Apple 5 or Galaxy s3

After learning the main reason many Android devices never got ICS was memory constraints, not processor, I'll take my extra 1GB of memory over yours any time :D

ICS runs fine on 1Gb RAM, but then our phones don't have the amount of carrier bloatware that you guys get.

I'm running the latest JB leaked ROM on my S3 with 1 GB RAM and it runs like butter!

To answer the OP. If you want a simple interface that does the main smartphone jobs and hate configuring - get an iPhone.

Otherwise get an S3 - an excellent phone. Never had an issue.

MicroNix said "Apple, IMHO has turned rotten."

LMAO we need a spoof logo of a slightly brownish green apple with a worm coming out of it!

Did I not say in one of my posts that the revolution will be one more row of icons? Check the post from a month ago: Revolution

Was I not right? Not counting the uber-camera, as I do not give a rat's sas about the camera on my phone when I take photos using a DSLR with a 500Euro lens attached :)

I own a Lenovo ThinkPad because it outperforms an iBook or anything with an "I" on it for less money.

I own a Galaxy Tab because it outperforms an iPad.

I own an s3... Well, you get the picture.

Unless you are trying to impress your friends with art degrees or just dropped $800 on a pair of jeans, there really isn't any logical reason to buy anything with an Apple logo on it. Inferior product for more money.

Another ThinkPad owner here, the MacBook Pro has nothing on it :)

Nice prediction!

$700 for a lol16GB phone no thanks
$800 for a lol32GB phone no thanks
$900 for a 64GB iPhone no thanks

Buying iPhones makes Al Gore richer. I'll pass. Compare the S3 or the Note 2 with the bitten fruit phone and you'll see why it's superior. iPhone is pretty much an iPod with cell radio and lots of useless apps for little girls to download Justin bieber songs off iTunes.

My girlfriends iPhone 4s freezes all the time, my Galaxy S3 on the other hand never has any issues. If you want the best phone on the market get the Galaxy S3, the iPhone 5 doesn't even compare.

When you lead the pack, you don't have to compare yourself to anyone. Pretty much says it all about Samsung. Always the bridesmaid.

I've owned the phone since release and never had freezes, that were related to the stock phone. I did have some from a ROM i ran for a while.

And people complaining about the plastic. You need to realize that they used plastic so the phone would have a removable battery cover and keep it light.

The perspective we need to keep is that we are debating the performance of the S3 (introduced a few months ago) with the new fruit phone (coming in a few days) and the difference, performance wise, is negligible.

However, Samsung and many other Android manufacturers are busy working on something better. The "other" camp will be stuck for the next two years with what you saw on Wednesday. There will only be a minor revision for next year. No only do I dislike almost everything about the "other" camp, I couldn't imagine being locked into that device for two years.

these types of threads are flame wars waiting to happen.

everyone here hates apple especially after all the lawsuits so you're not gonna get a unbiased opinion.

Most people don't realize that modern plastics are not cheap and flimsy. In fact there are some plastics that are stronger than steel.

It doesn't matter, Apple will lower the chip performance. It's not like the iphone is doing much anyway.

iPhone is the smartphone for dumb people.

Android is designed for power users.

That's all I have to say about this other than the fact that the Galaxy SIII outclasses the iPhone 5 in almost every hardware category. The iPhone is struggling to keep up with modern Android phones.

I'm glad that's all you have to say, because while I intend no disrespect, none of it reflects reality. Frankly, the iPhone 5 is fine hardware-wise, and I'm sure we'll all see in a few weeks it will be in the same general area as other "class leading" handhelds.

The main differences will be the physical dimensions, the software, and the philosophy of what a phone should be, not what's actually running inside.

Samsung may have forgot a few things. This chip will blow away the S3.
AnandTech - The iPhone 5's A6 SoC: Not A15 or A9, a Custom Apple Core Instead

interesting article. if you actually read it tho it's actual performance is still all speculation and there is nothing to indicate it will blow anything away.

In a few weeks we'll find out what real world performance is actually like.

the iphone 5 may havea faster cpu... but guys... lets wait the review/comparison before we bash any of those 2...
i used to own 2 iphone 3g(8gb) and now a S3... fast, reliable, customisable, got it for cheap (with a 3 yrs contract still)

as for consumer wise advice
a S3 16gb (on contract) around 50$-200$ + a 64gb micro SD Class 10 - around 60$
how much for a iphone 5 64gb?

I was waiting for the iPhone 5 to decide whether or not to upgrade from my 4s.
I've used iphones since the first one and after the new iphone turned out to be basically nothing much new I decided to get a S3 today. I have to say as much as the "iPhone just works" thing is true, I believe the same is true for Android. I just decided to put some movies on my phone, so I dragged some .avi files over and...they just work. No stupid file converting bs or any of that it just opens right up in the default player. As stupid as that sounds this may have just decided i made the right choice for me.

My question is how would i5 compare to the s3 international version with the quad processor and does i5 have a quad core processor. I haven't seen the specs for the iPhone yet.
