Root Baseband version "Unknown"

Hey everyone more questions for you. On my phone ever since I rooted it, my baseband version was always "unknown", I was wondering if this was a good or bad thing? Also is there any way to fix this issue? Thanks!

It's a custom rom thing. Up until recently it showed unknown in most custom Roms. Jerry recently found the file that displays the baseband so devs should start fixing this. I know that Jerry has it so you can long press the screen while in backside updater to see your baseband and is supposed to fix the unknown in Backside in the next update or so. I know that mrg666 has fixed it in his MiRaGe rom.

You can also view your current baseband by using a root file browser and going to /sys/devices/system/soc/soc0 and viewing file build_id with HTML viewer

I'm using Bobzhome's CM7 ROM. I really didnt like BACKside :/

And that kinda sucks, *shrug*

If you don't have any issues, don't update the radio. There's some stability issues with iho roms running zv9 (the newest.) I'm running a test kernel by tvall that's supposed to fix it, but it has it's own quirks. Your radio, zv5, is standard for second generation OV's so the update you did didn't take. If you tried the radio only flash of Leslie Ann's over at AC, it doesn't work. We've already determined that. That thread is more about resolving the issues the update caused at this point. If you have good reception, be thankful and don't worry about it.

I agree, stay with zv5 until bug between new radio and IHO roms is ironed out. I installed the full update mainly to try the new root method and of course got the new radio. Wish I hadn't because of the random, irritating reboots that I'm getting.

Same here and I wrote the guide!
The thing is, it's not a bad update for some. There are users who have had a genuine improvement in signal, but they had weaker radios to begin with. Just don't update for the sake of updating.

I updated to ZV9 to try and fix my brick. (It didn't work of course) But it did lead me to writing my guild on how to fix a bricked lg optimus v with s firmware.

Bob may release a sync with CM for his IHO based ROM from time to time in the future, but don't expect any more major updates for his Gingerbread work.

He has been putting pretty much all his efforts into ICS for the past couple of months. He is doing amazing work, and he has been busy, you should really check out his git. His sauce alone has enough changes to clog LT's submission servers. Though he hasn't done much on the frameworks side yet, I'm still excited to see his first ICS ROM in action! ;)

For those interested bobz CM9 alpha has some great things going for it, but it definitely needs work before he could release it to the general public. He would be swamped with support questions and wouldn't have time to work on fixing it. Besides, I assume that he, like all of us, has an actual life and family outside of the digital world.
