Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth but is anyone else getting a wee bit tired of all these free games?

It seems like 85% of the freebies are all games.

I'd just like to see a little bit more variety.

yes, couldn't have said it better myself. I would also like some variation of apps.
on another note PewPew2's catchphrase is awesome.. "so i heard you like to shoot stuff" xD

You also have to realize that most games aren't free, and most apps are free to begin with. I have a lot of useful apps that are free to begin with, there's no reason for them to be on the free-app-for-a-day promotion.

If you look through the free apps history on Amazon, it's pretty much a 50/50 split between apps and games.

Looking at the last 18 days in the history, 9 apps and 9 games. Today's freebie is a game that makes it 9 apps 10 games.

I started thinking the same thing, then I realized this:

On a little more related note: PewPew is awesome! I was about to buy it last night, but now I'm glad I didn't :D Pretty good graphics, and I've been looking for this type of game for a while!

I was wondering how do use the controls on this is it tapping the screen or.buttons on ur phone?
You keep your thumbs on the two control pads and move them in a circular pattern until you get to the direction you intend to move/shoot. I'm pretty sure it explains that better in the tutorial.

Cool, I'm going to pick this one up. I read a review on amazon that someone said it does NOT ask for any permissions, how is that possible? Especially with a game.

The permissions are Network Communication (full internet access) and Hardware Controls (control vibrator).

Sorry I got a little behind on the OP, I have been really busy with work lately. It is all updated now though.

Glad to see everyone is finding this thread useful, and even if I go a couple days without being on the forums someone still posts the free app of the day!

I was thinking today...all these free app really helps Amazon get user comments on these apps for future buyers when the app is no longer free. I bet users are more likely to pay for an app that has a lot of user comments than an app with very few comments.

That is slightly incorrect. :p There were four apps and seven games in March and so far in April there have been five apps and nine games. So of the current 25 apps released, there are 9 apps and 16 games (about 36% apps and 64% games).

Apps protected with DRM. Removing the DRM would allow you to run them without the appstore. However this would make them cracked apps and if you can't access the appstore and install them they would be warez which can't be discussed here.
Who said anything about warez? I'm talking about spoofing the appstore app, not cracking the apps they are giving away.

The apps cannot be run without the appstore being installed, meaning there are two ways around it. #1= warez which cannot be discussed here, #2= Amazon appstore spoof app.

Has anyone heard anything about an amazon appstore spoofing app yet?
Why do I care? B/c when/if the second amazon stops giving away apps I am uninstalling their app store and I will need to spoof it to continue using the apps that I have (not to say that they are going to discontinue it any time soon, but they could...).

Even if amazon decides to stop the free app of the day, I don't understand why people are dying to uninstall the amazon app store app. I feel that supporting amazon can only make things better for the user. It's like we want all the free stuff but don't want to support them. I don't understand that. Because of the free stuff I have bought paid apps from them making it an easy experience.

I don't mind supporting them either. However, I don't like the fact that the app is always running and restarting itself, even after force closing it. If it didn't do that, then I would have no problem keeping it installed either.

Do you actually notice it having a negative impact on performance/battery life? Is it killing you or your phone to keep it running? I hate DRM and unnecessary programs running as much as the next guy, but it just seems like this a petty complaint when you are able to get a free app every day.

and hey, i'm all for supporting our President, so long as I don't get hanged for not supporting him.

What Amazon's doing is FORCING our support by requiring us to keep their app store. I love Amazon and I'd love to continue using their appstore, but knowing I have to continue to, no matter what? Ehhh....
