Root About flashing PRLs through CWM

Download the source code for our kernel and read it. lge_rapi_client.c, lge_diag_testmode.c, and diagfwd.c are a good place to start.

why do i have to do the legwork to substantiate your claim? that seems backwards to me

Why do I have to do the legwork to show you something that I already know to be true? :p

If you refuse to show what you are saying to be true , then all it is is an unsubstantiated assertion. Unless your deliberately intending to be vague and mysterious about this...

not trying to argue lol its just that what your saying contradicts what ive always been told and it'd be nice to have a workaround available but im not gonna put a lick of effort into messing with something based simply (and only) upon your say so that it works. no offense

Dude he's the one who frickin developed everything custom you're now using on your phone, if you've gotten that far....lol

Yup the very vague and mysterious almighty Giantpune:D

giantpune is correct in saying that it's probably possible. It would take some significant work (IMO) in order to figure out how to do it properly. It certainly isn't possible to do it from a standard CWM build.

Alright, sorry its been fun. No negative intentions imposed.......but yes its possible, open your mind young padiwan, feel the force within you.

nope havent had a chance to get that far... (are you kidding me?) didnt realize the two of you were a couple.. thats soo cute. didnt think asking for a screenshot of the shit working was gonna cause such a ruckus. geez , ill go peep the source code for the kernel. wheres the link?

so thats the end of it eh? ill toss this around to some guys at work and see what they think but the one person ive talked to already has said that changing prl's is only feasible through the dialer method on stock roms and the qpst/radiocomm/etc method from pc end.

Hey...no need to be rude :/ prl is literally, just a list of cell phone towers. Maybe there isn't a way right now, and maybe it would take a stupid amount of work to get a way working. But, android phones can run full versions of Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. They can control our house lighting when we are at a restaurant, and do countless other amazingly sophisticated things. So I would venture to say that they can update a file containing the locations of big pieces of metal by themselves. It would be a waste of dev resources to make it happen, but I think it's possible :)

Alright, here it is folks! Not the most astounding graphics, but a little better than stick figures and flow charts....lol

EDIT: free to all, but Kjohns is gonna have to choke up some change.

the app functionality would have to be able to make changes to a file that is being actively used by the phone >.<

Not if you turn on airplane mode. Then it doesn't need any tower info. Or it could do something like ad-away does with the host files, and restart the phone to make changes.

nice interface... does it successfully modify the prls?

[edit: just saw the screenshot]

Can somebody describe to me where in this PC program you would read your existing PRL, what a acceptable value for a new one is, and where the button is to change it to the new one? If I can do that much, then it shouldn't be a far jump to log the usb traffic and see the commands that get sent to the diag module so we can reproduce them.

Logging the USB traffic is exactly what I thought you'd do.

I have to run an errand, but I can upload a backup PRL file for you later and describe where in the program to run the read/write process.

interesting.. curious to see how this pans out. havent eaten my own words in a while lol

What? Joke? are you degrading my credibility As an up and coming app developer? .......well, I never........

the thought had occurred to me as well TBH, seriously i hafta pay? for being skeptical???? (my cynicism was not unwarranted)
