A tease?

I was stuck in my wife's 'friend zone' for 5 years before she finally said yes. Happily married to my bff now for 25 yrs :-)

What are you saying? Did someone slip away with the shy chick?

No lol this was back in 10th grade, maybe 9th too. I thought this girl was just being friendly with me like the rest of the girls so I didn't realize until it was too late :/

Oh ok, I see.

Yeah there's nothing worse than finding out years later that a girl you used to wish would 'notice you' had been wishing the whole time that you would 'notice her'.

:p

oh.. i see... punt the ball .. to her.. and see if she plays or foul ball.

but a shy girl.. even if she likes him..
will try.. and fumble the ball.. (i guess that in itself.. is good and enduring)

Yes I can vouch for that. Once when I was a Junior (oh God, I can't believe I was ever this stupid..... well, ok shy), a chick I had a big crush on asked me to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I was so shocked my initial reaction was just to say no (Jesus I wish I had that moment to do over).

Later on I felt SOOOOOOO stupid I couldn't even bring myself to talk to her! But I can tell you, if she would have pesisted, and kept at it.... I would have definitely said yes. Because I really, really wanted to.

since we are sharing..and about our .. wish for do-overs..

this hot blond in my art class.. we had art class together for 2 yrs.. and I wanted her bad... but i was not confident and she always had bfs. we talk all the time.

one day.. she is telling me how she did a lot of shopping over the weekend.. and got a bunch of new undies.. from victoria secrets.
I just smiled. she asked me.. want to come over after school, and i will model them for you.

i wish I had that moment back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:(

Arrrrrrggggg... I feel that one down in my nut sack, oh my GOD does that one ever hurt!

You were getting laid that night friend. Oh I would have reoccurring nightmares if I'd ever flubbed up THAT badly! Thank you Dan, I don't feel quite so dumb anymore. :D

...... ooooooooorrrrr, she thought you were gay?

Haha, that just occurred to me. But now I'm not sure which is worse... you not getting her, or her thinking the reason you never hit on her was because you like boys?

Oh well, even if she did think you were gay and wasn't looking to score, I bet you still would have LOVED the show! LOL

100% ..I never put out the gay vibe. She new I am straight .
I was a big V .. and got scared. Yes, I would have lost my ..V that night .

I am such an idiot ....never said I was the smartest

On any given day, at any given moment, we're all capable of doing idiotic things. That doesn't mean you're an idiot.

Unless, on every given day, at every given moment... you do something idiotic! :o

So what's a good way to strike up a conversation with this girl? Other than interrogating her of course lol

This is the thing about school. There seems to be a fear of letting someone know how you feel. With age, you realize how ridiculous that is.

As I see it, you've got three options.

1) Walk away... which I don't think you want to do.

2) Attempt to strike up a conversation and get to know her, and use a tuning fork to attempt to figure out how she feels about you (which will NEVER be obvious because of her shyness) and end up right where you are now, but at least knowing a little more about her.

3) Ask her out. Tell her, "There's something about you that I find compelling, and I want to get to know you better. Can we go out some time?".

If she says no, tell her: "Alright then... I'd still like to be your friend."

the worst thing that could happen is you find out that you're wasting your time on her, and need to focus your attention on someone you actually have a chance with.

What dan330, byteware said and this -

Don't be a puss. Just ask her out already. You don't exactly have anything to lose.

Can't give better than that, so here's some more motivation -

There's an old saying - it takes two to tango.

There's another - where there's smoke, their's fire.

It's probable that if you're unsure what to say, she's having the same trouble you're having - she likes you and doesn't know what to say.

You're likely both responding to the same music in each other - and right now, it's non-verbal.

You're the guy - your job is to change it and make it vocal.

The worst that happens is you'll feel foolish. Get used to that, you're a human, that's the deal.

i like your advice.. but the "friend" part...
if you like her.. dont say "friend" to her. if she puts you there... women do not move friends into romantic potential easy.

if she says ..No.
maybe there is other reasons that prevent her from saying.. yes.
shyness, parents, busy, scared... but she still wants to !

only you can see how she says.. "no".
to gauge your reaction to it.
