Root Awesome Android Update 4 Released

I'd like to find and extract a single voice message from Voicemail.

Does anyone know where these audio files reside, and if they are able to be separated out copied, and archived?

A good friend left me a message, than he passed away later that evening. I'd like to have and share his voice with friends.

Thanks.

Can you record it with another app? Or something on your PC? Save as mp3? I dont think the voice mails are stored on the phone, but rather on the server.

Hooking the phone up to the computer is easy, if you have a male to male headphone cord. They can be picked up pretty cheaply at any electronics store.

Plug one end into the headphone jack of the phone and the other end into the microphone port of a computer.

Use a program like Audacity to record the audio from your phone to the computer.

LilBit, Bobdamnit,

Audio capturing externally is probably the way to go.

Didn't think the server-end would be where their kept.

Thanks.

generally voicemails are stored on the server but the program built into stock does download them to the phone for offline playback if im not mistaken. its there somewhere, we just dont know where or what format it is in

Junkie,

That's what I thought also.

I was able to record this voicemail with the Nexus7 Sound Recorder. It ended up being simple. From there into Sound Forge on my PC, for editing.

Thanks for weighing in.

Hi Shin First and foremost i'd like to say thank you for this, i love it. my ZTE warp sequent has never run so well. only issue i have is i cant seem to make my voicemail notifications work. my phone seems to think its a Galexy nexus lol. which i don;'t mind but since i originally set up my boost mobile voice mailbox with my Zte warp signing as a ZTE warp i believe thats my issue. its something i did at some point. any ideas on an app i could use to have a voice mail counter again? or at least to be notified when i have a voicemail? all suggestions are welcome
Thanks! Mavi~~

Heres a little something to tide you over until the new release is out!

Its the new kernel from b09 with my special edits added :) alot of which are Awesome Android edits for the new rom! Enjoy...

Boot.zip

I tried different ways of installation even the one that I used to install awesome android, which is working, but not for the boot.zip file. It downloads and everything but it never goes into the actual phone it just stays in the android image. Please help, and if you have some advice is welcomed :)

its a known issue i have been working on. i think it migh have something to do with removing the boost zone. seems alot of that stuff is tie together but im not entirely sure

I know this is going to sound preachy, .. . believe me though, I don't want to disrespect you or anyone, who's trying to understand and learn.

That said, we ALL, have to decide at some point, to dig in and read ALL THE POST'S, and give up the idea of getting a quick answer. The answer's are usually right there. ShinRus signature in his post's, advices this very idea. It's to save others their time, when their trying to help you. Re-inventing the wheel over and over is so time consuming to them.

ShinRu, has answered this question about the Galaxy Nexus on the last page of this thread (just before this one).

http://androidforums.com/5600414-post781.html

That's Shin's answer to that question.

As far as a "voice mail counter", I think I've grown so used to there being problems from Boost with delivery of phone messages, (they seem to stack up before Boost decides to deliver them to my phone). I'm not familiar with a "counter" so can't talk to that. Maybe someone else will weigh in to answer your question about that.

Good luck.

i might have found a way to finally bypass Visual Voicemail

i also found a way to bypass boost zone for direct dialing 611 on customer service

Thank you for the response and the answer to the galaxy nexus question. By "counter" i just meant the notification that i have a voicemail. in my case "visual voicemail" which it seems shin is already working on a solution to bypass that issue. I don't like or want visual voicemail. i just want my phone to tell me when someone has left a message. I tried using a 3rd party app but it seems boost doesn't allow it. so for now i just check my voicemail a few times a week. small price to pay for such an effeciant rom.

Thanks for making it clear. I wasn't sure, and was guessing, which is a slippery slope.

I think I'd like to be notified when I've got messages as well.:)

ok so i made a new update with the possible VVM bypass, stock boost contacts removes, you can now direct dial 611, #611, and *611, in addition i unlocked wifi tether fully. that is correct wifi tether now works from the menu!!!!! reverted the contacts and mms apps to stock no more black on black. will fix the theme and post the themed apk's for those that want it.

Shin,

Good job delivering the last update to Awesome Android.

I've got a working hot-spot, WI-FI tethering my Nexus 7, to the ZTE Sequent, now, thanks to Junkies instructions and settings. Will going "native", and employing your unleashed tethering, interfere with that, prevent that, or otherwise end that ability?

Sort of a dum-ass question!

Sounds like I'm really saying, I'm afraid to break what's working now, or to have to do some work, to set up again, .... You get my point. Need reassuring. I'm sure it's no big deal.

Thanks for continuing your work on this ROM and this phone.
