Help Battery discussions, maintaining battery life

With all due respect it's obvious you're not using your phone much. You are only using 17% of your screen. The battery was in standby 29% of the time! Which means roughly 30% of the time your battery was doing zip, zilch, nadda! Its a little deceptive, in my opinion, to tout the greatness of the battery when you've essentially left it alone for 12 hours without using it. Just sayin
 
OK, I forgot to do a screen shot before going back on the charger. Today was not as impressive, still a lighter than normal (which many would consider heavy anyway) phone day, forgot to turn wifi back on which could explain todays results, and some downloads.

Hit 28% at 4:05pm, came off charger at 8:30am.
 
Which do you think in terms of battery consumption would be better:

Lookout
Sprint's total protection asurion app (I do pay for their plan)

For Sprint's, I don't like their locate scan which at max is every 60 mins but I do have it set to stop checking at 60% or below.

Of course the main reason I'd want to use either is in case I lose it and can find or lock it.

For that purpose I use Cerberus, which is on Demand locating. Hands down one of my best app purchases.

Also, my battery seems to be getting calibrated, last nights results are pretty good!

I believe "Prey" (which is free and open-source) is activated by incoming texts so the battery impact is minimal.

I tried prey, but I came to the conclusion that cerberus is much more powerful, and it doesn't use power unless you're actively trying to track it.

How long was your screen on, and are you on auto-brightness? I'm more interested in the page you get when you tap the graph on that one.

59% of power used for the screen isn't the same as 59% of the time, the screen was on.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood the purpose of the test. To clarify, it was never to show how good the battery life is on this device.

I thought that i clearly explained that the phone was purposefully not being used (sorry if that was unclear). The purpose of the test was to observe whether there was a difference in power consumption when using the CDMA vs CDMA+LTE options, while the phone was on standby. As You know, when your phone is in standby, and you were in an area with a weak signal, your battery will tend to drain faster than it would in an area with a strong signal (i understand that this is because, while your phone is on standby, it is still using power to try to find a stronger signal). Likewise, the purpose of this test was to find out whether using the LTE option in an area without an LTE signal would cause the battery to drain faster.

I hope my results make more sense to you now. And welcome to the forums!
 
Lately, I've been getting terrible battery life.. I'm not sure why. When I got the phone almost a month ago, the battery life was phenomenal!

Not sure what's eating up the battery. Seems like the screen display is always taking the most of it.. though I have it at a quarter power. :(
 
I used the GPS for like 20 minutes, the top part of the phone got very hot and the battery practically lost 50%. This was with TeleNav. Anybody else have this type of issue?

I use google maps all the time and never have that kind of battery loss for such a short amount of time.
 
Navigation apps tend to be the biggest battery hogs of all time. They typically peg the CPU while heavily using the GPS radio.

Google Nav can also cause overheating and fast battery drain. Installing a vent mount for the phone is a very good idea if you use the nav a lot and for long distances.
 
So being that our phones don't have a removable battery that can obviously pose a problem if we are on the go and the battery is close to dead.

I have seen many people on here reference a portable external charger so I figured I would post this up since I just saw it over on AP.

Its 10,000mAh and only $50. It can even do 2 devices at once.

I think it was in my settings and I am pretty sure it could be done on an unrooted phone. Regardless, it may not be an issue in this new phone. I have 2 gmail accounts and 1 exchange account and that is all I sync besides weather.

In HTC Mail you could set time of day schedules for each account, but I never noticed anything related to screen off, sorry.
