Battery Life

This is from a light use day and a half. The steep drop at the very beginning is from playing GTA 3 with full brightness for a while. Then I slept and woke up and used the phone lightly thoughout the next day wifi enabled. Good to know I don't have to worry about checking my battery level when I'm not even using the phone. This is the 1st 4G phone I've owned with an actual "standby" lol.

this is true this is the only phone that ive seen do this that doesn't lose a lot of battery when not in use its unbelievable what they've done with this phone i was thinking about an extended battery but i dont think its necessary with this phone

Went to sleep last night and accidently overcharged my phone woke up took the charger off then I went back to sleep and woke up to this :D 4 hours and 8 minutes still at 100% in deep sleep mode in in love with it

So far I find it loses 10% overnight. 15% or so if wifi isnt left on and 4G takes over. Rather good for stock, plus I don't go out of my way to save battery life so it could probably be improved a lot.

My Epic 4G wouldn't lose that much (maybe 5%) overnight, but that had a custom rom running. The battery drain when being used however was much higher on that phone. The Motion does pretty nicely on heavy usage. Especially considering how it does things effortlessly that my old Epic would struggle and whine about.

I'm getting really good battery life but occasionally my phone will do weird things, like...I took it off the charger and went shopping. 15 minutes later, I turned it on and it had somehow dropped to 89% (11% in 15 minutes with NO use and bloat gone?!). No idea how/why, unless disabling data connectivity via the "Data Enabler" widget was the culprit.

I don't see how though. That widget got me from a nightmarish 4-4.5 hours of heavy use on my OM, to 12-13 hours.

8 hours on 100% while phone screen is off!? It just keeps getting better and better!

I received 2 motions today and did a little bit of testing (one is my sisters). Both came with 45% battery so the first thing I did was to charge them all the way up. Motion #2 finished a minute or so quicker. I put a 1.4gb movie file on both and played it for an hour an a half. Motion #2 was at 70% while motion #1 at 65%.

It's pretty amazing how there is so much difference just between the same phones. I wanted to clean one up taking apps away and compare it to the other one but they are not even that close to begin with.

Both phones are completly stock, 100% brightness and 65% or so volume for the test.

I guess I'm keeping #2 :)

I think I might have a slight difference with the cameras too but I'm not sure yet. I didn't test them much

@both of you, it must be different firmware, check the max processor speeds that the phones will go. There are definitely 2 versions of the firmware flashed on these phones without a doubt. Just read the intro to my unbrick guide..

Both phones are running at 1.5ghz and everything else seems to be the same

How can I check?

Why would the situation be different than silicon from other companies - clocked reduced decided by yield quality? If you upclock and get freezes, you know why.

Does anyone have a wild guess/remember how long extended battery packs took to come out for another new metropcs phone? This phone will be easier to handle if it was a bit bulkier imo, plus gotta love the 2400+ mah.

There are 2 firmware versions out.....one was LG's mistake....the other is LG's fixed mistake....some phones are clocked Max at 1.2 and others at 1.5.......

Yeah thats the reason it's clocked dif but i was referring to the decision to downclock it by LG - similar to AMD, nvidia, etc with identical chips w. Dif firmware bc some chips fave less errors and can be clocked faster.

I'm at 34% battery, I'm 10 minutes shy of having had my phone in for 12 hours-i took it off the charger at 9:55am.

I have made some calls and used the internet for two hours on Starbucks wifi, other than that I've had data off. But still!

Would all of you recommend this phone , or get some other MetroPCS phone since I will get this today and I hope I dont have blurry pictures and I h ope mine is clocked at 1.5 but i am sure it will be a 1.2 , who cares alot?

I recommend it. The camera thing is actually fixed by changing a setting in the camera app. We have a way to clock it up to 1.5 GHz as well, look in all things root subforum.

Battery def been treating me great, then again I came from the indulge which..... well was a huge battery hog.

Mine lost 90% from 10pm to 7am. I don't have it set to sync/update weather, mail, or any of that. Oddly enough the battery usage chart says my phone is sucking me dry even when it's asleep? Says "Keep Awake" = 3h 2m 34s ????

So you guys that get great battery life what exactly do you do? Any particular settings or apps? I get maybe 8hrs in idle its under clocked to 900 during the day and 400 when screen is off. It started out with great battery then fell off.

Completely stock. Uninstalled as much bloatware as I could without root. Whether it's wifi or 4G my radios are always on as well as gps, background data and email sync.

I don't do much. Make maybe 10 one minute phone calls and surf the Web for a total of 20 minutes.
