's done, disconnect phone and do a speed test.
***IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS, please visit the initial Root thread listed here since it contains more detail than my summary.

I tested before over several days/times and couldn't get much over 1 mbps. After flashing the new Kernel a few minutes ago I've got close to 6 mbps inside my house. I'll take that for $40/month.

Hope this helps someone. Would it make sense to put that Kernel in the official/sticky root guide?
