Android Tv Box Flexiview FV-1

Hi all,

If you are using a wireless keyboard/mouse with the FV-1, then here is a mod that I find very useful.

You need root to do this, and an app like "Root Explorer", which will have this modification done in under 1 minute! It's EASY!

Firstly, if you are using a wireless keyboard and mouse, you may have noticed that the "popup" system keyboard gets in the way, and makes typing into things like webpage search fields, username and password fields. etc very very frustrating.

The fix for this, is to rename the default system keyboard app "LatinIME.apk", to something else, such as "LatinIME.apkxxx" which will completely disable it from interfering or popping up, and makes the FV-1 a pleasure to use!

Navigate to /system/app/LatinIME.apk and rename the file. That's it!
A more kosher way to achieve this, is to to install a "null keyboard" - There are a few in Market - Like https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wparam.nullkeyboard
Then you switch between OSK and no OSK by selecting keyboard from settings.

I looked in the market previously for something like this, but couldn't find anything (I think I searched for "Fake Keyboard" which didn't show any results... )

I just found the "Null Keyboard" app and it does the job, however after a reboot, my FV1 seems to re-enable the "Android Keyboard". Are you finding the same thing?

Luckily I don't need the soft keyboard at all, so I'm happy to stay with the renamed LatinIME.apk mod...

If you ever wish to restore the on-screen keyboard, then rename it back to "LatinIME.apk". Easy!

Also, I have found that pushing the "F4" button on the keyboard has the same effect as the power button on the FV-1 remote control. My FV-1 remote now lives in the draw - never to be used again! I don't need it! :D

When using an external Keyboard, the following keys are very useful on the FV-1:

F1 = Menu
F2 = Search
F3 = HOME
F4 = Power ON / OFF
F5 = Volume DOWN
F6 = Volume UP
ESC = Back
HOME = HOME

I hope that helps!

Got one of the mini keyboard and find it ok for moving the mouse and typing but cannot find if it has a "CLICK AND DRAG" function available on the standard remote. ie click and drag down notification bar, clik and drag between home screens etc. Hopefully someone can help as I find I am using the orig control more than the mini keyboard and that would annoy me if it is of no great use to me.!!!!!

Two ways to do this that I am aware of:

1 -Do a fast double tap on the touchpad and then drag - this works for me

2 - Press and hold your left mouse button and drag using your finger on the touchpad. This is what I do mostily, but I use a larger (nearly full size) keyboard with touchpad that makes this easier to do.

I hope that helps!

Hi, I am new to this forum and recently bought a flexiview. I noticed my box has problem with display as it lost the signal for 1-2 seconds after playing each 10-15 minutes. This happened more often when I play some game such as angry birds or ninja kaka or play some video (even the very light weight one, less than 1GB movie per 90 mins movie). I upgraded the box to the latest firmware found in last pages but the situation keeps the same. Anyone has the same problem with me? Is this the hardware limitation or false? TIA

Lost wifi signal or display ?

If its display just replace the hdmi cable and check. get screen settings to 16 :9 & ofcourse check the power adopter It should be intact there shouldn't be any play

Just been to check the FTP site @ ftp://218.17.181.67 and it appears to not be there anymore? Also the orangeearth dot com forward slash FV1 appear to have gone also.

Has this device come to the end of its update life?

Does anyone know of other source for updates?

Currently using October release here, and as far as i know, its still the most recent?

Thanks in advance

Yes, there is an update from the german distributor Hama.

It's full of unnescessary things like games. The main feature is support for qwertz hardware keyboards.

And there is NO google market, only the alternative slideme market !!!
But if you interested in it and you want get google market, you can translate my short howto on another forum. (in german :D )

Android-Hilfe.de - Einzelnen Beitrag anzeigen - Flexiview FV-1 - und noch eine Android TV-Box

And yes, this fw supports english and other languages. :)

Translation .....
Hama has now also provided an update and German-language manuals for download.

The update has support for QWERTY keyboards.
But is about the only positive.

The negative part.

- A lot of useless stuff, like games have been preinstalled. This could also install everything from the Market.

- BUT the market is part of a google on it!
The only alternative is SlideME Market preinstalled.

But for the record here is the link to all the stuff.

Google Market can re-install but very easy.

Here is my solution.

from the old firmware previously secured with root Explorer Market.apk and Marketupdater.apk.

with the existing firmware to backup / restore a backup from the root Explorer z4root, superuser and make all desired apps.

play-new firmware, root. Restore the apps.

Root paste with the Explorer and the Market.apk Marketupdater.apk in system / app.

-Finish. Works instantly without reboot.

I am running the latest fw and I am not having any problems, It sounds to me like you might have a bad SD card.

When I first started using my FV1, I was using a 16GB Kingston card that I got off eBay, which was doing all kinds of strange things - corrupting and showing "Damaged SD Card" message, loosing files, etc (I suspect it was non-genuine.) I have now purchased a genuine Sandisk 16GB card, and all is well. No problems at all.

I hope that this helps.

Iam too using the geniune sandisk 16gb sd card class 4 .You could be right but why its targeting only video files all other files are safe with no errors.

My be Mx player is playing some role any how will update to the old oct verssion ans see.

Yes this is strange. The only thing I can say is that with my "faulty" Sd cards, the problems did not surface untill I started to add and use LARGE files, like videos, and .zip backups. Small files (under 100mb) appeard to be fine...

I am not using Mx player so I can't comment on that. Good Luck!

Which player you are using ?

For almost everything, I am using MoboPlayer - it seems to play almost everything reliably. I don't personally care about full HD 1080p blah blah - I just need to play my downloaded movies/tv shows and it does that well for me.

Using ES File Explorer app, it even plays my videos which are on my PC, over my LAN, over the wifi connection. Great!

Thanks, contacted the seller and he confirmed that the problem of low quality hdmi cable. Will replace to see if it gone.

Hi guys,

I'm new here, only reading the forum for weeks now. I wanted to buy an FV-1, but it turned out that I found an FV-3 with Android 2.3. I've choosen this one because webcam and voicechat is working. However the name on the box is really FV-3, but it looks totally the same like FV-1. It has cortex 9 (800 Mhz can be set up until 1.2 ghz) and mali 400 GPU. Do somebody have the same construction?

does netflix provide any free stuff.

You have to subscribe to Netflix by either paying monthly or yearly fee. Then you can play all the movies and series from Netflix without any limitation.

I believe you can try it for free for a month.

If you are not in US, you need to use unblockus service (7-day free trial) so that you can access Netflix from outside US.
