anyone buying a RAZR/Rezound with the full intent to return it?

Use Peter Alfonso's GPA ROM. It will make your life much better :-)

Also, follow these instructions to get some extra juice out of your phone.

Finally, make sure you have a hardware accelerated launcher (like Launcher Pro). Also, Opera Mobile is a hardware accelerated browser that makes browsing a bit smoother too.

Thanks. I already run gpa 18 as stated in my sig and use launcher pro, but did not know about the things in the link. Doesn't matter though, I'm renting a Rezound now.

For those wondering, my receipt states the return policy in agreement with what has been posted around the web. Return is honored though Jan 15.

So far I don't love the Rezound. I just don't care for skinned android. If i was sure I was keeping the phone it would already be rooted and relieved of the bloat too.

But it is light years faster (of course) and *imagine that* can answer calls! Rent-a-Rezound is worth it.

The sales guy even said, "Well you have 14 days. If the nexus comes out you can always return this phone and get the nexus."

Except for the part where he doesn't know the return policy, he was already reading my mind.

He also said the gnex wasn't coming until December...

So if the phone is activated now, you only have a 14 day window?

No. Got the rezound tonight and the rep said only 14 days.

Manager went and called someone and came back and said it didnt matter if it was activated or not. Specifically, they didn't want people to buy phones and not activate them.

So I have until Jan 15 to return. It's not the 9th it is actually the 15th of January.

Id just check at local corporate store before buying.

The return policy is stated on VZW as being valid through Jan 15 for purchases Nov 15 through Dec 28 (i think).

I also have my receipt for my Rezound and it says returns valid through January 15 minus the $35 restocking fee.

They did this same policy before. I know 2-years ago the same policy was in effect when I bought my OG Droid on Christmas Eve.

I received my Rez. yesterday from Verizon and it says on my customer receipt that I have until the 15th of jan. to return it :D

So if the phone is activated now, you only have a 14 day window?

I was told the return policy for Verizon was 30 days and not 14. The 14 day policy, explained to me from Radio Shack, was if anyone wanted to cancel their contract without paying ETF. After 14 days you are "locked" into your Verizon contract but can exchange the phone with another device ie. GNEX or Rezound within the 30 day period as long as it's still a Verizon phone and you keep your contract with them.

Really?? That surprises me.. Your expeirencing lagging or its just not as snappy as youd like?

Ya know that was my first day and it was running slower then I thought it would but after using it for a almost 2 days I've gotta say this thing is actually very fast . Things load instantly , the camera is really fast and takes amazing pictures compared to any other phone I've owned. The screen is beautiful , I think the direct sunlight viewing is decent better then my Evo or Thunderbolt . I'm still returning it for the Nexus when it comes out thou
it's just not enough different from the Thunderbolt I need a little more change and the Nexus with ICS, huge Amoled Screen (always liked amoled) and curved looked will do that for me

I'm glad to see that most people are doing the right thing and holding off. Come on everyone, this is just a phone. You are going to plop down your money to get something you don't want just to be a thorn in VZWs side? That is some selfish motivation... I bought the bionic because I thought I would like it. It totally stunk in the camera department otherwise I would still have it. If thre is genuinely something wrong with a phone that you bought with the intention of keeping it there is no issue. If you go out and buy something just because you are so selfish that you can't wait a week or so then you have some serious hangups that may need psychological attention. Plus you are going to cause those of us who wait for the phone we want additional delays while we wait for you to finish your returns. I know one thing, if I end up not getting a SGN on release day because a bunch of jackrabbits returned their RAZRs and Rezounds I'm going to be pretty miffed.

I thought I would like it, its ok, it has been lagging sometimes, it has a task manager and it was low on memory, with everything killed and not running, total memory 817mb and used is 564 and 253 free  so I have old crappy Verizon flip phone at home and I`m thinking I`m just going to return keep my new Verizon plan since I`m a new customer and wait the nexus

I didn't buy my Rezound with full intent to return it I was so on the fence between the Rezound and Nexus that I knew the only way to decided was to buy both of them . I really like the Rezound and if the Nexus weren't coming out I'd keep it and hey maybe I still will . I have to upgrades available so I'm gonna buy the Nexus as well and keep both phones for a few days and really decided which one I like best before returning it and givng Verizon an extra $35 plus I only paid $194 for my Rezound My guess is I'm not gonna be offrered the Rezound at the same price so I'll probably be giving them another $100 so I don't feel like it's taking advantage of anyone especially since if I do decided to keep the Nexus they get an extra $140ish

My Thunderbolt I have now is fine if I had not been on the fence I wouldn't have even considered doing that but my I just couldn't decided . I was so on the fence I almost considered not buying either phone and just rolling with my Thunderbolt which is an awesome phone

I bought the Rezound on the 15th from a VZW store. I was waiting for the nexus, but after seeing the specs on the Rezound i figured i'd give it a try and return it if not satisfied. So far, it's been good, but the battery life isn't that great. I don't use it that much during the day as I'm stuck behind a desk plugging away and by lunch time it's down to around 50%. The headphones are a nice touch and beats audio player is the best "native" android music player app i've seen so far. I do think that once it's rooted it will be on par with the nexus

Even if i do decide to stick with the Rezound, i'll be returning it anyways to VZW and getting my money back and buying it again of Amazon wireles...can't believe i spent an extra $70 for the same phone. However, if the nexus is in fact announced/released this upcoming week, i'll be returning it for the nexus.

Actually, some people are getting a phone because they aren't sure which one they want, so they buy and try. I've gone back and forth myself over the Rezound vs the SGN.

And some people are gettng a phone now because their current phone IS THAT BAD and has been THAT BAD for months now but they keep not buying a phone because they want the SGN. I'm in that situation. I'm not saying what I'm doing is right or wrong, but I'm doing what I need to do and am allowed to do because my existing phone didn't function as a phone anymore and hasn't for a while now.

That doesn't change whether it is "right" or "wrong" to purchase a phone knowing it's probably not the one they will keep, but you are wrong on your statement that people are doing it just to be a thorn in VZWs side.

Plus, there is nothing "wrong" about buying a product one intends to return. It doesn't break any rules, so it's pretty much not wrong.

It might not be the "ethical" thing to do but it's certainly not the wrong thing to do.

Just sayin.

How about "anyone buying a Nexus with the possible intent to return it for a RAZR or something else?"

this could be me if all this hype does not deliver

I picked up a Rezound to take advantage of the double data deal for 4G LTE phones. When the GNex is released, I'll check it out in store and replace my Rezound with it if it appeals to me. Even if it doesn't impress me, I'm still happy with my Rezound. Win/win.

I too need to jump in for the double data deal. I am upgrading from a midrange phone. I wanted to just get the Nex, but I can't let the data advantage pass by.

Doesn't seem right to buy with the full intent of returning. Seems related to looting in a way. Just bc there is a policy allowing it you shouldn't take advantage. Honor the intent of the policy so Verizon doesn't cancel the policy in the future.

The policy its intended to help people who weren't satisfied with a purchase. If the policy goes away we all get screwed in the future.

Hence the introduction of the $35 restocking fee..which wasn't always there..I'm sure the intent was slow down returns like this, but I'm sure VZW doesn't mind the $35 parting gift for those that insist on doing it.

Looks like as of today worst case scenario is Dec 8th. I can wait until then to try out the GNex and decide between buying it or the Rezound.

Played with the Rezound at the store and was impressed with it. So far I like using Sense over Moto-(no)Blur's interface.

Worried about the GNex lack of USB OTG support. Also listening to rumors about the LG Optimus LTE coming soon...

Decisions, decisions...

Question, if i test drive the rezound and the nexus just happens to be delayed past the exchange window, can i return the phone for 100% refund and go back fo my poor droid charge...?

For what it's worth, I lost my upgrade eligibility by buying a phone (Droid X2) and then returning it with the desire to get a Thunderbolt. I would have had to pay full price if it weren't for the second line on my account.

Dunno how strict they are about enforcing that, but don't screw yourself over. They wouldn't bend for me at all.

I work for a verizon retailer and im doing this, picking up my razr today and returning it for the nexus. if the rep complains or has an issue with it then they need to find a new job as processing a return is easy and quick, who cares if it takes an extra 10 minutes.

One thing to be careful of (craighwk's post reminded me of this) is not to return the phone but to exchange it, if you return it then go in the next day or even an hour later then theres a good chance your upgrade will be gone( if it's an annual or NE2 upgrade, this is because we no longer have those).

I'm a little worried now because my receipt has no mention of the extended return policy like many have mentioned. Yet I was assured several times by my rep at a corporate store that I was indeed allowed to return it activated or not during this time. I guess I'll run by next week to make sure I'm not stuck with this phone.
