I know it has been flashed to cricket, so I dont see why it couldnt be flashed to metro too.

What does it do and how does it do it ?
Will I need the 3000 mAH battery, or is the standard 1500 sufficient ?
What does Juice Defender do and how ? How does one download it ?

but they don't use AWS frequencies. A flashed iPhone will not work in all Metro markets.

correct but some folks have done it. They are working on the net part of the problem but Talk & Text is working well.

Yes, but in the markets that use "regular" CDMA frequencies, not the AWS markets like New York city and Boston. Plus, as you mentioned, even in the "regular" markets, still not everything is working.
I'd rather go with a phone that was MADE for Metro than something stuck together with technical duct tape. With the LG Esteem, we have a GREAT phone -- and with LTE! You would be giving that up, by having it flashed to Metro. The LTE speeds are equal to or better than any EVDO speeds the other carriers have. Sprint especially is bad, but the others aren't much better.

WRONG. Looks at the download speed people are getting with the other carriers. I just posted a link. THAT'S verified. Sprint especially is red faced with the iPhone 4S. You have not been keeping up with current news. Here you go, go read this:

no argument there . The iphone was made for Sprint,Cspire,ATT and verizon. Not for Metro yet. True the Sprint issue is a bother but can be fix. True LTE is the future but right now sometimes the signal is 100% in some places. Once Metro fix this then they will be a force nobody will want to face.

Well if they pull it off you know everybody else will follow. Which means more pluses for us the consumers
. Thats why i love both companiesDisables data when you turn the screen off, among other things. Download the free version from the market and play with it.
The stock battery in mine last all day no problem with Juice Defender running.
Have you even looked at the Market yet?
How so? It works great and I don't have to spend a day messing with every little setting just to improve battery life. I also don't have to manually enable/disable LTE.

Exactly what I think when I see 86% battery after 11 hours. That includes playing Angry Birds Rio, setting up Go Launcher EX, playing with Alien Skins Full, surfing a bit.

Y'all I've tried everything except a custom Rom I have an indulge the esteem would be run just by turning off everything like we do on the indulge Juice defender doesn't work for the indulge nor any other phone I've had it just sets your phone for everything you can do yourself there's nothing special going on there

No, you said Metro's LTE speeds are not true 4G specs, and no one said they were. THAT was not what was being discussed. That's why I could tell you never actually read the content of my post.
But we are talking about the iPhone, specifically the new iPhone 4S compared to the Esteem. THAT is what this thread is about. Go up and read the header.
And I'm saying that VERIFIED speeds with the iPhone 4S on all the major carriers (don't make me post the link for 3rd time)-- a phone which you have never used on Verizon -- are much slower than Metro's current average LTE speeds. Why? They don't know. Been affecting Sprint greatly but in VERIFIED tests apparently also the other carriers. Go back and read the speed tests that you keep missing in my post.

But back on topic!!!!!!, the esteem is a very nice phone from what I have seen of it. I have one being sent to me to dev with, so expect some stuff being available for it soon
I'm finding the Esteem disappointing. When using the voice to text it hangs up on "working" but never finishes. I've had to reboot the device many times because of:
a) failure to surf
b) microphone failing to start or being unavailable
c) text messages not being sent
Yet I am always the the 4G area, at least by the emblem at the top of the screen.
Several people have said my voice quality is better on my old Samsung phone, but the majority think the Esteem is slightly better. I like the way the Esteem rebroadcasts the speaking voice through the earpiece. My other cell phones do not.
Haven't yet installed Juice Defender.
