Any Time is Grillin Time

That is really neat! Mostly that you spend so much time with family. Been grilling pork chops, hot dogs, brats and steaks. Sounds like a lot but only because it has been so long since I posted. :)

There are actually 3 roads in our area. They all dead end and all have the same starting point. Think of a straight back chair facing west with the seat extended a little bit. Yesterday we could have used a traffic cop with all the traffic. Drove my dogs nuts. People don't come up here to grill, they come up to party and let off illegal fireworks.

Dang.. I hope they didn't set the place aflame. I was in Az over the 4th. No crazy fireworks there. Mater of fact... it didn't seem like the 4th at all. I guess one would get accustomed to little fountains and sparklers but sure seems weak in comparison to what goes off around Kansas. We try to blow the place up... and almost succeed each year :)

I missed my opportunity to see that grill I mentioned. Plans changed and we partied at my son-in-law's place again. We had a lot of left overs from the previous nights sooooo... we just snacked on whatever and called it good. And it was good.

I used to live in Colby, KS and had a consulting job in Denver one summer. It was kind of neat driving back on the 4th and seeing the fireworks in all the little towns along the way.

We do it up in a big way around here. A decade or so the mortar fireworks became available to the public.
From that point on... it's been crazy. Lots of fun however. My normal 4th will include a bbq and fireworks over the lake in my son's neighborhood. Very pretty, mostly safe, and you can't go wrong with any good bbq.

That sounds way good. I grilled out burgers tonight. It wasn't steak.... but hey, it was pretty darn good.
We do chuck eyes often. My butcher saves to best marbled ones for me. Sometimes they are good and the rest of the time they are excellent. Good luck with your steaks.

Our daughter is coming up today, so I will grill some steaks Saturday night. The bad news is, we took our dog to the vet for teeth cleaning yesterday and she needed to have one pulled. So she can't have the steak bone for a week or so.

Going to a Smokehouse bbq in Texan style in a few. It's in the low sixties and clouded, but who cares 'bout that, eh?

Yummy! This smells heavenly.

Too bad for your dog jbenham... good for you though. Enjoy your time with your daughter, I know you'll enjoy the steak. :)

Man that looks good Kaat. If it's as good as it looks, you are way too full to talk about it.

Yah, it was good. Hence the rough pics last night. We were served by one of our national and European top grillers. Pulled pork, brisket, and ribs were more than fine, but that chili sausage was perfect. Desert of grilled banana with marshmallow and chocolate simple but delicious. We were stuffed indeed. And had fun with other guests :)

You gotta love that new grill smell :) Sweet deal! All comes to those that wait.
I have an infrared burner on the back of my Jen Air for the rotisserie. It works great. I hope you'll give a full report on the new grill.

@Kaat72 It looked wonderful. Sounds like it was fun too. Good for you two. We have some smoke houses here but they are nothing to brag about. I like my efforts better than theirs. I did once dine at a great bbq place in Phoenix with my oldest daughter and her husband that was considerably better than anything I've ever eaten. It was a fun night. I got to meet Dorothy McGuire. She had stepped out the back door of the establishment with her husband while their driver brought their car around. She commented on my pipe smelling good and I commented on how I always loved her music... I'm a huge fan of the war time tunes... blame it on my mother lol. She seemed appreciative that I recognized her and was a fan of her and her sister's music. .....To be honest, I wouldn't have recognized her at all if not for my daughter pointing her out to me while we were eating near their table. I guess they ate there often. It was just chance that put us both at the back door at the same time. Me grabbing a smoke and she waiting for her ride lol.

I've got the grill going as I type. Tonight I'm grilling some rib eyes. I've had them bagged up in beer, spices, and marinade for a couple of hours. I'm grilling some asparagus spears too. Wrapped in foil with butter and Parmesan cheese. The wife is fixing some baked potatoes. I'm ready for a good meal.

I got in from work late so I tossed together some hamburger steaks. It sure wasn't fancy but tasty. Quite a bit better than a peanut butter and jelly.

lol... I think that's more effort than I've ever given a PB&J. I'm heading for the river this weekend. It's been a month since I've been down there and I'm going into withdrawal. Besides needing mowed in a big way... I'm ready for some camp cooking. Looks like I'll be cooking for eight. I think it will be a burger and brat weekend. Perhaps some potato chunks and onions grilled with butter. I might just roast some corn on the cob too. Hmmmmmm... I'm getting hungry :)

I heard they already put your place up for sale because they didn't think you were coming back. :) Your plan for the weekend sounds good!

Back in the day where there was no propane exchange and one had to refill somewhere.... I ran out while grilling steaks for family and company. I pulled the guts out of the cooker and piled in some charcoal. It worked. Improvise...

I have ~6 20# tanks (one may be past the 12 year certification) and 2 30# tanks. If I run out of propane it is my own damn fault.:p

I'm going camping this weekend so I think I'll bring a couple racks of ribs and my smokerbox for the grill top.
