anyone buying a RAZR/Rezound with the full intent to return it?

With my corporate rate, I have a 30 day return policy....:D AND I still have my Verizon acct with my Droid put up till I get my new Verizon phone. So I'm still grandfathered on unlimited and am using one killer phone. Is there one of these GS2's that work on Verizons network? I'm not sticking with T but man I want this phone....

So out of the two, you'd go with rezound?

I'd say its really up to the person! I really liked the Razr to be honest. But I'm a big screen Guy....and an issue like the one I saw on mine was terrible..something I wouldn't be able to over look! And honestly I'm just not in the mood to go.through 5 devices to get one thats issue free...I've been through all that with the EVO, Incredible, and Fascinate...to name a few...lol!

So would I pick the Rezound?

Well I'm typing this on it right now, and I must say its a sweet device. When I returned my Razr ...the gentleman said hey we got another new phone in...would u want to give this a try maybe? I'm a phone whore, how can I resist!

To those that like HTC..Go grab it....it's the best phone that HTC has to offer on vzw....

As for me? I'm over HTC....I'm not a fan of sense anymore....I've come to really like the elements of Motorola's current blur scheme ...as well as the look of they're hardware and what not...I just like how everything flows to be honest.

But with the Bionics crappy camera, and black screen of death issues...

And now the Razr with a possible screen problem...

I'm once again going to wait for the Galaxy Nexus I think, and roll the dice with Samsung.

Yeah Samsung and me have had a bad relationship and HTC and myself have gotten along great lol

I'm hoping CM9 comes soon as the source code got released today since I use wifi tether a lot I'm probably gonna hook up my Rezound on my second line for a few days as wireless tether on my EVO kinda blows

Good luck brother....hope u like it!

I'd try to get her to hold off until until Sunday the 20th. That way you have until 3 Dec to make the 14 day return period. If you do it now you're betting that it wont be delayed until after Black Friday. Of course if we hear something from Verizon in next couple of days, then you're in the clear. Or I'd go to your local Verizon store where you intend to purchase to ensure they UNDERSTAND the part of the return policy that you have outlined. I know I've had problems with people understanding things that are outlined much clearer.

after this news from VZ today, is anyone else considering it?

i am planning using my sister's upgrade on the nexus and giving her my thunderbolt, but she simply cannot wait any longer on a new phone. Her droid has a broken screen and will power itself off for hours at a time with no way to turn it back on. i am seriously thinking about buying a RAZR with every intent to return it the day the nexus is released just so that i can get the 'bolt into her hands now. if i make her wait any longer, she is going to use her upgrade and i will be stuck without a nexus until november 2012.

VZ seems to be seriously screwing themselves with this new return policy along with keeping us in the dark on the nexus. if they would just provide a release date, i would not be tempted to buy a device i know i don't want, but my sister is getting tired of me telling her "soon" with no other information. if no info on the nexus is out by thursday this is the route i am going, $35 restocking fee be damned.

My OG Droid is beyond pissing me off now. I've wiped cache and data and reflashed stock, BB, and CM (which runs like crap on my phone) and settled on BB but it's still sooooo slooooooow and I keep getting the low memory error even though I have hardly any apps installed. At least with CM7 I didn't have the low memory problems (but my phone runs even worse). I can't take it anymore, as I'm missing phone calls because the phone is slow to load the calling screen that people have generally hung up or the call has gone to voicemail before it even loads to allow me to answer. I'm missing text messages due to the low memory problem. Doing simple tasks takes forever.

I've been waiting and itching to upgrade, mostly because I could tolerate the Droid, but the last few weeks have been downright painful with the missing of calls and I just can't take it anymore.

Once I see confirmation from VZW of the reported holiday return policy (I think they did this same policy last year), I'm going in and picking up a Rezound. I hate buying something knowing that I'll probably return it, but I've been going back and forth between the Rezound and the Nexus, so I'm going to use this opportunity to test drive the Nexus.

With ICS source released now, who knows, maybe even ICS ROMs for the Rezound will be close to completion before the return window closes and I'll have more reason to keep the Rezound.

$35 restocking fee is worth it to me, even if the Nexus is released next week. 7 more days with this phone is 7 more days too long! I'll gladly pay the $5 per day ($35/7) fee to test drive the Rezound and switch to the Rezound and solve my crappy phone problems for the time being.

At the end of the day, I need my phone to be a phone and take calls and my Droid is 50/50 on doing it's main job.

From my experience, VZW's customer service is pain especially around holiday season, and $35 isn't worth the trouble, so I will just wait.

Doesn't seem right to buy with the full intent of returning. Seems related to looting in a way. Just bc there is a policy allowing it you shouldn't take advantage. Honor the intent of the policy so Verizon doesn't cancel the policy in the future.

The policy its intended to help people who weren't satisfied with a purchase. If the policy goes away we all get screwed in the future.

I would totally pick up a Rezound and return it, but I'm afraid I'll get screwed. Here's my fear. I'll get the Rezound, and I'm sure it will be a good phone, but I want the Nexus. The nexus is delayed until mid December (totally speculating, but again, this is my WORST FEARS) and then is so popular that it sells out before I can get one. The new stock doesn't come in until after the exchange windows closes, and boom, because I was impatient I can't get the phone I REALLY want, and I'm stuck with my 2nd choice for 2 years.

As for current phones, I was using a DroidX which I loved, but when I left my old job in late October I couldn't bring it with me, nor could I bring my number, and it wasn't worth fighting my employer over it. I got a Bionic, and I HATED it. It was a downgrade in every way for me, except the raw horsepower and LTE speed. I returned it and got a prepaid phone to hold me over until the SGN comes out. The only choice I have to go on a smart phone before the Nexus comes out is to go with a Motorola Q that my new company had propping up a table. So it's either a burner phone or a Motorola Q for me until the SGN drops.

Now that it passed FCC today. I think we'd better wait at least until the end of week before buying others to hold you over to Nexus. I feel like we will see solid date by then.

Crankchic, I know how you feel. I was using the OG as well and its slowness was about to make me throw the thing under a speeding bus!!! I went to the Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobil till I decide which to get; the Rezound or Nexus. Leaning heavily towards the Nexus, but man! This GS2 is so fast and smooth, I really had NO clue what I was missing. Lemme tell ya,you'll definately appreciate the speed difference and smoothness once you get away from that dead phone!! It is SO nice. I want nothing to do with that Droid anymore. Don't even like looking at it, it was frustrating me so much,lol....

well, i am headed out to join the new rent-a-razr program. nice to hear some other opinions on the subject, but i don't have a choice any more. either my sister is using her upgrade to replace her droid today, leaving me without one, or i use it today on a razr so she can have my thunderbolt. i do feel bad about it and i wish there was another way to get my hands on a nexus, but if i want one, this is the only route. :o

I really am tied between the Rezound and the galaxy nexus.... I like both of them, but not knowing the release date for the SGN and not having an sd card slot are leaning me towards the Rezound.... What I'm wanting to do is buy the Rezound outright tomorrow to see if the battery life is better than the Thunderbolt and to see if I really like it. But I also might possibly return it within the 14 day return window and pick up the SGN. Can I buy the Rezound out and then return it (possibly) and pick up the SGN?

Verizon extended return period for this holiday season until 01/09. So you can do so if you buy from Verizon store. Or you can buy from Bestbuy with 30 days return window. I heard they don't charge restocking fee for return. You may buy from Costco with their 90 days return window, but it's not clear if they will carry nexus in store for exchange.

This return policy looks in some ways similar to Best buy's general purchase Christmas policy. Helps get people to start buying Christmas presents early. Last thing you want is for the person you bought your gift for 2 months early to be stuck with it because they can't exchange/return it since they don't like it.

With that said. Why go through the hassle of purchasing and returning? Dang, you have a pretty nice sister. I know I wouldn't even give a second thought to letting somebody else use my upgrade.

Thinking of pulling the temporary smartphone trick, especially considering the fact that I absolutely must ship my Thunderbolt out for sale tomorrow (I sold it on www.swappa.com; cool eBay-like site for Android devices) and I don't want to go 2 days without a phone. But my question is, since the GNex will likely be the same price as the Rezound/Razr ($299.99), if I bought one of those two phones now and then returned it, would I still be able to get the GNex at no additional cost (besides the $35 restocking fee)? If that's the case then it looks like I'm getting the Rezound tomorrow :)

How has you experience been with swappa?? Reliable site?

Use Peter Alfonso's GPA ROM. It will make your life much better :-)

Also, follow these instructions to get some extra juice out of your phone.

Finally, make sure you have a hardware accelerated launcher (like Launcher Pro). Also, Opera Mobile is a hardware accelerated browser that makes browsing a bit smoother too.

screw that. I say abuse it!! Its verizon's own damn fault for not announcing a date. They want to beef up Razr and Rezound sales by being tight lipped about the Nexus? Well, that's exactly what they will get, along with a bunch of returns when the Nexus is finally released.

In all honesty, they probably could give a rats ass if you do this anyway. They will be making out like crazy with their $35 a pop restocking fee's which will more than cover the loss they sell it for as refurbished.

Since I pay the majority of the plan with my mom/dad/sister/brother-in-law enjoying their $10 add on option, i feel i deserve first dibs on every upgrade. :p

of course, this does not apply when they actually NEED a phone, but between 5 lines worth of upgrades and hand-me-downs, everyone is usually pretty happy.

What about if the phone is activated before Xmas? They may not honor the return period. This is only my assumption but it looks if you buy the phone as a gift not as an upgrade then you can return it . Somebody should probably check this out before everyone starts doing this.

i asked and was told that the return policy is, and always will be, exactly what is listed here:

Return Policy - Verizon Wireless

since it does not say anything about activation or buying the item as a "gift", they will take it back for any reason as long as you have not damaged it.

So I got my Rezound today and I gotta say I'm some what disappointed so far . I don't know if it's the fact that I haven't used stock sense in a long time or if it's the device but it's much more sluggish then my Thunderbolt with CM7 at 1.5ghz .. The screen is great but outside of that I'm pretty sure I won't be keeping this phone
