Root Awesome Android Update 4 Released

ok... are you still in the tether program? because these are phone settings not program settings.
youll see starting from the top
wifi
bluetooth
data usage
call
more..

hit more..
then youll see mobile networks

then once you have done all that and gotten it functioning properly, to fix encryption, change the password to something you actually know and make sure the tablet sends the right one

no need to research anything, no need to do anything but turn always on data on and connection optimizer off, then it will work i guarantee it

Where did all the baseball players come from?

Field of Dreams. Brother in-law finally get's it.

More/Mobile network settings ... well, of course, there it is :)

Junkie, how do you do it? I don't think I could find that much patience.

Thanks very much.

Ok so...I have my phone rooted, titanium backup installed, rom manager, and CWM. I have everything backed up and ready to go. I fixed permissions and I have successfully booted rom manager, factory wiped, cache-dalvik wiped, etc...

My problem comes when I try installing the zip from the sd card. What should I be looking for to install, ie what file? I have used the shin 4.0 rom and installed it to the root of my sd card (I think lol). Basically the 3 files I copied are META-INF, system, and boot.img

When I look to install from the sd card however I only see choose zip from sd card or apply sd card update. I choose the zip option and this is the list I get

1. Android/
2. Download/
3. LOST.DIR/
4. META-INF/
5. Notifiacation/
6. TitaniumBackup/
7.clockworkmod/
8. smvvm/
9. system/
****go back****

Any thoughts or advice. Sorry for the noobiness but I have been combing the forum for a few days and tryed fixing it re-booting, re-installing, etc... and can not seem to get this sweet sweet rom to install. Much thanks to any ideas.

Your 9 items fail to show the boot.img file. If it isn't there for running, why?

I haven't heard good things about rom manager.

It's during boot up into recovery in the phone, that you will have the choice, that's given through CWM, to access the sd card at root level to make changes.

So, maybe it's as simple as that. Maybe you un-zipped the folder before you droped it into the sdcard? And maybe you should not?

The instruction on page one are to install zip from sdcard.

Step 1. Download
Step 2. Copy to the root of sdcard
Step 3. Reboot to recovery
Step 4. Make a Nandroid backup (Just in case)
Step 5. do a factory/data reset
Step 6. clear cache
Step 7. Advanced -> clear dalvik-cache
Step 8. install zip from sdcard
Step 9. Enjoy the silky smoothness of Shinjitsu Rom

If you already have shinjitsu installed,
just clear cache and dalvik cache, then install update zip from sd. It is just an update, not a full rom so if you do a factory reset you will have to re-flash the rom

If you have not installed shinjitsu,
follow the first post instructions to get it installed, then follow the above.

In both cases you will need to copy the whole zips to your sdcard without extracting them.

Ok it must be a problem with me not putting the files on the SD card correctly. I have been clicking on the link letting it down load and then I have to open it to copy and paste. There are no other options for me. I don't extract it or anything. It just won't let me do anything other then open it and I copy/paste all 3 files to my phone. I think the main problem is for some reason I cannot see boot.img on my phone once it is in recover. It is on the root of my sd I just cannot access it for some odd reason.

*Nvm, I may have just figured out where I was going wrong and it may be a huge derp da derp.

Thank You so much everyone! First ever ROM flashed to my phone and I've done it. Now to apply the update lol:) Also big thanks to shinru for developing this beast.

I got the update running now and everything is working great.

Just FYI to all those that helped...
The problem I was having was indeed that I was opening the file (unzipping it) and moving the indvidual files to the phone. I realized that all I had to do after the file was downloaded was to go into downloads on my computer and just drag the zipped file over to my sd card, etc... So derp da derp:D Then I it was just a matter of clearing everything from my phone and pc and re-starting.

Anyway thanks again guys for all your help and what you do:):):)

Hi all. First, excuse my poor command of the language (I'm using Google Translate).

Thank you shinru2004 and to all those who put their effort and skills to benefit the community. Thank you very much.

I am a total newbie in Android systems: It took me 5 days to root the phone and it took me 10 days to install the new rom. But finally I succeeded.

I wanted to ask how you have solved the problem of voicemail. Personally I don't like the original voicemail. But what is the solution. Necessarily have to reinstall the original apk? There a substitute that works properly?.

Thank you.

shinru2004 is bringing an update as soon as he can. I believe it will contain the voicemail app to solve that problem ;)

By the way, here is an Antutu screenshot

I love this ROM and it has been great up until now. I m pretty sure that it was me that caused my problem though. I installed Apex Launcher and removed the default launcher and now after 30 of use my RAM fills up and slows the phone to a hault. Does that make any sense? If I do a "factory reset" will will that restore me to a fresh installation of this ROM or to factory ROM?

factory reset only clears your data and any downloaded apps. If you un installed the launcher from the system folder, when you reset you will no longer have any launcher.

Where can I get update 3 at? Its not in goo manager

Edit: just read that it hasn't been released yet.

Can't wait. Thanks

I believe that update 3 is linked on page one.

When I checked, it still takes 10 seconds for the download to start.

Wait for it, then that's the update to use with shinjitsu rom.

Chears.

we can now limit background services and kill apps as soon as you leave them. the options have been unlocked in developer settings. I have lots of other goodies that will make this rom as close to CM10 as you could possibly get
