Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

Kindly tell me just what I have to save / backup prior to doing a wipe?
I have been having too many issues with this after forcing the FRG01B hence I figured I'd try the reset as mentioned by others.
I have a lot of Apps that do not show as being on the SD and do not have that option so I assume I will lose all of them/ Also as they might not show in the market being as it will not recognize this build I might not be able to download again easily yet.
What about my camera pics etc in gallery. Is there a method to bulk move them to the SD?
What about the txt's?

Hey,

I may have missed it in the large thread, so if I have, kindly redirect me and I'd appreciate it. After I downloaded the new update, I seem to have lost my playlists. They are still there, but there are no songs in them anymore. All the music can still be accessed and played as well.

Any ideas?

hey i have a question every time i make a phone call the sync symbol shows ups on the notification bar. does anyone know how to toggle that feature so that it doesnt come one while im on the phone i feel like its killing my battery? thanks in advance

I noticed this while I was on stock 2.1, but has anyone noticed that when you are actively listening to music through a bluetooth headset that your WiFi speeds drop to what seem to be 3G speeds? If I pause the music, WiFi speeds go back up. It's still happening on 2.2.

It's as if WiFi and Bluetooth share the same receiver??? And it can only do one thing at a time???

so my biggest issues are that I have had are a bunch of dropped calls for some reason and I hate that you have to go in manually and change the sound settings to go from vibrate and silent mode.

I downloaded 2.2 about a week ago for my Droid. Several problems:

1. Battery is hot and drains fast...I am replacing the battery 3 times a day...even with limited use.
2. Very slow to come up...phone locks, but becomes available after about 5 minutes.
3. Sometimes, not able to answer a phone call.
4. Does not seem to be running faster...BenchmarkPi lists the benchmark at about 2515...(I don't know if that is fast or slow...can someone help?)
5. I've read here that several people have done a hard reset and that seems to help...I suppose I will try that.
6. Disappointed with ability to move apps to SD card...most applications won't move...something I'm missing here?

Hopefully the update coming on the 18th (?) will help.

Try a reset, it seems to help a lot of people. As to your specific questions - as far as I know:

1. Sounds like an unusual drain. What does the "About phone/Battery use" say is using up the battery?
2. See if the reset helps? Mine used to take 30-45 secs to "boot" now takes less than 10 secs.
3. I have had this once or twice, too...
4. Mine is MUCH faster. The Quadrant benchmark scores went from <400 to ~900. I don't know what BenchmarkPi 2515 means...
5. Yes!
6. Apps can only be moved after the developer enables this capability. I'd say that I was able to move about 25%-30% of mine. I expect to be able to move many more over the next few weeks, though, and my short-term space crunch is gone.

As far as anyone here knows for sure, FRG01B is all we're getting, so I wouldn't pin my hopes on Verizon sending out any more releases. They SHOULD send out some fixes, and if it happens, great, but it may be a while. I don't remember how long it was before "update-1" was released for 2.1, but I think it was more than a couple of weeks...

Good luck.

HELP!! I'm going crazy over here. I just forced the 2.2 Froyo update to my Droid and now the phone won't download any apps. I found somewhere online that this may have something to do with google talk, and actually when I try to open the google talk app it won't open. I also tried uninstalling google talk but it won't let me. Is anyone else having this problem with not being able to download apps?

Hi guys,

Tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything directly related to my problem (unless I'm searching wrong..).

Anyways, I just got the 2.2 update yesterday night and this morning, after I pulled some videos off of my phone via USB connect to my computer, I'm getting the error "SD card is damaged." I can't mount my droid onto my computer anymore either, so I can't just copy and paste files over. The only option seems to be reformatting, but I'd want to avoid this until I know there's a way to safely backup my current data.

Also, if I've purchased apps, will I have to repurchase them if I reformat? Or is that something I'd have to deal with the developers?

Man, I was so excited to finally get this update... and now I'm frustrated! :(

Any help or pointing me to the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Im having facebook login problems after manually installing 2.2. It just keeps telling me an error has occurred during the sign in. Please try again later.

Hello Everyone , I just registered this account and ask for help. I like my Motorola Android but I didn't spend much time on the phone and this forum. Sorry that I didn't contribute anything here before.
Today my phone pops up the screen, I think it's called OTA in the forum, asking me to install the update of the system. I did install it successfully. However I found some issues here:
1, the notification ringtone doesn't work. I found it's silent after the installation, then I change it to some other ringtone. Still no sound when I send myself an Email.
2, My phone doesn't ring when people calls me. They can here two rings then the call is forwarded to my voice mail. My phone doesn't have any respond in the whole process unless they leave me a message.
3, The home button (the third soft button from left to right under the screen) doesn't work at all. It won't go to the home screen (like desktop in the computer) when you were browsing websites unless use the return button. Before that I can switch different program with long pressing the button. Now it doesn't work neither.

These are the 3 problems I found. I am not sure if there will be more. What should I do? Can I restore back to the 2.0? Or should I bring it to the Verizon Store?

Thank you very much.
Wililam

This problem is not happening with all my albums but some albums are indicating that the pictures are there but when I go into the album it says picture not found. Yet, when I am on my computer in facebook all the photos are there.
Any suggestions?

Is anyone else having problems with the advanced task killer since 2.2 update? Battery is running down fast because task killer no longer works

Got the 2.2 OTA update today and mostly like it.

One big issue is I am getting the Wifi problem some others report. I think JohnGalt's explanation was spot on and makes sense.
The 2.2 wifi periodically tries to connect to my 802.11N router as N when the phone only actually supports G. So, the wifi works good for a few minutes, and then chokes---as in pretty much dies.
Since I do not have access to my router to force it to "G" only for the moment wifi is nearly unusable at my home.

I hope they have a fix soon

Is anyone else having problems with the advanced task killer since 2.2 update? Battery is running down fast because task killer no longer works

I uninstalled after installing the 2.2 update and it runs a lot smoother. No need for a task killer. Android does a damn good job of managing memory on its own.

I uninstalled the task killer...now my phone no longer runs hot and seems to let the battery last longer. The phone still seems to hang up on boot...takes a while until things start to work...screen goes blank when I try to launch something...but after five minutes or so, everything works normally. I'm hearing people tell me to do a hard restart...I think that will be my next step.

Seems that there are lots of little bugs...I'm encouraged that Verizon would plan an update to fix them.

Hey all, first post here.

I forced the update a few days ago and things seem to be working fine except for a couple small issues. I have a bit of a lag when returning to the homescreen, using launcherpro. The other issue I have is that I cant enable the gps. When starting Google Nav, it prompts me to enable gps and I am able to select the checkbox. But as soon as I exit the settings screen the gps turns off. This happens for all apps that use gps. Has anyone else run into this (I have searched and found nothing)?

As my first post, I first want to say thanks to the admins and top posters on this forum - it's been an excellent resource for us Android users.

Now onto my question... I've done a quick search, but I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar problem (it's certainly possible I just missed it, of course).

I am noticing the speed improvements since upgrading to Froyo, primarily in the browser. But as a heavy user of the hardware keyboard, I noticed that after sending a text message, and then sliding the keyboard back in, the phone seems to freeze up for a little bit when it switches back to portrait mode from landscape mode. Now I say a "little bit", but relatively speaking it's a lot longer compared to 2.1.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Just downloaded 2.2.

Question: What happened to the 'swipe up' 'Applications Pane'. The 'new' phone/screen/google pane covers where the swipe up 'Applications Pane' used to be.

I figured out that my gps issue was due to a broken widget from curvefish... uninstalled and all is well.

I think I fixed all my problems I mentioned above.
I just go to the settings -- Privacy -- Factory data reset. It will tell you all your application and system settings are gonna to be erased, but the SD card data will not. I proceeded and later I activated my phone. The system is still the new one I just installed yesterday 2.2 (FRG01B). Everything seems so far so good. I feel much better now.

I have had nothing but trouble with 2.2.

Here are my bugs:

Extremely slow response time, phone seems to hang whenever making an action such as opening an app, or even navigating the settings menu. I have rebooted at least twice to no avail.

My notification sound was replaced with a 3 minute long mp3 that was in my music folder. Every time I got a calendar event, I had to listen to crazy J-core sirens going off. This was a very frightening experience to wake up to.

Adv Task Killer doesn't work. Can't kill the music apps and others.

Battery life seems super short for no reason.

Can't find the Flash Player in the marketplace. I see the Flash Showcase, but no player.

Music playlists are all empty.

Why. Why did I hit that update now button.
