Root Anybody running CM7 source?

Wow... 52, 53, and 54 all today... geez!! I'm running #51, and the only issues I'm having is not being able to run 3D fps screens in Quadrant (hopefully the hardware accelerators will be added soon), and I can't get into my Sound Settings (immediately force closes every time). Other than that, it's all good, so I'm gonna stick with this one until we have RC1.

#55 should post tonight as well.

Watching this one very closely. Haven't flashed anything since 41 and awaiting a stable release. Great input from everyone!

that is it the builds are done and the CM7 nightly build zero is now up in rom manager form XDA the build 0 is number 56 to all of us crack flashers

Flashed Build #0 last night from ROM Manager (noticed this morning that #2 is already up), and it is ultra-smooth.

My 3D graphics still don't work in Quadrant, but in SetCPU I can max out the low and the high and set to Performance and make successful Quadrant runs about 50% of the time. My scores are ranging from 1300 to below 1650 in Performance mode. Not as fast as I'd like it to be, but feels very fast and very smooth in real world use.

Still can't get into my Sound settings.

Did a full wipe before installing.

All of the CM builds I've flashed so far are more than adequate for daily ROM use. They're not perfect, but are quite stable, and all the important stuff works... it's really just minor things that aren't quite right yet.

I have no problems with any of the settings ... If need be try and goin to your settings from spear parts

Just tried that, but didn't see anything there for sound settings.

This is the most aggravating complaint I have. I wasn't able to change my sound settings with CM 6.1, either. I don't know what the deal is.

I realize that others running CM do not have this problem, while others, like me, do. Doesn't matter how many times I wipe before installing, my sound settings force-close every time I try opening it.

Have you tried just flashing the ROM then checking sound settings without flashing anything else? You flashed a theme? Different kernel? Titanium restore? What radio you using? HBOOT version? Are you wiping cache partition and Dalvik as well as the factory reset?

There are so many variables that I would by trial and error try to find the solution and narrow it down. If it does not bother you that much than I would leave it be :)

Those are some very good ideas. THANKS!

I'll be flashing another nightly soon (though I always say I don't have the time for all the setup) and next time I'll wipe the cache partition and Dalvik as well as the factory reset, and I'll try the other ideas you mentioned.

Have you ever run a fix permissions?

My guess is an app that's being carried over from 2.2. Do you use "restore missing apps + data" option in titanium? Check the list that comes up and only install market apps. I had to delete probably 20 items that were 2.2 related stuff.

Another thought is a sound management app that you may have but most other people don't making a small subset of users susceptible. If you have any apps that manage sound, try leaving them behind until you can verify if it fixes your problem then try reintroducing to isolate it to a specific app. If you have any deleted sound related apps and they dropped a folder onto the SD card while they were installed, delete the folders from the card.

Im still new to the whole flashing thing but gettin the hang of it :) I flashed to the CM7 and also the google aps for it. I liked how it runs, but I am still kind of partial to SR3.5 with the Ziggy471 bfs kernel. One of the reasons is the (forgot what its called) but the popup when you hit the menukey has white text on white background so cant read it and can't see where to change it. The other thing that is something that I am probly just missing is the lack of widgets like having the clock/weather and email. Another SR3.5 feature I like is in contacts I can link my FB ones with the gmail ones and don't see how to do that in CM7..

Is this all just something that I'm overlooking or are there aps out there to cover this (pref-free aps)

Other than that I like CM7 just used to BB-storm so the Sense based Roms are little more familiar :( but trying and learning :)

Keep us posted when you find out it works or not :)

This is the only thing I miss from Sense. A dev recently pulled the .apk for it for me but it doesn't work, it needs sense. I d/l Fancy Widgets and it almost does the same thing but not quite. I still have the apk, perhaps I'll try it again with #4 build. I'm not holding out hope. If it works I'll post the file.

I'm using Beautiful Widgets and really like it a lot. If you haven't tried it, you should. Clock and weather widget combos.

I heard the BW is really cool, perhaps I'll give it a shot. The thing I liked about the sense widget is I could have two cities' weather on it. With a swipe up it would show the next city. And the animations were pretty neat too.

dude i have been using beautiful widgets for a while now and love it because i can match it my background and have different animations for the weather

Just saw the video of it and I like it. But the question is can I have multiple cities? Give me that and they get my money.

From what I can tell, I don't think it supports more than one city at a time... however it can follow you and give you stats for wherever you are.

Having multiple cities is kind of cool though... I can see why you'd want to keep that feature.

Weatherbug Elite is also a very nice weather app. It has a live Doppler radar feature that is very, very cool for watching a storm live. I use it when storms hit more as an app rather than for the widget because I prefer the BW widget.

Either of these would be great apps to run on CM7.

I am sure you can I have mine set on gps but you can put in diffrent zip codes as you please
And it will give you that weather

Thanks for the info. I have Fancy Widgets running now, no animations or multiple city yet. First one that gives me that is a winner. The FW version is free that I have but they also have a paid version which I would buy. Decisions... decisions. I'll probably buy one real soon just not sure which one yet. I wish the market would let me have it for an hour and not just 15 minutes.

I have herd of FW dose it let change the clock and weather skins?

Multiple zip codes? The Sense one was GPS enabled and changed when you moved around. But it also allowed me to set one that never changed. It worked in all sense based roms but I cannot get it to install elsewhere. I wonder if an adb push would install it? Hmm...
