Anyone else disappointed that the DroidX doesnt have a frontfacing camera?

It's a solid phone and it'll sell like hotcakes but I was really hoping there'd be a frontfacing camera on Verizon so I could videochat with my friends on that carrier on my EVO. Oh well, I'm sure they'll roll one out before the year is over. At least Skype is coming to iphone and android so I'll be able to chat with AT&T folk.

I'm not disappointed because I have an EVO :p

But makes you wonder why these companies build such complex phones and yet always manage to leave something out that everyone else has, or wants (guess thats how they get you to spend more on the next version)

anyone else disappointed that this thread is in the EVO specific forum?

they shouldn't be because its about me wanting to use my EVO to videochat other phones. our ability to use our phones features that have value only if other phones have the feature is a relevant topic of discussion.

well make it a thread about all the other phones that you can video chat with.

Let's focus on the positive~

I agree to both!!

who needs a droid x when i have an evo?!

i have an evo because I'm with sprint but people locked into verizon don't have an option to videochat still, which means we can't videochat with people using the nations LARGEST carrier. Ya'll are missing the point.

I am not disappointed. I rarely even talk on the phone with people when I have Facebook, text, and IM. I find it highly unlikely that I would move from text to video chat if I don't even want to call them. lol

I'm not disappointed. I've never wanted to video chat. Maybe one day I will, but it will be years I am sure. (I don't skype or have international call needs either).

I'm also not disappointed that it doesn't have 4g either. I don't live in a big city and again, it will be years before 4g ever hits my area.

What I am excited about is the fact that it works on Verizon which in my area works much, much better than Sprint.

I agree. The more front cameras on phones the better. Hell hopefully AT&T lifts the video call restriction and allows video calls on its 3G network for the iPhone 4 (although that's not their priority right now with their network in the shape its in). I'm the only person I know of out of my friends and family that has an EVO. The more the merrier, we all benefit. Verizon has already said they'll be implementing front cameras in future phones so the Droid X may be the last superphone we see from Big Red without a front camera.

Who cares if other phones have it or if you are the only one with an EVO. This isn't an iPhone buddy....You can video chat with anyone who owns a computer and a webcam.

EVO for the win here! Everyone else is so last year : )

It makes the concept of video calling more popular period.

I have to disagree. I think there are a ton of people that use Skype on computers for video calling. We are just that much special in that we can know communicate with them while we are mobile........

I'm not disappointed, I think it is still, spec wise, an awesome powerful Android device. A front facing camera won't be a dealbreaker for many. In fact, I'm running froyo on my evo right now...I gave up the cameras for froyo.

i dont want to be 'special' in that i have a feature that has more value the more phones that have it, but no others do. It'd be like an IM client that 'we' had that no one else used...pretty useless. Skype is coming to android and to apple, which will make videochatting more of a real option instead of a novelty. I like bells and whistles as much as the next guy, but i dont want to be locked down to just other people with EVOs or people at their computers. I want to be able to videochat with my girl or my friends anywhere. Thats all I was trying to say.

Well then if your girl has an EVO there will be no problem with that.

I am just saying, at least we aren't limited to who we can talk to. Everyone I know owns a computer with a webcam. Laptops have them built in. Why should we have to worry that iPhone users can only talk to themselves and over wifi. Sucks for them, not for us!

Yes, we are on mobile devices, if they don't have the frontfacing camera. My girl CANT get an Evo because she has to be on Verizon. That is a situation facing many many people...they can't switch carriers.

I'm disappointed that the X is stuck on Verizon...they are quite possibly The Evil Empire in wireless company form...
