Root Beats Audio

EDIT 5/5/12 - Linked to the XDA thread. I honestly haven't messed with this at all lately. It will cause an FC on DSP manager on AOSP, which IMHO basically accomplishes the same thing. I set my equalizer on the "rock" setting and really like the results.

BE SURE TO MOUNT THE SYSTEM PARTITION PRIOR TO FLASHING. I have tried to flash without doing this and it doesn't install. Mount system and flash and you'll be good to go.

I'm not sure how or why this was never posted in this forum, but HTC released the Beats Audio API the other day. I'm no expert on this, but from what I understand, it's more of an equalizer type thing rather than any other kind of enhancement, but I thought you guys would probably be interested. This article explains it better than I can:

Beats Audio XDA Thread

Just flash in recovery like you would any other zip file. Not sure if it's need, but wipe of cache and dalvik would probably be a good idea prior to flashing this.

The download link won't work? Are you using the phandroid app? I never could get links to work on that thing, so I bucked up for Tapatalk and could never go back. I just flashed the file, so it works.

For myself and those who are to scared to ask in the aspect it may make them look dumb. I have a question.

What is the Difference between beats audio and the DSP Manager?

Probably nothing. You're probably a bit limited just because of hardware constraints that the Evo obviously has. I've never even messed with DSP manager.

The xloud didnt really do anything for me.

I have downloaded the beats, I'll listen to the same song for like 10 minutes and then flash it and see if I notice a difference :p

Running anthrax

Whats the word? I've downloaded but haven't installed yet. I do have xloud turned on in mikg 3.1 as well. Any mix up with these?

Do you think I need to reboot to un-enable? I enabled it out of curiosity, if listening to music i usually always use external speakers.
It's just a tweak you can uncheck, it might make you reboot. I never messed around with it. From reading over at themikmik, it makes some of the volumes a lot louder and I don't want to accidentally blow my phone speaker.

hi ya i grabed it a while ago from xda its ok sort of a bass boost i find so really another equalizer...lol another great addition for the evo.

I honestly don't notice much of a difference, but my music collection consists mostly of 70-80's classic rock and not the rap that beats was designed for.

EDIT: Just played "Sexy and I know it" (hey it was googles free song of the day one day, so i grabbed it) and I def notice the song sounds crisper and overall better.

Ok, just installed this. Is it just built into my music player or do i access it somewhere? if it's seperate like dps, where do i find it?

My experience, it wasn't working too well with Xloud enabled. The sound became distorted. It might have been because my phone was sitting on a monitor when I was playing drums earlier too. But I just disabled Xloud and it did well
