6/21 Maintenance Update thread. Rolling out now.

I have this problem also since GB.
If you turn it on; then off; then back on it works and the icon in the top bar will show its on but this is a stupid work around for something I feel would be a single line of code fix.
Really makes me feel my Evo is a cheap pile of crap

Yup.. exactly the problem... And it continues :/ just annoying ... Prefer it to be off, and assume it is, but hell, I can't always tell.

This update doesn't change the bootloader does it? I mean, I already messed up and took the OTA (unrooted stock) and now I cannot root until a new exploit is found :(. I don't want to take this second small update only to upgrade the bootloader again to something that sets us back to ground zero...

I'm not having any issues on my phone. How many apps do you guys that are having problems have installed on your phone? I have 34 apps installed on my device. Have you guys been updating all of the apps that come installed on the phone? Like voice search, blockbuster, flash, etc?

Wow - that's un-called for.
When was the last time you updated the voice search app itself as drexappeal suggested?
it's version 2.1.4 now...

I updated to 2.1.4 as soon as the update was available today after I did the maintenance update. I even posted about an update for Voice Search being available earlier today either on this forum or another. Neither update fixed this issue. It still does not work.

I have used this stock app extensively for six months. It worked flawlessly before the gingerbread update. I have a feeling that if you could uninstall and reinstall it might work again. But as a stock app, you cannot uninstall it.

I apologize if I came off harsh, but on various forums people are confusing this issue with all kinds of crap and even telling us our expectations are too high that it "stupid" to think it will work with background noise. The simple fact is it worked perfectly before gingerbread and now it doesn't.

PS: Vlingo Virtual Assistant, an app that is similar but more cumbersome to use, does actually work. The only problem is that the unchangeable default voice input for the stock messaging and handcent apps is Voice Search. If you could change the default, I could just live with Vlingo.

PS2: If Vlingo (a third party app) works why doesn't Voice Search (a Google Android app) work?

PS3: I've also taken my family's two evos to sprint repair tech once and spoken with level two support twice.

So why didn't HTC/Sprint fix the wireless-N that they took away with Gingerbread?

If they were able to put it in with FroYo, why can't they keep the damn thing in for Gingerbread?

Geez.

not installing for me. downloaded then i tried to install, my phone rebooted and gave me the option to "install now" did that and once the phone restarted came up with the message again, tried it 3 times.

Thanks myriam at first the first download went but it kept telling me i didn't have permission.to download the 2nd one and I tried 4 times and it finally let me now I have netflix back and its working wonderfully thank you!!!!!

Can anyone of the techies out there make a "list" of things that were improved, in this update?

I'm still on 2.2...and I'm very paranoid about upgrading to GB. Thanks.

mine updated fine...Dallas,Tx...Netflix i never uninstalled works great...voice works great...all in all very satisfied

My HTC Sense has now crashed about 4 times since updating.

Shit is getting old. Posting to Sprint and HTC community tomorrow.

So far I can now see attachments in my emails. I haven't check the voice mail issue since I have Google voice routing my voice mail. I also noticed my battery is lasting longer compared to last week.

Still comes up low on space at 43 mb and cant install anything and gmail stops workign until I delete apps and get it above 43mb . this stinks.

How come when I try to open the netflix app it says no application found to open this file, is there something else from the market I need?

I'd like to see Android OS stop development for a few years once they come out with a badass release that does everything well.

Is Honeycomb that release...or is it simply geared for tablets...anything special about Honeycomb? Will the EVO ever get Honeycomb? Will it be a cluster-F*!# as well when that happens?

A couple of issues I'm experiencing:

-A constant flashing of the sync icon in the top bar which is truly annoying. Is anyone else getting this?
-Aforementioned speech to text
-HTC Sense has crashed on me 3 times since updating yesterday. Occurred after hitting Home button to exit an app
-EasyProfiles app has stopped working (this is an app issue vs. GB)

Alright, so I have been googling like crazy.. looking for possible fixes for the Speech to Text/Voice Search issue. So maybe you guys have already found and tried this stuff, but I haven't seen it on here so I'll post what I found.

Here's the first one that I found. It has to do with turning off the Personalization Settings of Google Voice and the voice recognition. I didn't realize that Google actually keeps recordings of your voice on your Google account (online), and uses them to help recognize your voice tendencies. You can actually clear that out online and start fresh! Some claimed that fixed their problem. Link: Voice search broken after Gingerbread update. - Google Mobile Help

Next, this thread actually has a Google employee and Sprint employee recognizing and acknowledging the problem. The resolution here is that the Google Maps update somehow messed up the Voice Recognition. They removed the update and re-updated Maps in the Market, and claim it fixed the issue. I did both. I'm hoping when I get in my car tomorrow.. it will be fixed (fingers crossed).

I actually tried the first one many times with no success. As for the second one, I did a complete factory reset to my phone, which erased ALL installed apps. It did not fix the issue.. I think the people at Google are full of Gingerbread.... LOL

I think Honeycomb is just for tablets.
