Ask Verizon Rep Questions Here...

IF you're still answering questions I have one.

Under the new tiered data plan what happens if you exceed your allowance? Say you go 200MB over?

I'm going to be straight with you and tell you that I'm not happy with Verizon. What makes this even worse is what they pay you for dealing people like me after charging me what they do.

I asked a CSR this and he wasn't sure. My fiancee is on her parents' family plan. We are getting married in December so I'd like to move her over to my account.

1. If I change my individual plan to a family plan will I lose unlimited data.
2. If I do an assumption of liability and her parents sign the line over to me can she keep her unlimited data.

I'd think so since there is no contract or service change, only change of owner. Any input would be great! Thanks :)

OH! Do you know of any way to trade out my Thunderbolt for something else? I wasn't aware they changed the policy to 14 days from 30 and the more I use this phone the more annoyed with it I am. From all the bloatware to the terrible battery life, etc. I'm sure you've heard it all before so I won't bore you with it lol

Thanks again.

You get charged $10/GB of data over your limit on the tiered plan; it doesn't matter if you go over by 1 Kb or 900MB, you will get charged for 1GB of overage.

He,

I've been a line on my family plan since about February. However, my family has been customers of VZW for years now. I own a Droid 2 Global that I purchased through Wirefly. Now, overall coverage has been good for me. However, I've lost my data connection in a few places I go to often and even voice coverage in a specific location. With this combined with the regulatory fee change (is that still a thing) and the fact that I was told (for 3 days by VZW reps) that a software update was coming to get an early upgrade at all?

EDIT: Thanks for answering all the questions here! You're doing a great service. Maybe I should ask my friend who is an AT&T rep to help out on the forum too.

I have a Droid 2 and listen to audio books, but cannot get the application Overdrive to recognize my Droid 2 for WMA format audio books -- just MP3. Is there a fix for this?

I would like to start off by thanking you for your willingness to answer questions, it is truly appreciated.

Last Wednesday, I signed up for a new line of service by calling the 1800 number. The rep I spoke with told me he could waive my $35 activation fee, give me a $50 credit for the thunderbolt (I still paid the 250 + tax upfront) and an additional $30 credit to help cover some of my ($200) ETF for leaving my current contract.

The rep told me that the credits would not appear until my second or third bill and that my first bill would have an activation charge on it but the fee would be removed by the second bill and that I should not pay the $35 on my first bill. He said he was noting all of this on my account. He did also ask that I send him a screen shot of the thunderbolt

How long is the "grandfathering" for the Unlimited Data going to last?

+1

When my contract is up in 2012 are they going to bang me with this new tiered?

I used close to 10gb this billing cycle and as more and more media moves to phone I expect to use it more.

Glad you vzw guys are here. Seriously. Thank you. If there's anything I can do for you, pm me. :)

Service at my house has fallen off over the past couple of years. I am looking at getting Verizon's network extender. However, with the pending change to 4G, will that make the network extender useless?

US_Capitalist, I am happy you were able to speak with a representative who offered you additional discounts for starting new service. You can call Verizon wireless customer service the day you activate your device at 1-800-922-0204 to have a representative review your account and ensure the notes are listed so that you receive the credits offered to you. You have a 14 day worry free guarantee and if the information is not listed on the account and you

In Gingerbread, they patched the airplane mode trick... So now, you have to start up your hotspot... use your dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#*, it gives you a diagnostic menu.. turn the CDMA radio off and back on... tada, free mobile hotspot.[/QUOTE]

I tried this after I saw it posted here and it worked like a charm, but the last few times I tried it didn't work anymore. Did they find a way to stop from working?

Me and my wife both have an Env Touch (feature phone) with unlimited data (plan was $30 for the main line and the $10 for each additional line, all lines unlimited data). A few days ago I changed my plan to the unlimited smartphone data plan on both my phones (now $30 for each phone). I knew it would cost more, but I thought I would of been grandfathered in with the unlimited smartphone data plan, especially seeing how I just increased the price on my plan.

I went today to upgrade my phone and was told that I would have to change my current plan to one of the new tired plans, even though I’m paying for the unlimited smartphone plan, all because I don’t have a “smartphone”. What I don’t understand why did Verizon let me select the unlimited smartphone data plan without having a smartphone, but now all of a sudden I must already own a smartphone to keep the plan with an upgrade.

My question is, since my intent was to get grandfathered in the unlimited plan, do you think I could keep the unlimited data plan if I upgraded both my phones today with a 2 year contract? I am not under any contract and sprint seems like a good deal now. and if not unlimited, then how about the 10G plan for $30, which still isn't as good but unlimited, but i know i won't ever go over that. Thank you and this site for the help. :)

Hehatesme said earlier that the EnVTouch method wasn't going to work. He so our resident loyalty rep. Since it hasn't quite been a week yet and you're paying the same amount, they might be able to escalate it to someone who can help you especially if you're going to switch to Sprint over us. Hehatesme said that they are different products while the 3g/LTE unlimited plans were not.

I would be interested to see in the future what the revenue gained by people switching just before the 7th compared to that lost be the attrition of those who missed out. I'm also curious to see if it becomes to expensive to keep the promise of grandfathering. How many times can you get new LTE plans? When I bought a lifetime XM subscription, they told me that I could only switch radios 3 times... Right now, it seems that we can change hardware without penalty.

"Family" plan - My phone number is off-contract, but not the phone I am using. My wife's phone number is on-contract, but her phone is not - and she now has a business phone being paid for by employer.

I want to drop one line, but they are requiring me to drop "my" line and xfr my phone to the other number. Keep saying I am trying to "cheat" system - I am not. I will stay with VZW, I will maintain my contract end date, etc. I just want to keep my phone number. Won't even consider what I am asking as reasonable, which is the frustrating part.

Will also not consider moving my phone to her number, then 'porting' my old number to this line - saying it's all about "honoring the contract you signed sir" - I don't think they're treating the request honestly which is the frustrating part actually.

Been a Verizon Wireless / Bell Atlantic customer since 1996, trust me, I have been loyal to you! Any help VZW Loyalty Rep?

Yeah, it's hard to xfer when you have a phone that hasn't finished its contract. They were completely train wrecked when I tried to merge 2 numbers. Your best bet is to pay the money to port your number to Google voice and activate a new line on her plan. It isn't pretty, but won't have you on the phone forever with them. I just pay full price for my phones or get them off eBay because its too frustrating.

In the "testing" menu for Samsung Fascinate, what should be checked for generalized/optimal preferred network type? cdma, gsm, evdo, wcdma, etc... I'm just curious?
Also, is there a different number to call for checkin on Samsung Fascinate? It's *#*#checkin#*#* for my Ally!
Anyone able to answer this?? Any ideas or advice very much appreciated! C'mon, I know someone has the answer to this seemingly simple inquiry?Thanks....
You stated ........ask "Anything"!?!?
I just can't get a definitive answer from anybody?

HeHatesMe, Just another quick question regarding the unlimited grandfathered data. If I wanted to add the Mobile Hotspot feature to my DInc for a month while I am on vacation, would I be able to remove it without loosing the unlimited plan?

Thanks,
BrennanU

HeHatesMe,

My wife's family have been on Verizon for years, in August I joined their plan with a Fascinate. In October we switched the line into my name because I have a work discount that I can apply to the line. At no time did the in store rep warn us that by switching then line's owner would void the existing phone warranties. We found out in November when my wife's droid stopped charging and she went into a store. The store employees told her that the warranties were void but replaced the phone anyways. Recently after updating my phone to the latest patch my phone is almost unusable. It constantly restarts and enters safe mode (never know this existed), do I have recourse to get a stable reliable phone replacement?

HHM,
I just had my bill charge my account yesterday. I have the 1400 Family Plan with text and data. The total bill for 3 phones (including 22% discount on the primary line) was $220. I am going insane with the cost of 3 phones.

I am due an upgrade now, but waiting for a real phone to get. I have 4G service where I am and will be getting a 4G phone when one comes out that is worth it.

Who or where do I call to get something done to lower my bill? I have been a customer for 7-8 years now with no billing or payment issues.

Thanks for answering our questions he! Threads like this keep me coming to this forum opposed to the "other" sites!
My question is what is the average amount of data used on a typical line? What's the threshold before vzw normally investigates?

If I travel out of country and add the global data plan for my trip, will I be able to get back onto 29.99 unlimited domestic when I return?

Or will I have to go to a tier?
