Root Anybody running CM7 source?

yeah i am doing right now but verizion in my state is down right now haha and i wanted to make a call too AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

new firmwear as of which build?

I dont even know what a firmwear is, but i want the new one damnit!!! LOL

I cant say this enough. I hope most people flash every nightly. The problems encountered are the only way to test each build. The more using each one, the better chance all the bugs will be figured out quickly and the RC/stable releases come quicker.

Just my opinion, but other than donating (which people should do), testing each nightly is the best way to pay back those who are working so hard for our benefit!

/soapbox

(Maybe a MOD/ADMIN could merge this and the other nightly thread now that there is only nightlies) - Ignore this. For whatever reason they are up to build 57 which was put up yesterday...... not sure why

I assume, then, that Koush and Cyanogen are monitoring these threads to see how things are going?? --

If they really are monitoring, then of course, I will flash daily and give feedback. This is by far my most favorite ROM, and if people like me flashing the nightlies is something they depend on, then I'll be doing my part. ;)

By the way... flashed yesterday's nightly -- # 12 in ROM Manager -- and like #5 before it, this is near-perfect except for the lack of hardware accelerators, but other than that appears to be exactly the same.

The only issue I can find anywhere as far as bugs go is that my bluetooth volume seems like it just about always is minimized when a call comes in. Definitely is minimized when rebooting or changing batteries, or the like. It would be nice for the volume to boot up at the last setting.

I dont know if they monitor THESE threads, but they are all over XDA constantly. Usually if you post a bug, within an hour or so youll have feedback from one of the dev's

That is good to know. I'll have to keep an XDA tab up on my laptop and post there as well. I think it would be a great idea for them to make an ongoing list of phones they will work on putting CM onto, as this will be my deciding point for choosing my next phone. If there will be no CM, there will be no sale from me.

CyanogenMod | Android Community Rom based on Gingerbread is a good place to find things out.

What is CyanogenMod - CyanogenMod Wiki has a list of supported devices.

Just flashed Build 14, and it is much faster and smoother than #12. #12 was a bit of a downer for me... kinda choppy and overall did not perform as well as #10 for me. Tomorrow I'll find out if I have any bluetooth volume issues.

Something I noticed with #10 (worse with #12) was that DSP Manager would not work (though enabled) from time to time without rebooting (after which it was fine). Hopefully, it won't be necessary to reboot with this build.

Did you flash over #12? Or do a wipe first?

No, I haven't wiped since the last 3 installs. I just don't have that kind of time if I'm going to keep up with the nightlies. If I wipe, then I need to wait til the weekend in order to have the time to get everything set up again. Restoring is fine, but I still have lots to do to get it where it was prior to wiping. I don't think these issues are stemming from not having wiped. They were there to some extent a few builds ago even after having wiped.

Ugg... I am so far behind on these. I went from #55 to #6... now I was about to install #12. I guess I will go for #14. #6 has been choppy for me.

yeha go with 14 ... man i am all up to date on xda stuff and there is starting to be no changes between these builds just very minor tweaks and the only thing that is lacking is the hardware acceleration and the new sayher invisi kernel that is still in beta but should be put in the build here soon

Can you imagine how smooth this will run with hardware acceleration?

I recently flashed a stock sense rom, and was blown away how slow it felt. you right, this is going o be great. It's already the fastest thing around!

yeah i cant wait till this goes RC but from what i herd they may wait till one phone other the the nex S to have gingerbread so they can make sure its up to par so when GB is officially released sometime this Q we may see an official RC from CM7

Once in a while I can post a benchmark in Quadrant with SetCPU maxed out and set to Performance mode. Usually scores a 1400 to 1550. That's not bad, but it feels faster than that. As it is - right now - it is very, very quick, fast and smooth. It helps a lot, of course, if you have all animations turned OFF so that you just go from app to app, or screen to screen in a fraction of a second.

All I know is that CM7 is going to kick royal ass when they finish it. I'm about to send in a handsome donation for all their hard and extremely productive work! ;)

I'm so obsessed with modding phones that I'm driving my family crazy.

For those who dont wish to help out the devs and flash every night, I would suggest flashing to #20 (as soon as you are comfy it is stable enough). Has CPU settings in Cyanogen Settings. If you are a week behind, the scrolling power widget in notification bar is sweet (and you can move them around).

#20 is absolutely breathtakingly fast and stable. Best build so far in my opinion.

I noticed they added CPU Settings. I wish they would add a 90-second delay to this instead of just a "set at boot" feature. If the CPU setting is too high, it can throw you into a horrible bootloop that is hard to break out of, and a 90-second delay would prevent that from happening. I put an overclock app that does this on my daughter's X, and it works remarkably well.
