Ask Verizon Rep Questions Here...

Does Verizon ever do price matching on new phones. I just upgraded to a Droid 3 on Thursday and now amazon and Costco both have it for at least $100.00 less than the stores price. I could still return it and take the $35.00 it and still come out ahead but I'd rather not deal with that.

Thanks for all of your questions guys! I'm still here and will be updating this thread with answers throughout the day. I've been busy the past week and a half with interviews elsewhere. HeHatesMe will no longer be a Verizon employee, but I intend to write a thread "Call Center Rep: What VZW Doesn't Want You to Know" over the next week.

Sorry to hear about your job; I wish you luck on your interviews. I'm looking forward to your upcoming thread. :)

I can't say I didn't see that coming.

HeHatesMe, I hope things go well for you and I look forward to your post.

I have a discount plan through work. When I bought my Thunderbolt, I used a family plan phone for the upgrade and got the data on a new, non-contract, line. I changed the new line to my primary but did not get my discount.

I called CS and was told that to get the discount, my primary line had to be under contract. Is that true?

Also, if I do put the primary line on contract will I get the discount on the voice, data and hotspot service? Or just the voice?

TIA
DLM

woot!

:D

I'm leaving on my own accord, guy. I've been offered a job elsewhere that will work better for me. Thanks for the concern though.

Awesome! Always glad to hear of a decent fellow moving up in this economy.

Quick question for you, if I might-Do the retention folks have the authority to give a discount on your data plan? I'm trying plan out the next couple years of phones and service, and wifey is making noises about wanting to switch to Sprint when her term is up... But she needs top-notch coverage. So I think if we can close the cost gap a little bit, I can get her happy, and execute my grand plan... :p

I'll mention one thing I'm not sure if people are aware- I talked to a nice gentleman yesterday who was able to flip the switch in the system that tells 3rd party phone providers that you are qualified for a discounted upgrade.

So, i was just past the the one-year point, with no working phone. (My DX got wet, and my old BB Storm just keeps freezing, rebooting, etc.) The bump he gave my upgrade date let me get a DInc2 for free from wirefly, so that saved me $150, and I get the impression it was an easy thing for him to do... The rep suggested it, and really jumped at it. "If that would make you happy today, I can do that in a heartbeat," or words to that effect.

So everyone's happy, and my new DInc2 is on the way! ;-)

i just came in here to vent my frustration with the whole process of ordering a phone with verizon. i called customer service yesterday to order a cpo droid charge. they told me i could not do it on the phone that i could only do it online. so i went online to order it and had a chat associate help me, we got to the end when i select my shipping options and free overnight shipping was not available. i asked about the free overnight shipping. he stated that it was still free, to select the free 2day and he would change it to free overnight. i asked many times to make sure i would be getting my phone overnighted, because i would have no problem paying the $12.99 for overnight shipping. he assured me each time i asked that i would be getting my phone today.

well i got my tracking number and it states that my phone is still in memphis and will be getting it on monday. i am just so frustrated.

moral of the story, do your business face to face.

thanks for letting me vent.

Yeah, if you want to make absolutely sure. What's funny is that I ordered my Droid 2 R2D2 when it launched expecting it to really be 2 days. I came home to the missed delivery notice on my door the next day. Murphy was out to get us!

Post that in the Droid X area. You really don't want me to try to help you since I've only handled one in Best Buy for 5 minutes over a year ago.

My wife's been due for an upgrade for a looong time. Here patience is running out. All she wants is a Samsung, 4.3+ screen, touch - no slider - World-phone (travels to Korea sometimes). If something doesn't release soon (i.e. 30-45 days) she'll probably jump ship to AT&T, and if she jumps I'll have to follow. Damn shame - we've been with VZ for a loooooong time! What the heck is taking so long? Is anything imminent?

speaking of Samsung and Verizon being slow...when is the original galaxy tab getting an update. I would be happy with gingerbread. Sprint can do it, why can't Verizon?

HHM,

I have a rather odd question. Last week I went into the local VZW store to check out the new phones they had, as I am eligible for an early upgrade. Well, the only words I spoke to any representatives in the store were, "Oh no thanks, I'm just looking around." I didn't make any purchases and left.
Then a few days ago I get an email from Verizon that said "Thank you for visiting us!"

Do they have some way of tracking when you walk into the stores with your phone?!

My husband has a dumb phone under my name that is up for an upgrade.

Can I upgrade that line to a smartphone, then put his dumb phone back on that line, and take the new smartphone for my line?

We have two separate lines, not family share, both in my name.

Unfortunately, HHH has not been back here for over two months. I suggest asking your questions elsewhere, therefore. :( Sorry.

I have great news!

You can use your husband's upgrade eligibility and get a Smartphone on your line. This process is called an Alternate line upgrade or upgrade transfer and can be done on-line via your My Verizon account, by phone with Customer Service or at any VZW corporate store. By doing so you will not have to activate the new phone on your husband's line before activating it on your line and re-activating his current phone on his line.

The way this works is that you will be extending the contract on your husband's line, but the phone would be ordered directly for your line. Therefore your line will not be affected and the contract end date and upgrade eligibility date for your line will remain the same. Only your husband's line will see the contract end date and upgrade eligibility date changed.

Please keep in mind that the alternate upgrade option is only available if both lines are on the same account. If the two lines are on separate account then you will need to upgrade his line, accept the new contract on his line and then activate the new phone on your line and re-activate his old phone on his line.

If you want to process this on-line visit Cell Phones - Smartphones: Cell Phone Service, Accessories - Verizon Wireless and sign in to your My Verizon account. Select your husband line and upgrade. You will then see the option to transfer the upgrade.

If you prefer to order via Customer Service you can contact them at 800-922-0204 or via Twitter @VZWSupport.

You can also visit Store Locator - Verizon Wireless to locate the nearest store location if you would prefer processing this at a store.

I trust this has fully answered your question.

Really? Now we have actual Verizon customer support reps answering questions? This just doesn't seem right to me. I doubt we'll get the unbiased answers we were getting before.

VZW_CS has been signing into AF for the past couple of months now to answer Verizon related questions.

I think it's great to finally see carriers realizing that there is a huge community on the net that talks about Android and face some carrier issues and ask those questions online. They are reaching out to their customers in joining the sites their customers frequent. This shows that they are committed to providing good services and also set themselves apart from the other carriers that aren't doing this.

Great, then, I'll post the $64 million question - what's the status of the Incredible GB upgrade? Is it on hold to fix the numerous bugs? Or is it still rolling out? And if so, how long does one have to wait for said update? I'm going on over two weeks and no sign of it.

FYI, this can be done at indirect locations as well. I work for a premium retailer and do alternate upgrades all the time.

I thought that the GB rollout had started for the inc already?? I usually look through the inc forums on here when I have time and thought I saw the rollout had started.

I'm pretty sure it did start and when they do an upgrade like that they do it in waves, pretty sure they do them on mondays (not 100% though) so checking your update status on monday's would be the way to go. The just simply cannot push that amount of data to every single incredible owner on the same day...too much for the network to handle, which is probably why you haven't gotten GB yet.
