Tried to update Bluetooth file transfer app and everything seemed to be going according to plan re the download until near the end when it said "package file was not signed correctly". Anyone any idea what this means and how do I overcome it.

I have had the same problem with some apps that were pre-installed on my FV1.

I have not tried this yet, but you could try deleting the pre-installed app (make sure you clear cache and data before pressing "uninstall"). Then I believe you will be able to install the new version.

If you can make a backup of the pre-installed app first this might be useful, because there is no way to know if the new version will be compatible with the FV1.

Would like to ask u or anyone else a rather basic question (put it down to my age !!) how do I move/rearrange or remove a widget from the home screen ? Have tried clicking on widget and dragging it to launcher but all it does is move the whole screen. Can see how to add them to the home screen using the menu -add feature but not how to move/remove.

you need click and hold it for a while ( launcher will become recycle bin)and then drag to bin.

Does this product work with HDD? I have a one TB one hard drive and I would like to be able to use this product as a media player 720p or HD doesn't really matter to me as my tv is only 32".

Does anybody have a recommendation for a tv or movie streaming site? The ones at the start of this thread; Megamovie Pro, TV Stream and such are no longer in the market.

it support HDD with no problem.
to my experiences, it cannot play HD movie smoothly ( rm, rmvb), some format ok. because for rm movies, don't have hardware decoder, only depend on cpu. and even atom netbook also have problem to do it.

Hi Pez tried what you suggested with no luck. It allowed me to clear the data but there was nothing in the cache so it did not allow me to do anything with it. When I went to uninstal it would not allow me to do anything. Did a Force stop but that didn't help either. Tried to update it again from the market but got the same result. Not a big issue for me but was hoping the bluetooth update would resolve some of the connection/transfer problems I have been having when trying to send files from my wife's phone.

I have two questions.

Can this product be used with a full HDD? I have a 1TB drive and it would be good to be able to use this as a media player with Mobi Player or something similar. I'm not to worried about full 1080p HD quality.

Second, can anybody suggest good movie streaming sites? Megamovie Pro, TV Steam and the other one mentioned at the start of the post are no longer in the market.

I'm planning to buy one of these boxes with android 2.3 which says it can support skype. I'm not sure if this means it can support video calls ? if i attach a USB microphone & USB Camera?

Im in china at the moment. so got some infinite options to buy from. but no demo watsoever .

I seriously not recommend this item for parents or people with little knowledge, and no skype or voice in this device.

No issues .do not waste time for it. Just backup your applications.Go to settings /privacy/and do factory reset.your box will be fine.Later you can restore the apps. A few weeks back i have done the same for the same issue, Just make sure that power shouldn't be interrupted during the restore.

Ive been following this thread and I've mainly been interested in HD iplayer and HD youtube (I've seen that standard 720p files will play fine with Rockplayer )

After searching this thread and generally looking around for quite a long time, I found these devices:

The second one seems to be an upgrade of the first one with a better CPU and I don't really trust the "3D" sign as another more expensive shop has the specs having the GPU supporting OpenGL 2D/3D which is quite ****ty really for a true 3D view.

3D is not really that important at the moment for me (perhaps in five years though!)

Interestingly enough, the second more expensive item lacks an HDMI port, so Im wondering about the actual quality from said items, though the specifications say it has one (even though there is no HDMI port in the pictures!)

It does seem that the more expensive model is clocked at a slightly higher speed (and using a different CPU than the 2.2 devices) so I don't know what difference that will make

Ideally, the device would be used to play at least 720p flash based media from the internet with ease

I'd appreciate any help

The above two boxes have hdmi port. I have ordered the first box which should be with me in a few days. I'll post my feedback as soon as I have a chance to play with it.

For the second box, there is already a post about it in this webboard. It's called r-Box. It definitely play and output native 720p.

It does not help me as the alarm covers my scren and I can not get ride of it, so I can not do any thing.

Try to cancel the the alarm. if it is not possible too no issues either.

you can prepare a bootable memory card and install the firmware.For making bottable memory card you need to read the previous few pages of the forum its easy and comfortable to install

Credits to orignal uploader pippopelo .You can create a bootable image of October firmware on a memory card.Inside is image of the oct firmware and a software to burn the image on the card

here is the procedure
In this packet:

I have included the software "Win32 Disk Imager" and a complete image of my 2gb sdcard UpdateKit with 20111008 firmware.

Download the packet, extract where you wont, open the folder Win32DiskImager, double click on Win32diskimager.exe, in IMAGE FILE locate the file Fv-1_Firmware_20111008.img then in DEVICE select the letter of your SdCard, the press WRITE.



The program write image on 2gb SdCard or bigger.

After burninf just insert the card in the slot and restart the box it will take 5 minutes to update the green light will blink and wait for few more minutes and power off the unit and remove the sd card and restart the device. you are done

yes it can be rooted with z4 root .just enable usb debugging and install the z4root and enable root.

personally i believe there is no need to root as this device as is good device with working backup and restore apps .Unless you are a good and advanced user to work with root. My experience states that whenever i rooted the unit it got corrupted soon.
Rooting is like keeping the home open and inviting burglars.

I won't have trouble with that, and need to have root to install some apps for accesing windows shares, enabling remote ftp, setting up dlna server, etc.

So go ahead enable usb debugging in development install z4root. before doing anything please spare a micro sd card make a bootable card in case the box goes completely dead or unable revert back any setting
