Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

I don't have a lot of new information to add but I wanted to join the rabble on this. All of the issues I'm dealing with have to do with lag.

It takes three or four swipes to change home screens, the screen usually takes forever to refresh when changing orientations, and when dropping back to the home screen after using an app sometimes I have to wait upwards of thirty seconds for my icons and widgets to load. I haven't noticed any kind of performance boost with the phone, but at least my battery isn't trying to scald me and I have no connectivity problems.

We haven't really gotten a clear answer on this so I'd like to ask it again:

What is the status on getting a download and instruction set for FRG22?

Had a few problems 3g but they are all fixed now

The only problem I have now is that the alarm clock is gone! It woke me up this morning but there is no icon and ii can't find it under applications. Anyone know how to find it or have this problem? I donloaded better alarm clock but I like the original better

^+1
I must have one of the phones that doesn't play nicely with Froyo. The screen responsiveness is terrible when trying to swipe from one to another. Screen redraws appear to be the norm. I also haven't seen any performance improvement.

It's just called "Clock" now. You have to click around a bit but you'll find the alarms.

I use stock email (connected to Exchange server) and messaging apps on my non-rooted, Froyo (FRG01B) D1. The notifications from the stock email and messaging display a solid LED, rather than the flashing LED from 2.1. The only way to get the LED to turn off is to go into either email or messaging to look at all the new messages (going into email only temporarily turns off the LED until I re-lock the phone). My workaround is to turn off notifications on emails (which has helped battery life significantly.)

Anyone know of a real solution?

This also happens to me.... but not _all_ the time. theblinking LED is usually solid, which I don't like.

If you haven't done a factory reset/wipe, then do one! All of my problems with lag have been solved by this.

How to hard reset the Motorola DROID - Know Your Cell

All my Apps (78 of 'em) paid or not, automatically downloaded from market after re-activating and signing on to Google. I believe it is because I have "Back up my data" checked in privacy settings. It was a very smooth easy process. Some paid apps required me to re-enter a license code, but I had all the info I needed in my google email. This does not affect SD card data.

That's a winner! I had SSID broadcast off, turned it on, rebooted and now the signal is fairly constant and steady and the notification bar power meter is normal. Thanks!

Enabling SSID broadcast fixed my WiFi signal issues. I disabled it again and immediately after that my WiFi was still showing actaul signal. But... then I turned WiFi off and on again and the WiFi was back to only showing a dot.

Today when I got home from work I already had WiFi turned on and looked at my WiFi signal from inside my car and it was showing the dot and 2 bars of WiFi. It's as if having the WiFi on the phone on before getting in range solved the problem. My Signal strength is holding at "Good" sometimes "Excellent." Weird stuff!

*LOL!!! So I just had to do it!! I turned off my WiFi and turned it back on and, guess what? My WiFi is only showing one dot, and where you select networks it is fluctuating between "poor" and "excellent" again. That would also explain why turning SSID broadcast on and back off again worked, because my Router resets every time you make a change. Too funny!

An update to my situation:

I did a couple battery pulls and I noticed a slight improvement in my lag and redrawing issues, so I decided tonight to do a factory reset. After letting everything reinstall and resetting everything so it's the way I want it, I'm noticing a marked improvement, but things still aren't quite right.

I feel like I need to press down hard on my screen to get it to register that I'm trying to do something (and indeed, this often works) when before the slightest touch and drag could flip my home screen. Also, homescreens with no links or widgets are less frequent and redraw quicker than before if it does happen, but am I crazy to expect that this should never happen in the first place?

Meh, at this point I think I'm going to wait for FRG22 OTA and hope it resolves these lingering issues.

Baseband is the same as in FRG01B

I never got the kernel, but I know someone has posted it somewhere. I'll look.

Ok I did the factory reset and it helped with the lag a little but not much. I had to reinstall everything. Got a ringer again that's a plus. Flash doesn't work and neither does youtube. Now what?

Correction I can't use my music files at all. So I can only have regular rings. That's noo good. Why is this so difficult and why didn't they test this sh!t before it was sent out? I feel like my phone is ruined. This is the kind of thing that causes iphone sales to rise. This is actually worse after the factory wipe.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but:

1) It has been posted numerous times: Flash does not come with the ROM - you have to install it manually, b/c it is still in a beta state. See http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/106331-so-where-can-i-get-official-flash-player.html

2) YouTube should work out of box. If it does not, try connecting to WiFi if available. If not, then you may have a partially corrupted ROM - I'd try flashing again....

3) It has been tested thoroughly - However, it is not perfect.

Also, your apps will make a big difference in how fast the phone really feels....

I kew about having to install flash. I did. But it still wasn't working. Did a battery pull again and it fixed it. Now I just need to fix my mp3s and this lag and it should be ok. I think that will fix the issues with flash sucking mud.
