anyone get the update

Ok so if the original word was that it was 5 days of updates pushed, yesterday would have been the 5th day. So why would it take until Friday for some of us to get it? I'm really annoyed. Where the hell is my update?
 
So I woke up to the update this morning not knowing there was one rolling out. I was hoping it would be 2.2, but I guess the fact they haven't forgetton about us Ally users is good enough.....for now. Still want 2.2

I have noticed the Android theme and launcher are running a bit smoother.

New pre-installed apps:
City ID - shows the city/state of an incoming call just below the number. This is a free 14 day trial and then requires a subscription. Not happy with this since it is just taking up space and I'm not interested in a subscription. My caller ID works just fine, and if I don't know who's calling me...the city and state is not going to make a difference.

Skype - I love Skype, dont' see a problem with this. However I already had Skype installed and could not launch it after the update. I had to uninstall Skype and reset the phone for the pre-installed app icon to appear.

Corporate Directory - don't know what it is, don't need it, don't want it. Personal phone for personal contacts. Sounds like it belongs on a Blackberry. should be optional to download for those of us who don't work 24/7.

My Verizon - another app taking up space. I can see it's convenience and appeal to some, but I spend the day in front of a computer and if I want to view my usage or pay my bill i do it online. Seems like a waste of space.

Conflicts:

Skype- If you have Skype preinstalled before the update. Uninstall, and reboot the phone after the update to access Skype.

PayPal- Could not launch PayPal app after update. Have uninstalled it but not yet had the chance to download again. will follow up on this.

Firethorn - Mobile Banking- This is one of the few apps that is compatible with several smaller or local credit unions and banks. I had to uninstall after the update and have not had a chance to download it again yet. will follow up on this as well.

I have friends here in SLC that have the Ally and they have not received the update yet. Luck of the draw. On an un-related noted I have been using the Weather widget that comes with the phone (accuweather). I know a lot of people hate the space it takes up, but I have never had a problem with accuracy of time or temp. The widget has not worked for over a week now. What would you all recommend for a weather widget aside from Weatherbug? I hate weatherbug.

Still says 2.1-update1, but under SW Version says VS740ZVB:

VS740 (Ally's model number) Z (something...) V (version?) B (hex for 11, previous was 8).
 
just got the update.. phone seems alot snappier and the youtube widget is working fine for me... so far i like it next is froyo (fingers crossed)
 
wow, i'm starting to feel like the forgotten stepchild. no update so far.

we're all supposed to get this by tomorrow, right?
 
got the update this morning around 7:30 EST. I was setting up a new app I had just got when it popped up. Not knowing what it was, I hit "Update Later". After I did this, I realized that it was the update...oops...I then finished what I was doing with the app and updated my phone :D

I just got my phone on Sunday, so I don't really know what to look for when it comes to differences. I checked the Firmware version yesterday and it said "2.1 update 1" I checked it just now and it still says the same thing...am I supposed to have something different or did I look in the wrong place?
 
check your SW Verzion, it should say VS740ZVB.

also, to everyone, check all of your apps. i had to reinstall Droid Mini Golf and Baseball Superstars 2010 after this update. the update broke them somehow.
 
So I got my update, the old bench was 480 (in velocity .02)

Stock bench before update, no velocity was 407 (on average)

Stock bench with the update is 433, keep in mind the first was pre update velocity,
 
Finally (FINALLY!) got my update around 7:30 last night. It did affect some of my apps. I just uninstalled and then redownloaded and they are fine. I did notice, however, that my cell standby went up over 55% but by this morning it was back down to 30% without me doing anything. Based on past experience, I expect it will go down even more.
 
I got the update this morning. My cell standby SKYROCKETED when I got it, and is still hovering around 67%. I haven't noticed any of my apps being effected. Phone does seem a lot speedier, but I haven't had much time to play around with it.
 
Cell Standby still @ 55% :mad: Battery dropped 30% in 4 hours. New software completely deleted my (paid for version) of What the Doodle.
 
I ended up having to do a hard reset. Too many apps were having issues. Now it works great, just have to get everything back to where I want them.
 
Alright. I got the update at 2am this morning while on velocity v0.2 with drellidee's recovery. I told the update to install later. After that i restored my stock rom and proceeded to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. And the update was downloading, so i decided to let it download. Once it downlaoded i told it to install and went to sleep.

Woke up this morning to phone fully booted. First thing i noticed. No root. I was expecting that. I decided to try and boot into recovery (drellisdee's one) and the android and yellow triangle poped up and flashed that means it was back to stock recovery. No problem.

Now to re-root the phone with universal androot. Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta 5 will NOT re-root the phone even though it says it does. Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta WILL root your phone. After that you can re-flash your recovery image and re-flash roms/make backups and restore like normal.

I am re-flashing velocity as we speak and i still got prompted to install the update. I went ahead and sleceted "Install Now" and went to recovery and didnt install. :)
 
Does the option to 'update' just pop up on your screen or what? I live in California ans still haven't seen it.
