Root [ACS] Shabbykernel RC1

repack lets you edit init.rc which lets for some nice things, but not the things that everyone is looking for

besides overclocking, what other things do we want to have in the kernel

I tried for 2 days to get that stupid samsung source to compile

and failed

Hey Shabby, it looks like we did init.d differently, but I cant figure out how you did it

1. Stability
2. Lean and fast
3. ext3 or sd-ext support. (i'm still learning this stuff) what's that stuff about ext4?? what does it do?
4. any removed features taken out put back in, like built-in wifi hotspot ability
5. easy customization (such and point and click themes, boot ani.s, etc..), including the ability to use cyanogen mods, etc..
6. fonts that work with all standard apps ;P

just to name a few

1) the phone isnt stable now? :P
2) the kernel can do a lot of things, what your mostly asking for is a suped up one that has overclocking.
3) ext2 is the fastest, but there is no data correction.. so you could lose data/files etc if something happens (battery pull etc etc), ext3 includes data checking but is slow, ext4 is ext2+3 best of both worlds, fast and data correction/checking
4) that feature was removed? last i check froyo only had usb tether ;)
5) not gunna happen
6) nothing to do with kernels

:)

so shabby what features you plan to add in the future? oh yea i just ran the v6 supercharger script n it made my phone runs even faster than before :)

1. 0.9 seems to work ok ;P is this RC1 kernel sort of like a 1.0 shabbymod rom?? i'm getting lost
2. meh i'm not worried about OC, i just want a core clean stable system that does the best it can do, which you may have already achieved in 0.9+ but we are just waiting to see if there were any fine tuning you were going to add in some "official" 1.0 release?? no rush
3. ok, so then we want ext4, got it. I'll try to withhold any further questions until i get a chance to play around with the new kernels from you guys, in the mean time i'm guessing that the link2sd vs sd-ext issue is being (or has been) resolved?
4. didn't 2.2 have wifi hotspot ability but then was later yanked (2.2.2), and now we all have to use some wifi tether app in order to use it again? my memory is a bit fuzzy
5. i thought the point of CWM was that now we don't have to use PC-phone batch/flash programs anymore? shouldn't changing stuff be as easy as a rom manager or ACS updater-type, point and choose action? i guess you mean the cyanogen thing is never gunna happen? because it uses gingerbread?
6. is that a rom thing? i'm still learning this stuff, so after i install your kernel, i will be able to see my calc? ;P

I'm trying to get v 6 to run, but I keep getting the not found error please select again line when I choose something.

what progran did you use to run the script? i used script manager

I also used script manager. I even redownloaded Busybox to the 1.8.2 version that was stated on A.C.S. I'm running it at root, and doing everything that the instructions stated, but it seems like I can't set the memory manager or anything.

edit: I'm going to reflash the kernal and see what I can get to come up.

regardless, teh carrier blocks tethering like that, 99.9% of all phones have to have an app to tether (root). only the nexus line can tether for free with built in.

its not guna be point and click, its gunna be download a theme, flash it in cwm.

the kernEl has nothign to do with graphics your calc is messed due to fonts in 0.9, there is a stock theme flasher, or use one of teh others.

It should show Current Minfrees = 6, 8, 26, 28, 30, 32 mb but mines say Prior Minifrees =6, 8, 26, 28, 30, 32 mb.... Did I do it right?

By the way Im trying to install the
V6 SuperCharger script

There is a version of it that it works perfectly with, that is called darktremor apps2sd

located [Script][A2SD]Darktremor 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 [Desire] (01/29/2011) - xda-developers

read this and when you understand it flash it.:D

:D:D:D well nothing really, but I had an early lunch, went to the golden coral with my wife and kids. Its nice to take them out every once in a while. I just wish we could do it more, they get such a kick out of it.:p

I have been trying to get Darktremor A2SD to run and once I flash it in CWM and try to do the commands on Terminal Emulator it is as if it were ot installed. How did you get it to work?

I flashed kernel and it seems to have been installed. I checked in "About phone" and the kernel version was still 2.6.32.9 not sure if that means anything. Either way phone seems to be working alright.

I tried to install a2sd with pretty much the same results....everything went through, no errors, and when phone rebooted everything seemed to be unchanged.

same here, everything (including the A2SD) seemed to install ok, but i have no way knowing, now what?

The phone runs okay.

I mean its great but the heroc runs much faster and has a slower processor

If we can get someone to compile a kernel with a better cpu govern and such that could fix the touchscreen lag that would be great haha.

I would also love Sense UI :P or touchwiz xD

but that's probably not possible?

can someone pls help me out. i was about to try to install v6script but i have to install an older version of busy box. i downloaded busy box installer from market and chose v 1.18.2. superuser popped up and i allowed a couple seconds later installer force closes. thanks in advance
