64GB version?

I agree with you. It would be nice to have the choice between 32 and 64 GB at a fair price, but they released what they released so....

If they are going to release a larger capacity version, anybody have a sense of when that announcement (or denial) will happen?
 
Its not just the larger memory anymore though, we are still waiting for sim free 4g versions too, what is the delay!!!!
 
Liam, those are for UK providers only correct? Is another version of the Note 2 out over there already?

All I know is the only sim free version in the UK is a bog standard 16gb 3G model.

No larger memory versions and no future proof 4G model. I want a 4G model sim free is this likely?

I've actually asked my friend in Korea to look into the ones offered there. I'm assuming the 32 and 64 GB sizes are available there...that's a normal assumption right? I mean, if its not available there, than it's not available anywhere!
 
I doubt we will see anything larger than 16gb or even a sim free 4g version to be honest and even if we did I would have to pay for an OTT 4G data package. Will be a couple of years before 4G will be same price as 3G.

What is the difference in speed between 4g and 3G HSPDA?

I saw a YouTube video in which someone (International) was using a 64GB Note 2....at least that's that he said it was. When I get time I'll try to find it.

It was Lucidmike. I posted a bunch of his reviews in the review thread. And he's in Korea, which I believe is one of the few countries to offer the higher memory versions right now. Makes sense since Samsung is a Korean manufacturer.

Are the Korean Note 2s compatible with the US providers? I know they'll work with 3G, but not sure of they have these LTE antennae?

4g radios are not compatible, but should work on other GSM providers using 3G, as long as the device is unlocked.
 
Well, for you T-Mobile folks, you're apparently able to special order a 32GB model by calling them directly (not available online as I understand it). Walked into a T-Mob store to play with the Note 2 and asked if they had any 32/64GB models available. They said no but they stated you're able to get a 32GB by calling and ordering directly from T-Mob's 800 number. Not sure if this is legit but worth a try for you Magenta folks. I wasn't able to get a clear yes/no from the AT&T stores so I'll try back once the device is fully released on their network. I'd like a 64GB one myself but don't think I'll be getting my hands on that any time soon. The 32GB would be nice and, if needed, I could probably settle for the 16GB one.

If they are not fulfilling their own orders and there is a shortage of eMMC NAND Flash chips then I would guess it is mostly self imposed by Samsung themselves. Samsung is one of the largest producers of eMMC memory chips utilized in smartphones. They are also the ones largely responsible for driving the market forwards towards greater density (capacity) and efficiency in the eMMC corner. In my eyes they more or less have more control of the eMMC market than anyone else.

Typically the eMMC NAND flash chip is one of the most expensive components in a smartphone. Cost/Margin wise, they can likely make more money per phone by selling only the smaller capacity while still setting the price somewhat high. The price precedent is then self created if they release the higher capacity later for more money, not to mention the production savings they gain.

I read less of a shortage, more of a strategy. Just my opinion.

I can't tell if it's Samsung or the carriers that are limiting the availability of the larger capacity models. My initial guess would be the carriers since the price point for the larger models would be well outside most peoples comfort zone. I would, and still will, pay good money for the 4G 64GB version if only AT&T would get one. Right now, I'll wait until the full release of the Note 2 on AT&T and then see if there is, at least, an option to special order the 32GB version. I'm at the point now where I'm sick to death of waiting and neither AT&T/Samsung will dish out any useful information on the larger capacity models anytime soon. Looks like I'll be picking up the 16GB and just use my 64GB SD card instead.

Probably because there isn't going to be one. :( What boggles my mind is a few sites I've been on which actually show a 32GB in white. Saw one yesterday while I was looking for something else. I think it's bogus knowing there is no 32GB white.
 
I'm an iPhone user looking to get the Note2. Is there an issue with just adding a card to the 16gb version? Can only certain things be saved to the cards? What is the largest sized cards that Android works with?

1) No... there is no issue with adding a card.
2) Only media (music, pics, vids) can be placed on the card
3) 64GB is largest size sd card.
 
So it looks like my plan now is to get a Nexus 4 next week when it's released and sell my Note LTE to pay for that. Once my tax returns come back in January or so hopefully the 64GB model is available, hopefully the international version as I'm on AT&T and want faster updates than they'll do. If not I might settle for a 32 or 16GB for probably a decent price by then.
 
I just got my tracking number for an AT&T 16GB on 2yr contract -
But after reviewing and comparing the features of the International Note 2 to the "AT&T Kool Aid" Note 2, I got a whacky feeling that by April 2013, I'll be scouring Ebay for an unlocked no contract 64 GB LTE version Note 2 which no doubt will be more widely available by then. (unless the new 2013 Galaxy S4 knocks my socks off)
LTE is not that big a deal for me - its not even due to arrive in my area (Central California Coast) for another year, but it would be more future proof.

I'm a gadget geek design engineer and music producer - so I'll find a use for my orphaned AT&T Note 2 (running TouchOSC for Android as a MIDI controller and mount it to a guitar )
