[APP] GrooVe IP - Google Voice VoIP

Hi,

I'll take a look at adding an audible notification. It sounds like maybe your device is putting the wifi into a power saving state when the screen is off for some time. There should be a setting for that in the android settings. In GrooVe IP you can also try the Partial Wake Lock and/or High Perf WiFi Lock to see if they help. There's also an auto resign in interval you can configure to have the app automatically re-sign in at that interval

I only have it happen once or twice after connecting to wifi, like when I get home after work, then within an hour or so I check manually it's disconnected, but right after unlocking phone, it automatically connects again. And then it's rock steady all night until the next morning when I leave the house again.

I like how little battery power it is idle on Wifi (2% drain in airplane mode overnight during sleep) The automatic reconnect interval seems a little too much, it would be forcing reconnect every x mins/hours, which is overkill since my connection is pretty reliable most of the time. Just wish there was an optional audio notification when it disconnects so I know what my network is doing or phone is doing so I can help troubleshoot the exact cause (if it's not a GrooveIP app problem). Or even better have it auto-reconnect when disconnected & phone is asleep. Basically I don't want to have to always wonder if GrooveIP is connected or not & check it manually all the time. Thanks.

The app will try and reconnect, but if the cpu is asleep the nothing will really be running. So it won't be able to reconnect. Sounds like it does reconnect as soon as the cpu wakes up. The audible alert doesn't look too difficult. Will try and get that added in the next update.

I keep losing "login", where the icon goes red, I log in just fine with the google info to gmail or google voice, but groove ip keeps saying the info is wrong, when it was just working fine with said login info a min ago.

were not using two step
phone is plugged in and not sleeping

Optimus V 2.2.2 rooted but stock rom being used as WiFi only device, no service plan.

When the icon is green, it has worked right, out and incoming calls work.

WiFi is set to never sleep.

Had done the uninstall, reinstall, even done a backup restore in titanium backup, program is on the phone, not using link2sd for it.

its done this twice so far and seems to take hours for it to magicaly work again. It did it last night and tonight. [only had this phone two days set up like this]

It could be something in your Google Voice account. Does anything seem to trigger that? The couple of hours fixing it seems to indicate Google could be blocking the app from signing in for some reason. That could happen if you make many short phone calls in a row or something Google may register as an abuse.

Did restarting the device or reinstalling the app ever correct the issue?

I messed up and deleted google voice from my device, is there any way I can get this back? Is there another app that will work with groove ip so I can make and recieve calls?

Hi,

You don't need the Google Voice android app installed on your device for GrooVe IP to work. You just need a Google Voice or gmail account. What kind of trouble are you running into when you try to make calls with GrooVe IP? Did you also delete your Google Voice account?

I can make calls ok. The problem I am having is receiving to my device which is Dell streak 7 unlocked. I need an app that will let me rec a call on the dell. I have not deleted my GV account. I can receive calls back on the GV number, however not to Dell.My sim in the dell is voice only and the dell is designed for 3G or wifi therfore it does have a telephone number. I know all this is confusing but I am not really up on all this bussiness. Thanks for replying.

Sounds like you're not forwarding calls to "Google Chat" properly. Log onto voice.google.com on a PC and click the gears icon for settings, and make sure Google Chat is one of the numbers being forwarded to.

Google Voice app, available from the Google Play Market allows you to be able to send & receive SMS text.

I have a samsung exhibit II on T Mo and I'm experiencing atrocious delays on outgoing calls on wifi and 3g/4g, I'm running Rebel Rom with the chip at 1200hz cpu at 20% at and am only using 147mb of 356mb memory so and nothing running in the background. My mike is set to small, and I don't have audio processing on. What am I doing wrong?

Anyone figure out the voice delay? I'm stuck!

I only make calls on Wifi (50 Mbps fiber). I have a HTC Sensation.

My calls are extremely delayed. The calls always start good and then within a couple of minutes it goes about 2-3 seconds and even goes as high as 10-12 seconds. After 10 minutes the call is so bad that you have to hang up and reconnect.

I have Partial Lock and Hi Perf Wifi Lock enabled.

Would try the Keep Screen Alive setting. It's possible something is still going into a power saving state when the screen turns off. If you have any task killer or battery manager apps installed those can also cause the issue.

Other settings to try would be Mic Buffer, try both small and x-large. Also try enabling Synchronize Voice.

I've only worked with customers with the stock exhibit II. We have updated the app with the settings they've reported worked best for them. Would recommend enabling Keep Screen Alive to see if that helps. Also try the mic buffer set to x-large. Make sure that the Adaptive Echo canceler is NOT enabled on the Exhibit II. Also make sure any apps that run in the background aren't using your data or cpu (not just memory)

I have a non android, tmobile, pay as I go, Samsung flip phone. Can i use this app?
If I cannot, which phone from which paygo carrier should I be looking into?

You cannot use this app on a non-android phone. This Groove IP app is available for Android users only, via Google Play. Ask T-Mobile for an Android phone, as I'm not sure what selection of phones they have.

Hi,

I am having trouble receiving calls via Groove IP over WiFi. I have gotten a couple of calls the other day with it, but that time has ended. I now must take Google Voice calls with my iPod or mobile network on my LG Optimus S with Android 2.3.3. I read a few threads online saying:
  • Forwarding to Google Talk must be on (it is)
  • Try disabling forwarding to your mobile phone (tried, no results)

I have had no success with trying to solve it, so I came here. Is there any other solution? Thanks.

If you have an app on your ipod that also connects to Google Voice it's likely it is using the same interface GrooVe IP uses. Google Voice will only forward calls to one location. So either the ipod will get the call or GrooVe IP.

Ok, so if I get rid of talkatone then Groove IP will work?
