All Things Froyo

I think this is probably as official as it gets. 2.2 is probably our last update depending on how much bugs.
 
ok, so i just rooted the other day and installed titanium backup pro. when/if I do the "official" froyo update will i still be rooted? or will i have to re-root?
 
Cognition 4 ROM is based off the KB1 build... so if not official, it's very very close to the official build.

Let's wait and see on this.

You can flash KB1 on your phone already if you know how. That's the official update coming out tomorrow. However, I find the GPS is rather improved.
 
To anyone with past experience, how long until a new rooting process is released by dev's after this is pushed out by att?
 
We've already gone thru this with JH7 update. First it was leaked and then the official one came out and there were differences even though the build number was the same.

1. Kies mini 32 bit..No MAC and no 64 bit no OTA
2. Always a good idea to back up
 
I actually do use Vlingo. ButI can't simply touch the headset and say "Call xxx" with Vlingo - if I should be able to do that, I haven't been able to.... A lot of the Vlingo voice commands aren't recognized without Froyo I thought ???? Maybe I just don't have it set up right. Oh for another 10 hours in a day....
 
^^^that's true. They say that while using the vlingo "in car" app you should be able to say "hey vlingo" to wake it up but it never works for me....there is always some interaction with the device-which of course can put you into the rear end of the car in front of you on the 405
 
I'll believe it when I see it. I contacted both Samsung and AT&T; neither one of them could confirm. Granted the AT&T reps are usually the last to know this type of information. I guess we shall see tomorrow.....

so wait, what do those of us running 64-bit OSes do?

is samsung really that shitty to not offer a software solution for updating while using a 64-bit OS? how far behind do you have to be to not make something compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit OSes?

I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I just need clarification. I haven't been around the captivate community for a while.

I'm in the same boat. I don't have access to a 32 bit system. Will I be able to go to an AT&T store and have them perform the update for me? If not, that's BS!!!!

i got kies mini to work on my win7 x64. but samsung said there will be directions on their website tomorrow. im sure there will be a way to get it

I just got off the phone with AT&T tech support asking about the upgrade. They said that I don't need to worry about not having a 32 bit OS on my PC because the update will be available OTA....

I'm still going to try and get mini kies working.
 
So i have the older version of the leaked version of 2.2 on my phone currently. And was wondering do i need to downgrade to 2.1 before getting The official upgrade or can i do it without downgrading.
