It's not like those root folders within the phone subforums will disappear, just the links to them on the front page, right? I think it looks pretty stupid, sorry, there's better uses for such valuable screen real estate.

In a world of scroll bars, I would need serious convincing that value in screen real estate becomes an issue

It's not that its taking ip space that could be better used. The question is, is it useful.

I agree it is messy and perhaps a different approach could be investigated, such as what frisco had in mind.

A general.root forum would be good so ideas can easily be shared cross-platform

I think the poll results do not have much value as it seems a lot of people do not properly understand the question.

Yeah. Could be skewed a bit..

It appears that some are tossed by what "main page" refers to, perhaps thinking that their device's root sub will vanish, etc.

A few other interpretations may also be influencing voting.

One thing's for sure, over 90% care. ;)

Dern me for failing to be clear. :(

I'm not so sure this was foreseeable. To me, it goes to show how many different ways this site is perceived by users. Words like, "main page" mean something entirely different from member to member.

Not to mention what some will view as meant by, "keep it." Keep what? Links? Sub-forums?

Constructing that poll from an average member's eyes would have been quite the challenge, not to mention those of a newer member.

Well we do have a link that shows all of the phones that have root subforums: All Things Root - Android Forums

Sorry, allow me to rephrase. Keeping a link to it like frisco suggests on the main page, and putting device specific root forums in there as is, but perhaps with a general forum, with no specific device attached.

To clarify, go into any device forum here. We have the general forum then with sub forums. Like that

I'm in the minority, but I say dump it. I don't use it and most people don't.

At the rate Android phones are being released, you'll have atleast another 3-5 lines of scroll per month. Now add that to the 5-7 tablets being released and thats another 3-5 lines of scroll. And if you browse this forum on a mobile browser, trust me, it gets pretty tedious to scroll through something that is almost always over looked by most people. If you wanted information about your phone - whether it be technical or root related, you're gonna go to the device forum (for the most part).

I agree with Frisco. The poll options are a bit skewed because most people are confused as to whats being questioned haha. Maybe a new poll with screen shots of what is to be kept/removed would help.

Err, have you seen the number of posts that get moved daily from "Introductions" into various device forums?
