64GB version?

Yeah I'm not going to read them but I believe you because it's very typical of American carriers to mess with devices like this. I'd be fine with not having LTE indefinitely if I can avoid that BS and hopefully get a 64GB version.

I can't tell if it's Samsung or the carriers that are limiting the availability of the larger capacity models. My initial guess would be the carriers since the price point for the larger models would be well outside most peoples comfort zone. I would, and still will, pay good money for the 4G 64GB version if only AT&T would get one. Right now, I'll wait until the full release of the Note 2 on AT&T and then see if there is, at least, an option to special order the 32GB version. I'm at the point now where I'm sick to death of waiting and neither AT&T/Samsung will dish out any useful information on the larger capacity models anytime soon. Looks like I'll be picking up the 16GB and just use my 64GB SD card instead.

I have an unlocked phone and even contacted Samsung looking for the 64GB model but they wwere no help.

I have talked to a few Samsung reps via their online chat, they told me they have released the availability of the other variants to the US, it's up to the carriers if they want to offer them or not :(

In my belief it's the carriers that want to make more cash by releasing them later and having people sell off their current 16gb models and re-buy the newer capacity models, bastards...

I think the carriers are going for what sells the most considering there's been no mention nowhere of anything higher than 16GB for the U.S.

Hmmm... I think that rep is blowing smoke. All the different US variants, while the same dimensions and for the most part, they do have different radios for lte and 3g connection... So, there's no way that rep could make a generic statement like that about all the US carriers. All those higher memory versions would cost each provider more money to have Samsung make the variants with higher memory. Profit margin probably isn't as good, so they figure it was worth it to just go with the lower versions, which will still sell.

Personally, I was a little disappointed at first, but not that much anymore. This phone is amazing. Can't wait to finally pick mine up tomorrow.

OK then if we can't get anything more than 16 gig

How do we get apps. on the sd card?

I would think we need to root first?
Thank you

If you obtain root you can use an app to trick the phone into thinking a partition on the sd card is internal memory, it will even cache to it ;)

Yup. Possible via root

Thanks this is what I will need to do if nothing at store release shows any sign of a 32 or 64.

What is the name and link please for this app or ?

I know thins may not be the correct place for this, but since no 32 or 64 for us usa verizon people and usa in general, then we need to know how to do this.

Thank you

the rooting info will have to come after phone is released.

This doesn't look good. According to
kr.news.yahoo.com/service/news/shellview.htm?articleid=20121012150354558j3&linkid=4&newssetid=1352 (in Korean),
Samsung is already going to stop production of the 64GB model in Korea. A rough English translation can be found on the XDA forums
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927370).
Looks like the 64gb is gone in Korea. I inquired on another forum and got this response:
The 64 GB model is gone...discontinued and recalling any unsold ones.
Spoke with a sales manager at Samsung on the weekend.

Apparently it was unstable and was causing more downloading problems than it was worth.
(quoted from Korean Job Discussion Forums :: View topic - Samsung Galaxy Note II 64gb?)

And my father confirmed this. He was in Korea until Nov. 13th, and a week before that I asked him to try to get the 64gb for me. He also said that 64gb's weren't being sold anymore.

Furthermore, a couple of Korean 64gb's appeared on Ebay two weeks ago. I hesitated because I didn't what would happen if I needed warranty service. Of course those are no longer being listed (but there is another listing for an AT&T-locked (????) 64gb for $1999 ).

F**k.

Thanks for the info!!!!

So I guess 16 gig is the safest and only version we usa verizoners will get, so on next thursday I will get one when they release .

Thank You!!!

That sucks majorly, but thanks for the heads up! I might end up looking into a 32GB one then. The Korean one won't have any problems having everything in English will it? I'll probably use it just as a wifi device.

Also does the Korean version have screen recording or did they not release that on any Note 2s?

Seriously??!! Are you guys kidding me with this "crashing" business? No offense, but this bull crap about the 64 or 32Gb versions crashing and being pulled off the shelves because of it, stinks something fierce.

I read on another forum that all of the manufacturers were leaning away from anything above 64Gb of memory so that people will want to sign up for and $$$ PAY $$$ for "Cloud Services". This makes much more sense from a marketing perspective. Corporations are always looking for more and better ways to take money from us monthly, Cloud Services are the latest attempt to do this. If you have a large capacity phone like the 32 or 64Gb Note 2, PLUS expandable memory to ANOTHER 64Gb, why would you ever want to pay for a Cloud Service?

However, since Apple has already made the move to 32 and 64Gb models of both their iPod Touch and iPhone 5, they're going to need to be able to go somewhere with the iPhone 6. As such, Samsung and the other manufacturers will have to keep pace with them to compete.

Just when I had been swayed away from Apple by the first REAL innovative phone in a long time, something like this happens. I have been waiting for a 128Gb phone for YEARS now, and just as it's almost within my grasp... poof! Thanks Samsung. Maybe I'll just wait to see what the Galaxy Note 3 offers. Maybe Sandisk will offer a 128Gb Micro SD and the Galaxy Note 3 will be able to use it? For now, I'll stick with my 2009 32Gb iPhone 3GS.

You know a lot of those cloud services are free. Google Music lets you store 10,000 songs for free or something like that.

Not sure about that. However it wouldn't surprise me if not many people were willing to buy a 64GB version, especially when Samsung smartphones are compatible with 64GB microSD cards. Maybe the company just decided that it wasn't worth it to produce a very expensive 64GB model, i.e. that not enough people would buy it? I guess this is probably true especially in those countries where most smartphones are sold on contracts and locked to specific networks - networks don't want to stock too many different models as that has its own costs.

I also agree it may not be cost effective to produce a variant that won't get many sales. People claim they want higher capacity and if the numbers supported that, we'd have at least 32GB as a minimum.

Yeah I have to agree that I don't think it would be cost effective. I mean, say they go the same way the S3 did and charge $50 for each step up in memory. Pricing would look like this:

16gb iPhone 5 - $199
16gb Note 2 - $299

32gb iPhone 5 - $299
32gb Note 2 - $349

64gb iPhone 5 - $399
64gb Note 2 - $399

At those price points the general public will take the iPhone over the Note 2. The iPhone is much more popular than the Note 2 because of how many people use the iPhone, so chances are people looking into smartphones are looking into the iPhone already and if they see they can get a 16gb or 32gb iPhone 5 cheaper than they can get a 16gb or 32gb Note 2 for, they will walk away with the iPhone.

That's not even mentioning the fact that the Note 2 is still a niche device. There are a lot of people who think its too big and won't buy it for the size of it alone. I think anything more than 16gb and Samsung would have a hard time selling them to anyone other than enthusiasts.

Even in iPhones, the most popular model is the 16gb.

It won't be for long with carriers ending unlimited data. Watch as Verizon ends their grandfathered data in a few years as well, no reason to keep letting them have all that data for free when they can claim contract expiration and just force you to sign a new one through a loop hole.

The sad part is, even thought you're carrier liberated then, VZW is still the best carrier in the US.

The problem is that all grandfathered and unlimited plans are going the way of the dodo.

So it's wonderful they want us to live in the cloud...of course the downside is you'll likely go over your limits and have to pay more. Not EVERYONE has free wifi ALL the time as awesome as that would be :P I shouldn't have to manage my data usage at the prices we pay...

So 64GB Microsd you're a lifesaver lol

I would have loved to buy a 32 gig verizon note 2 as my siii is 32 gig, but it just does not exists at the moment.

But on a good note (at least for me) I find, no matter what phone I get, siii, iPhone, ipad, etc. . that has the larger sizes available, I end up only installing lots of apps (games mainly that I don't use many) and my findings is it slows the phones/pads down. I find this with all I listed, my wife now has my siii, that I uninstalled lots of games and I have more to uninstall.

It really bogs the devices down (not to an extreem but my findings it does), I think the more memory is great for music, photos, or videos, but it stops there, the more I loaded up these with apps and games the slower they all performed for me.

On my iPhone at one time I had 34 gig of apps and it did slow it down, rebooting etc.. and I also found the same thing with the siii, so at 16 gig at least it makes me keep my apps under control. and I have a 64 gig card for music, videos, photos, documents....

Still would have been nice at least with a 32 gig, that should be the minimum on any phone like this today.

Being on Sprint, I forget that people on other carriers don't have unlimited plans.

Maybe we just need to realize that having 24 hours a day access to all the music and movies we own is unrealistic. I have 352 GB of music on my computer, so I've long ago come to accept that I won't have access to all of it at any given time. I have a 32 GB sd card in my Note, on which I have stored a small sampling of songs that I listen to frequently. I didn't even fill up the whole card with it because I use the card for other things like ROMs and backups. It is what it is. If you want something that's dedicated to playing music and movies, you might want to look into a PMP.

How in the heck did you accumulate that much music??? LOL
