Help Ally V9 SW update.

make sure you have lg's drivers installed along with the manual updater from the lg website reboot and try again. if that doesnt work pm me and we will figure it out

EDIT: Fix seems to be a Hard Reset. (Google if you dont know how).

Its now downloading a update. I believe that an App I had was messing with the Downgraded android system causing it to reboot. And when the device restarted the app started and it crashed it again.

This scared the living crap out of me.

Also make sure you have debugging, stay awake, and allow non marketplace apps all checked. I pulled the SD Card when I did mine.
 
@gaetawoo, Give it time. it took about 6 hours before I got the OTA notice.

@death2all. That's a good piece of info. I know there are a few people on a different forum that might benefit from that.
 
Awesome information and procedure. Yesterday I was stuck at v9. Today I have a rooted v8 Ally. It only took about 20 minutes after downgrading to v6 to have the OTA update offered to me. Thanks a million to death2all110 (I'd love to know where that handle came from).
 
@kdavidson glad to hear its working out great. i feel like a genius in my own right sometimes when stuff like this has been pestering me and i find an ingenious work around that actually fixes it. lol. as for the handle. well i honestly cant tell you. a friend of mine made a handle like this for me ages ago and its been stuck since. i use it all the time. lol
 
Im new to this and im trying to get to version 6 and having trouble. Will not complete, what i nned to know is what file i neede to rename. is it the .RAR file i change or one of the other file i change after i exstract it? that is the part im confused on.
 
@bewing what files do you have? are the all located in one folder? the update tool doesnt like long directory locations thats why its best to have a folder on the root of you c: drive
 
The one part of the directions that confuse me is step 5. It says to rename the .cab file, but when I look at the name of the file I downloaded, it's already got the name you say to change it too. Am I missing something painfully obvious?
 
if you're talking about the v6 file i already named it appropriately lol. sorry. limited web access atm ill be back thursday. currently using barnacle on my laptop in a weak signal area(back country)
 
Just glad to know I wasn't missing something. Okay, with that cleared up, i'm going to go ahead and drop back to V6 so I can get the V8 update. Not that anything was wrong with V9, but I might want to root someday.
 
All went fine, but not without a brief moment of 'Oh Sh@##@t'. Halfway through the downgrade, the manager said it lost communication with the phone and I had to pull the battery out and restart. Thought for a moment I bricked the phone. Second try worked fine and I got the OTA notice 10 minutes later.
 
I had never upgraded to V8 or V9, but i restored my stock rooted nandroid file and when i tried to install the V8 update, it said update failed? What do i do now?
 
the reason why its failing to go to v8 is because even though your rom is "stock" its not fully "stock" so in order to upgrade to v8 you need to flash to v6 and update thru OTA to v8 and then go from there. Roms potentially disable OTA updates so you cant brick the phone. to try to get to v8 quickly rather than waiting for v8 to be pushed to your phone again try using *#*#CHECKIN#*#* after you go to the completely stock LG V6 rom

No. V9 was actually released prematurely. it causes issues with the camera and there have been a couple stability issues. and it breaks root. so v8 is the official update and v9 wasn't really "official"
 
Hi all
I am a total noob and have a similar problem as described before but am stuck in the process of fixing it. I have an Ally that has apps uninstalled and the market will not download anything. Cannot restore market functionality so am trying to update to V9 or revert to V6. I keep getting an error in LG-Utils KP500-Utils-En that says "Error during the loading DLL." What does this mean and how can I fix it? Is there an alternative to LG Utils to load the V9 or V6 update? Thanks
 
Feel like a total idiot now. just found another post that says to extract all files of lg-utils to same folder. only had kp500 utils en before. progress being made
 
So yesterday I got the message wanting me to install an update. It ran and then rebooted my phone. 4 or 5 apps would no longer work and their icons were gone and replaced with generic android icons. The ny times app along with some otheres I cannot even find in the market anymorw to reinstall. When I go to the news cat in market and click top free it just stays loading forever. A few other apps can't be found in the market either- free caddie, etc.

My phone is extremely lagging and slow while typing this... never had that before. Any ideas?
