64GB version?

I agree, there are a lot of cloud services out there that are free. However, they are not free for unlimited storage. Usually the "free" cloud service is no more than a few Gigabytes. Thus, my point stands.

Marketers play as close to the role of "drug dealer" as they can. Once they get us all on "Cloud Services" by enticing us with "free" storage, they'll either slowly decrease the amount of storage that's free until it's not worth using the "free storage" anymore, or, once we're all using the free storage, and can't live without it, they'll end the free storage and start charging everyone, along with keeping phone memory at 64Gb or less.

Personally, I have around 114Gb of music, add to that 8 or 10 movies, app storage, personal data and games, and about 1,200 photos, and (for me) 128Gb is perfect! Sigh... I really don't want to give in to the powers that be, but, maybe a way around this is to buy the 16Gb Note 2 and buy two 64Gb Micro SD's. I'd just have to find a way to tote the 2nd Micro SD card around without ruining it.

How in the heck did you accumulate that much music??? LOL

I've been buying music digitally since the advent of the iTunes store. I don't buy CDs at all, and the only physical music I buy is on vinyl. Most new vinyl comes with MP3 copies of the album, usually encoded at 320, so add it all up and it's a lot. I'm also musically omnivorous, so I probably get a lot more music than the average consumer.

@nach.... Awesome analogy. Cloud storage can be enticing. I currently have 100+ GB of DB storage and I'm proud to say I've used 1.5GB.
I prefer physical media and all the cloud storage in the world can't sway me to change my mind.

I have about 200GB of music myself and I'd like to not have to stream it, thus my interest in the 64GB or 32GB version (I would be adding a 64GB card as well). If I have to settle for a 16GB I'm sure I'll survive with that plus the card, but I'd prefer as much locally stored music as possible.

Ah.

Probably? There's no probably about it. You do buy more than the average consumer...LOL. I can dig it!

I thought my piddly 30gb was a lot. LOL

What has me curious is with all that music at what point do you get to listen to it all?
I have a 2TB drive and that's where I store my music and movies only putting on my card what I know I'll listen to our watch often.
Lost count of how many times I've seen Avengers.

I'm with you on that ScandaLeX. I'm the same way about movies as well. I don't care how cheap NetFlix or Red Box get. I want my PHYSICAL copy, so that I'll always have a backup if all of the digital stuff gets lost.

I listen to it at work. Bring in my laptop and play music while I work.

I'll second that. I'm a "musical omnivore" as well. Classical, Hard Rock, Rap, Pop, Opera, Techno, Country, Oldies, you name the genre, I probably have a favorite and a healthy collection as well.

Being musically omnivorous means you can easily get bored with what you're listening to. Thus, if you have a LARGE amount of songs and types of songs, it helps with the boredom. However, it's not always conducive to lug around a laptop, which brings me back to wanting a 128Gb phone.

I mainly only listen to variations of rock and metal but I still have like 40K songs. I get new albums at least once a week, sometimes more.

Seriously??!! Are you guys kidding me with this "crashing" business? No offense, but this bull crap about the 64 or 32Gb versions crashing and being pulled off the shelves because of it, stinks something fierce.

I read on another forum that all of the manufacturers were leaning away from anything above 64Gb of memory so that people will want to sign up for and $$$ PAY $$$ for "Cloud Services". This makes much more sense from a marketing perspective. Corporations are always looking for more and better ways to take money from us monthly, Cloud Services are the latest attempt to do this. If you have a large capacity phone like the 32 or 64Gb Note 2, PLUS expandable memory to ANOTHER 64Gb, why would you ever want to pay for a Cloud Service?

However, since Apple has already made the move to 32 and 64Gb models of both their iPod Touch and iPhone 5, they're going to need to be able to go somewhere with the iPhone 6. As such, Samsung and the other manufacturers will have to keep pace with them to compete.

Just when I had been swayed away from Apple by the first REAL innovative phone in a long time, something like this happens. I have been waiting for a 128Gb phone for YEARS now, and just as it's almost within my grasp... poof! Thanks Samsung. Maybe I'll just wait to see what the Galaxy Note 3 offers. Maybe Sandisk will offer a 128Gb Micro SD and the Galaxy Note 3 will be able to use it? For now, I'll stick with my 2009 32Gb iPhone 3GS.

There really isn't any point in waiting. You'll have to wait around 1 whole year.

The 16GB is fine, even for me. I've rooted and moved the largest games - about 5/6, so that's 8GB of games to my 64gb san disk class 10 micro sd, which was pretty cheap.

I put all my pictures, videos and music on my sd card. All pictures + videos taken are automatically saved on my sd card.

I have 7GB of space free, even with 300 + apps. And a 64GB micro sd card to store large games if I want - perform the same, and the pictures and videos.

If you don't play many large games, like gta vice city, nova 3, modern combat 4, asphalt 7..... there's no need for somebody like you to even root.

As I mentioned before, having 16GB internal may seem like a massive drawback, but it really isn't, you're not thinking clearly about how usable the phone is with 16GB since there's a micro sd card slot for all your media - 64GB is more than enough space.

The note 3 will come out on 1 year. You really don't want to wait that long.......

He is still using an iPhone 3GS. Something tells me he won't have a problem waiting for the Note 3. There has been 3 more models of iPhones that have come out and he hasn't upgraded yet.

A couple of questions please
1 what root method did you use, Verizon won't know will they?

2. What did you use for your games to get them on the sd card.

3. Did you loose any save game or configuration data when you rooted?

Thanks

Speaking of iPhone 5 have you come back to the GN2 yet? :D

This is the method you would use with a Verzion Wireless phone

If you had to send it back, Verzion wouldn't know since you'd unroot and use this app called triangle away to reset something called the flash counter back to 0.

You don't loose any save game data, and when you update it recognizes that the data is on the sd card. but think to yourself, do you really use any large games? If you only have about 5GB of total apps I wouldn't bother rooting.

Traitor! :p
I actually thought you'd be RUNNING back to the Note 2 long before now.

Lol I almost did a couple times. It's not even the money that's the issue, it's the fact I'd be using 2 upgrades less than 2 months apart from each other and ruin all chances of getting something cool next year when the next gen smartphones are released.

I'd cross that bridge when I got to it.
Live in the now; not later.

I just wanted to let you both know that I hate you! Ok, not really.

I am back on the Note 2 and I bought accessories for it as soon as I got home thay way I cant change my mind without losing money lol.
