Root [APP] QuickClock Overclock Assistant

Ran my newest settings based on the quickclock suggestions : got about an hour of Nav, and poweramp running, then it panic'ed and rebooted. Now Im running at 1250 @70. Do you think I should go to 71? It didnt seem hot so i dont think it I need to go down. Problem is I hope it was the 1250 setting, and not the 1000 setting or im gonna have a lot of variables to play with. I guess I could try to set it to only run @ 1250 and see if I still get an hour before it reboots....

Hello,
I just bought the quickclock and followed the directions, but I'm still getting random reboots. Is this an undervolt issue or overclock issue (how will I know)? What is the difference between what is shown on the "Calibrate" menu when is says vsel/Mhz for lowest frequency and what's shown on the "Overclock Menu?" It shows different things.. Mine says: 15/300 on one and 19/300 on another.

Also, can you explain what a buffer is and how and when to use it?
thank you.

I like to set just one at a time, but I prefer to start with overclock for about a week at ULV. When that's stable you can start dropping the voltage.

Heya Folks,

Just wanted to drop in and let everyone know that a major update was made today. Here's the changelog:

Version 1.7
- More devices supported
- Max Speed Calibration (Beta)
- Profiles Calibration
- Export profiles
- Improved profile manipulation
- Autoload module for calibration/OC\
- Option to manually set VSELs
- Stress Test
- Script Builder
- UI Improvements

Main things of note are the max speed calibration and the enhanced profiles.

EDIT: Derp. And the multidevice support!

Got 20 lag spikes in 300 seconds for the stress test @1250. Too fast?

Strange my speed during the stress test isn't always 1,250,000, sometimes it's only 300,000.

Oh I see, you vary the speed. :D

Dropped top speed to 1200 and only had 9 lags.

Too bad you can do just one speed at a time. ;)

Set it to stock and ran 300 seconds and still had 9 lag spikes in 300 secs. It appears background processes might also be causing the lags?

Set it to a profile I used several weeks ago with my original OC (fastest) speed so 1350 max with lower voltages, but also implemented airplane mode with the hope it would cut down on background processes. Had 11 lags in 300 secs, and saw several at 350 and 950 so not all just fastest speed. Would be nice to have a summary of speed vs lags.

Summary of speeds vs lags? Heck yea. Love it. I will add that or something similar to my to do list. :)

Was bored and decided to check the auto calibrate settings (again). Was impressed that it recovered and continued after a boot, but thought it should have waited at least another 10 seconds since I still had notices popping up after it was done waiting.

Automatic settings found this to be my minimums:

quickclock_detected.jpg

... however I found no way to use these since my overclock screen looked like this, even after choosing "save":

quickclock_overclock.jpg

BTW, I have no idea where the 707 and 978 came from. I don't use those numbers.

... So I cleared QC's cache and started over. :D

Now I have 11 VSEL and the same OC screen.

What intermediate step am I missing? :D

EDIT: Ok figured it out, I have to load a profile to apply those settings. I think they're a bit low, but we'll see.

Forgive me for being late to the game, but I now use QC Advanced. It's amazing. I was emailing the Dev. He's amazing and helpful. I'm now at 1406 stably.

I'm going to recommend this to newbies fer shur!

Yeah haha. When you run the full calibration it builds custom profiles based on what it figured out. If you do find that they're too low, just bump up the stability buffer for whichever profile gives you fits, Set CPU, check the box to save, and hit Keep. Glad you're still checkin it out, Colchiro. :)

Pleasure talking with you, Steven, and I'm glad we were able to get everything figured out! Enjoy the speed!

Good deal. Last I heard you were using medium voltage.

I find I need to bump up the min vsel by a couple, but for some reason leave the stability buffer at 15.

Steven, if you think it's stable, try playing Jewels. If you can play for 30 minutes w/o a crash, you might be good. That's one of my wife's games that can crash what I think is a stable profile.

Likewise! Actually, I'm presently playing around with underclocking. I'm at 900 mhz and can't really see the difference. This will be good when I'm away from the charger for an extended period, which doesn't occur often, but it does sometimes.

Medium voltage was JRummy's app. This has more nuance, it figures stuff out for you and let's you remain ignorant about particulars while configuring your system for you. Perfect!

PS: I don't really play games like that. :)

When Quick Clock Advance does the first testing (Finding BMV) how low is the VSEL going to go? It's been running for quite a while and is down to -55 and still going.

An app data wipe should fix that. It shouldn't go lower than 0 ever. Airmaxx, could you possibly give me a detailed rundown of exactly what you did leading up to that error? I've tried many times to reproduce it since it's relatively common, and yet I can't make it happen.

If it goes below 10, stop it and fix it.

I had the same problem when I restored my Apex backup today and restored the data for it from Titanium. Things you can try:

Reload the module. Retry.
Clear the cache for the app under Settings... Applications. Retry.
Open superuser and tap QuickClock and select "forget". Retry.
Uninstall/reinstall it, then reload the module.

Thanks, Colchiro. Any input on what exactly led up to the problem when it happened for you?

:D

I backed up my current rom to Titanium, then restored a month-old Apex recovery backup. I updated apps in market, then restored the data from my backup, including QC, then opened the app, found zeros for current settings so started an automatic scan.

Nothing has changed on my phone for a few days. I just bought the app a few minutes ago, installed it, opened it, granted it SU permission, hit ok, selected calibration, automatic, left all of the boxes checked and then "proceed".

Yeah that probably would do it, b/c it restored old app data without some important new bits of information.

If it's a fresh install, it should work fine, and I'm not sure why it wouldn't. I'll have to piece through some code when I have time. Did the app data wipe fix it?

prob a dumb question...why would you want to port your QC settings over to another OC app? (jrummy, unstable)....and why do you need 2 OC apps anyway? thanks.

i dont really know how to manually set the vsels on this..

can sum1 help out? i know my lowest is 300mhz at 15.
how can i set that and also overclock settings

If you want to manually set things, go into the advanced menu and turn on "FullEdit". Then you can manually adjust each VSEL in the Overclock menu.
