Root [Application] Eris Master Application [R00T]

My question is I'm on 2.1 ota hboot 1.47. Do I have to roll back to 1.5 to use this?

Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk

2.1 OTA w/HBOOT 1.47 is rootable.

Read a few posts up about the status of this tool: http://androidforums.com/all-things...ris-master-application-r00t-2.html#post939955

If you don't want to wait, you can read and follow this thread for rooting (rooting from 2.1 OTA works the same as from 1.5): http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html

Cheers!

I know I am going to get yelled at for this but, I want to root and I am at a total lost at what to do. I have the official 2.1 update and I want to know if I can root from it and HOW??? I need some step by step instructions. HELP!!!!!!!

No yelling here...:D You can (carefully) follow these instructions: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html

The rooting instructions above work for 2.1 OTA phones (assuming you did get the 2.1 OTA (over-the-air) update).

Be sure to read around the other threads in the All Things Root (Eris) section...there's tons of good stuff, advice, cautions, etc. out there that will help you on your journey. Good luck!

Thanks so much!! I think that I got it now and I want to do it. If I root I loose my warrenty but can still do an insurnce claim if ever necessary? Warrnenty gets me a new referb (which i have now) and insurance means that I will have to pay a fee if my phone is lost, damaged or stolen. Not that I am even thinking of insurance fraud I just wanted to make sure that I am understanding the difference correctly.

Word on the street is that yes, rooting does void your warranty. There are instructions for unrooting your phone (i.e., putting it back to 1.5 from which you would re-receive the 2.1 OTA) so that your phone looks again like stock. You would search for "unroot" in these forums. Cheers.

I'm puzzled by this. I wanted to root my HTC Eris. Looking at the Phone Information it is already running 2.1. I went onto the IRC chat and they had me boot up my phone to get what HBOOT loader was running.

My phone has 1.49.0000 running. They told me .... too-bad.... so sad that you can't root your phone with that loader. Something about HTC put in a new HBOOT which is to not allow rooting. by current methods.

I'm trying to get clarification or confirmation on this.

Can I still root my phone with HBOOT 1.49.0000?

Iceman, sorry, but it looks like you must have installed one of the 2.1 leaks [or, you received a refurbished phone with the v3 2.1 leak on it]. :( There is currently no way to root a 2.1 leak phone (although there are folks actively working on it (2.1 leak OFFICIAL root status thread. - xda-developers))

Eclips3 / Jamezelle over at XDA have released this app again. Here is the text from Eclips3's post:

"Android Master App released again. For windows Vista and 7 only. Update coming to work for XP shortly.

Direct Download Link:

Here is the link to that post:xda-developers - View Single Post - [Application] Eris Master Application [R00T] - 6/20/10

This is a great tool for rooting. Please, read through this thread and the thread over at XDA for more information. Thanks again, Eclips3 and Jamezelle--awesome work!

I didn't install anything... LOL

I got the phone from verizon and it was "Not" a referb. at least it was not classified as one. I actually bought 2 of them as I switched over to Verizon.

When I got my phone it did seem to do an OTA update of some sort. I assume it went to 2.1 but can't be for sure what it updated off the get-go.

I do understand they are doing some work on the ability to gain root access with hboot 1.49.0000.

Anyone know if the incredible has the same issue (running hboot 1.49.0000) and not rootable as of yet? (guess I should check those forums for it) .... perhaps I need to get one of those if they are rootable.

I used this application last night (on XP) and it worked flawlessly for me... Amazing stuff, and many thanks to anyone who was involved in its creation!!

dewalist, that's funny and weird that you were on XP (Eclips3 says there's still a pending update for that :)).

Just goes to show you how finicky / different some user setups are from others. I actually used this app to start with, but I couldn't get past step 3 (I was on Vista). But, I'm not 100% sure I would have tried to root without having this app available. So, it all worked-out. :D

thanks scary alien for keeping this thread updated as i have been super busy lately with life and trying to fix the bugs in the app.

the main bug is where the files wont download correctly if your on xp, which is why we say that its only for Vista and 7 right now. Another issue we have been seeing lately coming threw the log files being emailed to us is that some roms wont download, while others will. we think this is an issue with where the files are being hosted and that our app is being randomly blocked from connecting. we are working on finding a different place to host the devs roms, or a mirror solution so if a file fails, try from someplace else.

we are working on getting all these issues fixed, especially support for xp.

for updates, check ECLIPS3 (THE_ECLIPS3) on Twitter or the xda thread listed above and in main thread, or chat.andirc.net

Thanks for the great app, worked GREAT!!

One question, I used the Eris Official 1.0 rom, everything worked, I am rooted so I could use the Wifi tether, but I found one app I used, TV.com, is not available in the market?? Where did it go??

I'm also using Ivan's Eris Official 1.0. I went to the market and searched for "tv.com" and it popped-up right away. Try again, maybe...?

Still can't get it.

Do I have the latest version of Ivan's Eris Official? I downloaded it from the Eris Master App menu, which I would assume is the latest. How can I check?

Aha! I don't think you do have the latest and greatest version! The "official" ROM that came with the EMA was a very early, pretty old version.

Grab the real, current version from GrdLock's site: HTC Droid Eris ROM Site

You'll see Eris_Official_1.0_OC.zip as the third entry in the list.

That should fix you up!

P.S. don't forget to do the wipes and stuff while in recovery mode (Go to Wipe, and do a wipe of data/factory reset, as well as dalvik-cache wipe)...I don't know how compatible that old ROM is with Ivan's ROM. Make sure your apps are backed-up on your /sdcard, etc.

actually, the application downloads the current version of most of the roms, and stores it in the ema_files\_uploads\_roms folder. you can do a md5 checksum to check which version you have.

do a market search for "us bank" if you get more than 2 results, i.e. 9 then you have the full market. if you only get 2, then you need to patch your market using the Eris Market Fix by Jcase. it is in the market, search for it.

ECLIPS3, thanks for the correction! I was thinking about the early version that I used. Hope this helps pondguy (I don't think I've had any Market issues, so that led me to think he was on an older ROM). Thanks again to you and Jamezelle for your great work.

Eclips3 & Scary Alien, thanks for the help! All is good in the root world now.

EMA downloaded and installed eris official .8, I checked the MD5 and confirmed this. Downloaded/installed 1.0 OC, all apps are in the market now!

pondguy (love the name, btw), glad to hear that! I love Ivan's ROM...its been really good and solid for me.

Ivan is working on a 1.1 version that is supposed to be faster and have more goodies (pretty cool work for a guy (Ivan, that is) that doesn't even have an Eris to develop on (yeah, its true)).

No release date yet, but I'll shoot you a PM when I hear its released (maybe he'll have it FroYo'd by then :D).

The pondguy comes from what I do in my spare time, dig holes, add water & fish.. :)

I was looking for a stable ROM, and from reading everything, Ivan's seemed to be the one, a lot of the others have too many components removed/added/etc. I was at XDA and reading through and did see he does this without having an Eris, gotta love that.

PM appreciated on next version. I pop in every day or so. FroYo'd would be NICE :D
