I'm always ready for some baseball. I don't get excited about the trades and the signing. In fact, I don't pay any of it much attention. I'll be rooting for the Royals no matter what sort of team they put on the field. I'd like to have another winning season. I'd like to see a bit of post season. I enjoy the game. I don't have to dominate to watch.... which is obvious with me being a long time Royals fan. :)

The baseball package is a must for me. I root for the Royals and they rarely make local TV because they aren't any good. For the last three years, DirecTV has gifted me the package because of my viewer loyalty to them. I will admit it is one of the major reasons I have not moved on. I will wait to see if they are so generous this year, and if not, I'll subscribe. I owe them. Besides, sports is about all I watch and baseball is my favorite sport. Gotta have it!

It's such a time investment, from my perspective. I don't know if I want to spend the whole season "all in."

I understand. Before retiring I had obligations to consume much of my leisure time. Retirement has changed that. I look forward to a home based activity that doesn't represent a great expense and consumes a time that is otherwise short on entertainment. Sports, especially baseball, does well to fill in the gaps.

I'm still hoping against hope the DirecTv will grace me with the baseball package. If not, I'll subscribe. I owe them for gifting me the last three seasons. In trying to get an early baseball fix I have been watching NCAA baseball. I think it's sad that their games are rarely live on TV. I can watch the games on ESPN Plus or watch yesterday's games on ESPN Demand. I don't have a team I give a hoot to root for but I've been watching games for something to watch. I've seen some talent and I've seen some sorry baseball. I saw a pitcher jerked today after he walked one and was walking another. Right in the middle of the at bat they changed pitchers... not hurt... not ejected... just had enough of his lousy pitching. Obviously, the college rules are different. It's better baseball than nothing....

I hope to hear something soon. I'm cheap but I'm not beyond paying. :) I will not be without! The coverage of the DTv package has no preseason or postseason games. I'll catch what is aired. I'm way ready for some baseball.

PSA: For those of us who, like me, are going to shell out 150 dollars for an MLB All-Teams Subscription, if you buy it on Amazon, you can also watch it on your MLB app on TV, or any other device. It doesn't work vice-versa. If you buy it on MLB you can't watch it on Amazon.

Compared to the football package it's a huge bargain. It isn't worth a dime if you aren't a fan of the sport. It would make it an easier purchase at my house if my wife liked sports. She isn't the least bit entertained by a game. I'm no fan of the crime drama shows she watches. We never watch TV together.

All my wife watches is crime / murder shows. Should I be concerned 🤔

Lol, I'm usually watching sci fi or action movies on my phone with earphones on sitting next to the wife who's watching romance movies nonstop.
I guess I'm safe

Have you watched a spring season game where the call at the plate was challenged? It freaked me out so I put the google on it. It's called the ABS Challenge System and it is sponsored by T-Mobile. The ABS system (Automatic Ball and Strike system) is being tried in 60% of the spring training games to get coach, player, and fan response. Each team has two challenges that can only be made by the pitcher, catcher, or batter. Successful challenges are retained but unsuccessful challenges are lost and can't be used again.
I guess it has been used in AAA ball and it only added an average of seventeen seconds to the games. The time that I saw it used (battery tapping his head) the graphic was quickly shown and clearly showed the strike that was called was two and a half inches outside of the strike zone. I wasn't put off by the challenge. If I have to see the strike zone box and the ball path, why not a challenge that took almost zero time? Anyway... I suspect the system will be implemented in 2026 being as it's being tried now and already has a sponsor. And I suspect the challenges will be used in strategic at bats in the later innings with the chance of losing them over a middle inning who cares at bat.

I finally get to watch a Royals spring training game today. Naturally it is an afternoon game that I get to watch tonight. I have been hoping to see my team play a game before the season starts. It seems there is always a Dodgers or Yankees game on. They are playing well this spring and are currently in 4th place in all of MLB which means absolutely nothing as all baseball fans know. They will probably lose today being as I get to watch the game.

I broke down and bought MLB All teams through Amazon. LOL. I can link the MLB apps to it on opening day.
