Root Anyone know of some dope keyboards?

Loookin for something stylish but also easy to type on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. CHOW :p

That must mean you are running a custom ROM ... does it say it wasn't signed correctly. If it does than you probably already have it, it says update still but I'm not sure why.

Install another keyboard temporarily, delete the keyboard from system/app folder. Then go back to the the play store. Install Google keyboard and BAM!
 
I use Kii keyboard its amazing it has alien type style themes all the ت♚✓☏∫♥♛ⅰ㎠ iebamx♡☏♪♪⚅ things and swype too, but you have to enable it in the keyboard settings
 
Another vote here for SwiftKey. I've used the stock JB one, but whenever I start using SwiftKey again (after a rom flash) it feels like a breath of fresh air.
The only bad thing is that the full app costs a fair bit.
 
Ya the google one sucks. Cant long hold to putt question mark and stuff like that. Gonna try the jb one and the swift key. I need a basic. Easy one. Dont need onebthst has swipe or anything. But i do

Smart Keyboard Pro has many skins and you can customize everything you can think of. I dont use swype either and this let's you turn it off and you can hold keys for alt characters
 
Jellybean 4.2 keyboard by johntanmi is pretty good. that's what i have now and i really like it. It's simple and has everything I need, but then again, if you're looking for lots of customization, this is not the keyboard for you.
 
I use SuperKeyboard, its ridiculously customizable, has alien text like mentioned above, long key presses to change layout on the fly or characters and compared to all the keyboards I've tried it just feels more responsive...theres a free and a paid version with the free version losing the skins and customization

I had this problem, using the Katana ROM. So I attempted this fix by installing Swype trial, switching to it, uninstalling the Android/Google keyboard, then going back to the Play store to install it again.

It doesn't work. It always says the package file is corrupt.
 
Man this is nuts. I just used Titanium Backup to backup then uninstall the Android/Google keyboard, then I looked around for an apk to download, found it, tried to install it, and it fails. It gives no other info other than "not installed." What is up with this? Are we just SOL for updating Google stuff for running a custom ROM or what? I tried to update Gmail app to the recent update and I'm having the same problem as updating the Google Keyboard, even tried it the same way (backup, uninstall, install from apk).

It is a hiccup in the Google servers. The one that is with our custom ROMs is the very latest 4.2.2 keyboard. You can't get any newer version. Google thinks our phones have an older keyboard but because we have a custom ROM we actually have the latest Google Keyboard that came out. GT put it in his ROMs. You will get nowhere with trying to update this keyboard. And you can't really stop the play store from saying that there is an update for it, its wrong, just ignore it. It ticked me off for awhile too. Lol
 
I don't know if this is true or not, but I do know that there absolutely is a newer Gmail app that the Katana ROM doesn't have, and that doesn't update either, so regardless it doesn't give me a lot of hope that this will just go away in the future when there actually is a newer Google keyboard to use. :(
 
Three easy solutions....

1. Uninstall those apps and then install the updated ones.
2. Install a different rom.
3. Or use the stock rom if custom roms are not letting you enjoy your phone.
 
Solution #1 does not work, so really, only two solutions.

Unless of course there is a way to undo why the update is getting cockblocked.
 
Have you tried deleting the data/remove updates from the Gmail app from Manage applications?

I know this method helped for the play store updates so it could work for Gmail.
