Root 928 Droid Link

Does anybody know what is up with 928Droid? The link to his site doesnt seem to be working and I was hoping someone knew what the deal with that was.
 
My reason for asking is because Im hoping to get his "Back To Stock" theme. I have his black glass theme currently but Im trying to figure out why I cannot update to the new version of android as well as the new version of facebook. Trying to take it one step at a time so that I am able to find out the reason that these installs are failing.

If nobody knows about 928 droid, does anybody happen to have a solution to my problem as a search turned up alot of nothing (so it seemed).
 
Well, this I know from the other forums. He's not been online in awhile. They said he had been ill or something and were hoping for a speedy recovery. That's all I know. There's nothing official.
 
I don't want to break any rules or anything but I have a copy of that I could send to you...IF...it's alright to do that.

if u can find a back to stock theme you should be able to update. if not. you can download the leaked SBF with 2.2.1 and you should be good to go.
 
As Steven58 said the developer of Blackglass is ill and no one seems to know much more. I also had the Blackglass theme. To receive the latest OTA .340 I had to SBF 2.2 (which takes your phone back to stock) then I received the OTA no problem. Once you are up to date you can root and pretty much do any rom + theme you want.

Alot of info on this forum about SBF. Not a big deal.
 
Would one of you happen to have a copy of the 928 black glass theme. I have been looking for the file that will deodex your droid x and apply the black glass theme. Some help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I am rooted running Birdman's FlyX v0.1 Final rom on Sytem version 2.3.9 if this information will help any.
 
PM me your email and I will send you a copy. However be careful I have heard mixed reviews about Blackglass bricking your phone if you install it after the .340 OTA.

I also have the Back to stock 928 Blackglass

As I just mentioned I have the back to stock theme if you want it. Just PM me your email address.
 
@Brian,

Serious advice. Do yourself a favor and DON'T FLASH 928 OVER .340. Just flash something like ApeX 1.3.1 as it deodexes your phone and won't brick you like 928 over .340 will. I used to use BlackGlassX too and like it, but it's out of date. Follow my suggestion. I look after newbies.
 
Very good advice. I would hate to be involved in bricking your phone. If you liked Blackglass (as I did) you will love Apex.

Yes. I don't see the point of downloading a ROM when I can get the components of it I want manually. So I used those update.zip to deodex and theme, downloaded a gb keyboard apk somewhere else, overclock using jrummys app, and freeze all the bloatware using TiBU. Practically all the benefits of ApeX but everything done the way I chose to.
 
I don't understand all this love of the 928Droid theme. That was my first theme and I don't recall it as being exceptional.

+1 ..i had it installed all of 5 minutes lol ...not taking anything away from the devs obvious hard work but it just wasnt my taste

Easy to answer. In its day it was the first and only auto-deodexer. Because the stickied guide listed it as a newbie way to deodex, until last week, newbies are stuck on it thinking they need it.
 
Steve is right. I bet 95% of the people on, or were on, Blackglass have never tried another theme or rom. It was a great way to get introduced to rooting and theming.

It really is ashamed he is not well. He is obviously a very talented person and brought alot of pleasure to Droid owners. He could probably develop some great stuff if he gets his health back.
 
Agreed.....

it was my first (and current) theme. makes such a difference from stock....

wouldnt mind stepping into another though.... (apex)

gotta figure out how to undo what i currently have (issues getting rsdlite to work)
