Android Tv Box Flexiview FV-1

@kabeza

Thanks for this fast answer.
The apk of UPNPlay could be found here : Download UPnPlay for Android!
You can find a free DLNA server software here : A Free DLNA Media Server For Mac, Windows, and Linux

Worked just great
Here is the little album with pics

Photo Album - Imgur

1) Installed TVMobili, configured. The only problem I'm having is the service trying to login with my account in Win7, but configured a sep. folder where I drop media, and all OK

2) Box plays the file, but seems codec not good or HD looks bad or have to get a Wifi-N router. The player that worked best was DICE Player.

But well. Conclusion: you know these apps can be installed and can run fine, so you have to assure that any android settop-box you buy can run android market or install 3rdparty apps, and voila!

Good luck

Great ! :D

From several boxes I look at or own, this box seem to have best user interface, ie. big fonts, quite new Android Market version, can be rooted, quite a number of new firmware updates.

However I'm confused at the output quality of HD movies from this box. My local seller confirms me that it can play fullhd mkv files and output real fullhd on tv; but many posts here suggested otherwise.

I also play online HD video a lot (youtube, revision3, cnet, etc), can this box output native 720p/1080p?

May be I need another confirmation from here, thanks in advance.

@bthoven

I'll dissapoint you, but my tests with simple HD movie showed that it doesn't output full HD. I have to say that never upgraded its android to a newer one (yet)

The good I can say is that after trying *almost all* media players, the best is DICE Player

Thanks for confirmation. How about 720p from Youtube, Vimeo, Revision3?

FV1 Adhoc WIFI? Anyone???

Hello all. I have tried all the usual tricks for getting my FV1 to connect to an Adhoc WIFI hotspot (my iPhone 3gs with MyWi) but I have had no luck at all. All of the wpa_supplicant.conf "hacks" that I know of do not seem to work on the FV1. (It seems that the device does not know what to do with the "ap_scan=2" line?)

Has anyone been able to get Adhoc WIFI support working on the FV1? Please let me know if you have! I need this!

=========

Also, here is my "mini review" of thr FV1 afer a few days of use:

My FV1 with the latest October firmware is going great. Web browsing, video playback (from HDD and online flash) is very good. Game playback is also impressive. So far I am very happy with my purchase!

A few "interesting" points:

- z4root could not be found in the "Market". I had to manually install this.
- "Superuser" did NOT automatically install with z4root. I was able to install this as a seperate app from the Market. Before I did this, programs did not have the correct permissions to do what I wanted (i.e "root explorer" and "LCD Density Changer" would run, but not allow me to save changes.)
- LCD Density Changer app set at "200" looks great on my TV. (Icons look excellent on the screen)
- Many apps are not available in the Market (such as Facebook).
- Some pre-installed apps wont allow updating in the "Market". They display a "Can not install, app not signed correctly" message... (I wonder if manaully removing the pre-installed app, then attempting to install the "Market" app would fix this???? Anyone tried this?)
- Facebook is pre-installed and works fine, but it keeps telling me that an update is available (inside the app, not in the Market), but I can not update it as the Market cant find it...
- The remote control works but is frustrating to use for long peroids of time. A wireless keyboard and mouse works perfectly!
- Cant perform "Adhoc Wifi Hacks" so far... (please comment if you have a solution!)

Apart from these "chalenges" it is a great device, and all main features work well (many better than I expected). I am using it now to write this post with Firefox browser. :D

Cheers,

Pez

Dice player is good but kills the quality of the video to maintain the the stability.and moreove is paid app
Use mx player good quality and option to switch the audio to software rendering .More over the firmware is free

Hi,

For adhoc wifi connection, have you tried zt-180?

That's a very cool app, but it does not work on the FV1 :(

It gives me a warning that it "cant find one of the required files" (that will be the tiwlan.ini file I imagine?). It goes through the process of changing the wpa_supplicant.conf file but still does not detect Adhoc networks...

I have checked the wpa_supplicant.conf file that ZT-180 modifies, and it contains the same changes ("ap_scan=2" etc...) that I have already tried manually.

It looks to me like the FV1 used the Texas Instruments WIFI chip and config, but without the tiwlan.ini file! How is this possible? Surely there must be another file hidden "somewhere" on the device that needs editing... But where to look!? And what to look for?

Thanks for the suggestion though, ZT-180 will come in handy for my other Android tablets...

Any more suggestions would be appreciated!

Cheers

Thanks. So i can conclude that it can't output even quality 720p.

The seller in Aliexpress just confirm me it can; but I would believe you guys as real users.

If it can, it would be a perfect Android TV Box, and best in the market.

It's pity it won't work with this box; though it works beautifully on my Galaxy Tab wifi (old) model.

I use a program UpNPlay for FV-1....
video files work well.....but the music will not start...!!!!
Does anyone know why....?????
sorry for bad English

Exactly you cannot blame Ali express ,There are a lot of seller selling the same item.A seller never reveals the drawback of the box.

Apart from video playing the box is excellent. No heating Wifi connectivity.

And you can always trust this thread where 100 % true info is provided.

Currently for good video playing use Mx player

Hi everybody, for those who can't find the new market or some applications I do this:

You need:
-android phone
-Astro file manger https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro&feature=search_result
-Es File Explorer https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&feature=search_result

Then:
  • Install from the market the app you want into the phone
  • Backup it up with Astro file manager
  • Transfer the backup file to the FV-1 using Es File explorer via bluetooth
  • Install into the FV-1 (remember to check unknown sources)
  • Back it up with Astro (for future firmware updates)

I used this for the new market and for a lot of apps that I get into the phone but aren't available into the FV-1 market.

Cheers

Hi guys this is the first of probably many posts on my android tv. Got it last week and have to say I am very happy with it despite some annoying limitations. ie the Market choice being a bit restricted when compared with an android phone and the bbc iplayer app not working although I can get it thro the browser.. So far I have used the above method to add apps that were not coming up on the box market list although I used email to send it to the box as bluetooth seems to be a bit inconsistent.
What I would like to know is if anyone has used this method to replace the market app on the box with a phone market app? I have not done it yet as it tells me something about it being an embedded app and I am concerned that I brick the box. (I suspect this would be the same if I tried to replace Facebook app with a phone app)

The other thing I would like to know is should I upgrade the firmware. According to the info on my box the Kernel ver is 2.6.32.9 - M1100160-K11018310#1 Sys Ver R 11018180-S11018180 FRF91.
Can anyone tell me if this is a recent version?

The last question is can someone explain to me in layman terms what rooting the box will give me ie advantages /disadvantages ?

Thanks

Get MORE APPS in the Market!

My FV-1 with the latest October firmware was not able to see many popular apps in the Market. This included apps such as Facebook and Gmail, and many many others.

After performing the following, I have access to these apps in the Market and all is well!

----------------------

Settings -- Applications -- Manage Applications
Choose All
Choose Market
Force Stop
Clear Cache
Back out, choose Google Service Framework
Force Stop
Clear Data
Back out to the homescreen, run the Market (it should fail - that's what we want)
Reboot
Run the Market again (it might fail again - this is OK)
Wait a minute, then Reboot
Wait at least one minute after the system boots up, then retry the Market.

---------------------

Enjoy having access to more apps!!!!

Cheers,

Pez

Once I performed the Market "trick" in my above post, I downloaded the latest Facebook. Unfortunately the latest Facebook crashes from time to time, so I simply went back to "Manage Applications" and "removed updates" from Facebook. This reverts it back to the previous (default) version.

It seems that many people are having problems with the latest Facebook on many different devices. It is possible that with future versions it could run OK. (i.e I think it is a Facebook app problem, not an FV-1 problem!).

It looks like you have the latest October Firmware (see the last few pages of this thread for more info).

"ROOTING" your device allows you, and some applications access to the "ROOT" folders on your device. These root folders contain all of the app and system information/settings/configurations that usually can not be edited. Many apps you find will require root access to perform functions and "hacks" to these areas. (These functions are things that "normal" people don't care about, but we hackers and tinkerers cant keep away... right!? ;)

It's all good fun. Go forth and root. haha

^^^ nx3 is running OLD firmware in his YouTube review. The latest October firmware improves performance (including video playback) considerably.

Thanks Pez your method worked a treat. Would appear to be getting access to more apps in the market ie tv24.c0.uk never appeared before whereas now it is. I also transferred the phone market app using the method discussed earlier and that worked also although that only gave me a different version of the market app but not the increase choice yours gave me.

Would like to ask u or anyone else a rather basic question (put it down to my age !!) how do I move/rearrange or remove a widget from the home screen ? Have tried clicking on widget and dragging it to launcher but all it does is move the whole screen. Can see how to add them to the home screen using the menu -add feature but not how to move/remove.

OK guys forget about the question re moving /removing widgets. Managed to do it with clicking and dragging but it is very hit and miss ie works about 1 time out of 10. Is this the same for anyone else ?

Yes, we're all on the same boat. You should get a WIRELESS (no bluetooth) keyboard/mouse combo, or something like this

eBay - iPazzPort Mini Wireless PS3 HTPC Keyboard with Touchpad, Similar items search

I have just received one of these from DX:

Genuine MC Saite 87-Key 1000DPI Portable 2.4G Wireless Keyboard w/ Touchpad & Receiver (2*AAA) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

It is almost full size, and works great!

I also have one of these (which I think is better than the iPazzPort):

Handheld Rechargeable 2.4G Mini Wireless Keyboard with TrackPad and Red Laser - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

It is a great device too, but for serious web surfing, the MC Saite is the best due to the bigger size.
