A tease?

she already probably has an idea that your interested
yet she hasn't pushed you way [?]
just ask, sure it'll be grand

i like your advice.. but the "friend" part...
if you like her.. dont say "friend" to her. if she puts you there... women do not move friends into romantic potential easy.

if she says ..No.
maybe there is other reasons that prevent her from saying.. yes.
shyness, parents, busy, scared... but she still wants to !

only you can see how she says.. "no".
to gauge your reaction to it.

Ehh... that friend thing... ignore most people about the "friend" zone. If a girl likes you but won't ask you out, then you are a friend.

If she doesn't like you, then you are just a friend. Either way, you're a friend.

Don't count on it... I remember high school. Everybody was pretty oblivious about how everybody else really felt.

if they dont ask you out, they may just be shy
that said, most people here dont go to mixed schools, so things are quite different
I was friends with my current girlfriend for a long time before i asked her out though

This thread is a great example of gender socialization in practice. I need to show this to my prof. lol

Ok so as far as 'how do I talk to her' goes, one very simple thing to remember is that women love compliments. That goes just as much for shy girls. The easiest way to strike up a conversation is to find something you both have in common. Such as classes you both take.

"Wow that science test sure was hard wasn't it? I thought I knew my shit in there, but I was sweating bullets the whole time... did you find it difficult too? Or am I just not as smart as I thought I was"?

Self depreciating humor can let a girl know you're not stuck on yourself. Just use it sparingly so she doesn't get the impression you lack self confidence. You want them to know you're confident, but not cocky. So now that you have her talking about science class you could start throwing a few compliments her way like....

"Actually I have to admit, I walked past you in the hall just before class and you smelled incredible! That threw me way off my game, it was hopeless after that, I couldn't concentrate on that test to save my life, all I could manage to think about was how great you smelled. What is that perfume you were wearing that day anyway'?

Then once she tells you say, "ok well please, I'm begging you, don't wear that next time we have a test, ok. Because I really can't afford to flunk that class"!

At this point she should be laughing, so then you make your move and say, "but I'd love it if you wore it to the dance next weekend, and I'd REALLY love it if you allowed me to accompany you to the dance as well".

If she's interested in you, you'll get a yes out of your fair lady. :)

^-- Outlaw, you dawg!!! lol How many chicks did you pick up with that kind of lines in your hay day? :p

Me suspects Outlaw has used that line on numerous occasions LOL ... a tad cheesy but hey, you never know.

It's either that or "Get the hell away from me you creep! Stop smelling me." My first initial feeling was "creeped out". heh

what did i do wrong :o

Oh you didn't do anything wrong! At first, I was just going to make that first post and just let it be, but after seeing what's been going on in here... it really is a great example of gender socialization by the institution of peers. I guess I'll let you all know that I've been really closely analyzing responses and writing a small analysis paper on it for extra credit work in my Sociology class. Some main topics that I've been covering are: gender roles and norms, homophobia, functionalist perspective on gender, feminist symbolic interactionist perspective on gender, and conflict theory on sexuality.

Continue talking! :D

No need - I feel like Vihzel's going to get extra credit for somebuddy's remarks and suggestions. Mine were the best, but I'll transfer the credit to you to help make up for feeling bad. ;) j/k

Seriously tho, I had to ponder that myself for a second, but came to this -

It is after all a public forum. There is anonymity. This could have been done without notice, like a sneak.

Instead - it was open and straight up - so personally not only do I find that in keeping with the AF way, it is after all completely true: we all responded as peers, uncles and Dutch uncles and we did hang that out for all to see in public already.

Now I want to know if Vinsanity93 gets the girl and if Vihzel really does get extra credit for my^H^H our really fabulous insights.

(And yes, I get that the report is about structure and methodology and not specific content. ;))

(Except mine. lma0)

i was jk.... dont care...what and who reads or uses this info.
online forum and all.

but I want to read this essay/report/

Never got a 'get away from me creep' ever. Maybe if I'd said it in a creepy way, but I'm always genuine when I like a girl. So I look for things I genuinely like about her and compliment them on it. Girls love it when you notice things like that about them. They wear perfume because they want boys to notice them. They wear eye shadow. Because they want boys to notice how beautiful their eyes are. They wear flattering clothing so that boys will notice how gorgeous their body is.

Complimenting those things gives them a sense of satisfaction, that they didn't go through all that trouble for nothing. The only way they would respond by calling you a creep is if they already feel that way about you... or like I said, if you act creepy. Like you don't walk up and start smelling their hair. THAT would be creepy.

I thought we were here to help this guy out. You honestly think complimenting a girl is a creepy thing to do? Lmao, wow!

I think it's more of the *goes up to girl and takes a big inhale and smell her up* kind of creepy Vihzel was thinking of, lol.

Well let's present the question to the females who are participating in thos thread....

If when you were in high school a guy you either liked or weren't quite sure yet started noticing you and paid you a few compliments, would you suddenly think he was a creep?
