a fond farewell

well its time to say farewell to my fellow dx users. last friday i called verizon about the issues i was still having after their troubleshooting. and as the lady was asking me questions and typing as she went, there was a pause. she then came back and said "we need to get you into another device". i couldnt but agree then again i really liked my dx for the parts that worked. so i talked to her a little bit and i ended up getting a new htc incredible with holster, case, screen protector, and extended battery for an even swap in returning my dx. so now im a dinc user. i cant say as to which phone i like more, dx or dinc, because their both great phones. i must say sense is pretty smooth! but the dx with liberty is just as good but better because of the options with liberty.

so to everyone whos helped me with my dx, THANK YOU!!! yall have been great. ive learned a lot from yall. even through disagreements i still learned.

oh and the last thing is about my reaccurring gps problem. the vzw rep told me that they cant trouble shoot gps issues unless im using vz navigator because the rest are third party apps and they dont deal with third party apps, which is understandable. but the great thing is that my dinc gps works great! no issues what so ever so far. hate to shoot my self in the foot by saying that. lol

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the X. I would miss the X's 4.3" screen going to a 3.7" screen though (came from a Droid).

That was the one condition they had was it couldn't be the iPhone or thunderbolt. At one time i did want the iPhone but not anymore. Yeah it's a good phone but I plan on sticking with android.

You switched over to a Dinc because of GPS issues? What GPS app were you using that gave you problems?

How can they say Google maps is a 3rd party app? That's like buying a Window 7 computer from Dell and having their tech support tell you Internet Explorer is a 3rd party app simply because they want you to use their browser instead. Google maps is as much a part of Android as naked girls are a part of a 16 year old boys daily thoughts.

Oh well, hope you have better luck on your Dinc!

My phone will sometimes lock up on Google GPS Navigation. But it certainly isn't worth going to a Dinc for. Good luck with that battery...

agreed with most everyone here in that the inc is a step back from a DX, but bottom line is the phone needs to WORK FOR YOU! I personally would've insisted on something newer, not older. But as long as you are happy, the Inc. is a good phone. Just that a Thunderbolt would've been better! :D

I could handle the GPS locking up. Mine just didn't work. And the rare time it did it would be hundreds of miles away. I talked to dozens of vzw reps and there was no way of stepping up with out upgrading my other line. They wouldn't even change my upgrade date so I could reupgrade mine. And I got the same reason from all of them, they changed policies because of the iPhone. But I like the dinc. And I actually get better battery life than with my dx. I really wasn't expecting to. As far as trying to get them to explain why Google maps was a 3rd party app, here's their answer, "it just is", every time! Got that answer even when I asked why the name, Google, was on the back of the phone.

man, hope you enjoy it....all that matters....:)

That's funny they are sending me a motox because my dinc didn't work anymore. I tried to get the Tbolt but they wouldn't go for that. Enjoy the Dinc, I think its a piece of crap. I hope to have better luck with the x.

A piece? Come on... It's a great phone; I actually think about swapping my dad for his because I want Cyanogen mod NOW!!!

Don't worry. No matter what device they come out with, no matter how great it may or may not be, there will always be at least a few people who regards it as a POS.

That's just the way the world works. Reminds me of a bumper sticker that made me laugh. It goes...

No matter how hot she looks to you, somewhere, some guy is sick and tired of putting up with her shit!

;)

yeahhh it sucks that they won't troubleshoot for googlemaps but I can understand how they consider it a 3rd party app. It's made by a completely different company with their own technical assistance. If google wanted to, they could tomorrow put out an update for google maps that completed severed GPS on Android phones. No way verizon could do tech support for that-- they're independent companies.

Anyway, the GPS hasn't really been working on my new droid x either, but I just use the google location thing and it seems to work (I get the feeling that's the way motorola, or the phone, wanted it... but whatever, as long as Fandango can tell me which movies are playing near me).

Sorry you're switching off the droid x, I just got it and I absolutely love it. (just don't go to blackberry!)

no joke, my storm 2 was the greatest thing I had ever touched... and after a while it started having problems, it would crash all the time, the button stopped working, people fled to iphone and android leaving the app selection barren... and then i found out RIM was developing new features, OS and things for phones EXCEPT the storm 2, basically leaving it to die because it didn't sell well enough. Thanks, RIM, for giving me a phone that was legitimately obsolete after six months because you chose to pursue other interests.

edit: I think the thing that pissed me off most was realizing BB wasn't going to be getting angry birds. Such a simple app that couldn't be that hard to port over, and they just decided we weren't worth the trouble. And they got rid of KIK because they were trying to force us into bbm? lame. i hate RIM.

Honestly, there's no need to hate any of the OEMs. They all serve a purpose for someone. If RIM didn't work for you then just be glad they aren't the only OEM out there and you have your choice of OSs to choose from. Lots of people have tried Android and not been happy with it. None of these platforms are made to suit everyone.

When you find the OS you're on leaves you yearning for something else, simply move to something else and leave your old one to those for whom it does work. Simple as that. No use hating an OS.

:D
