Bell Atrix [Canada]

Bell Atrix 4g to cost $599,but wait it's $599 for the phone, then you have to get a contract on a month to month basis for $30 and the activation fee is $35 so with tax your looking at $730!

Am I the only one who thinks this is too expensive for a phone?

Go to bestbuy/futureshop and you'll get it for $599 plus taxes.

We're paying $100 more for this phone from Bell because Motorola allowed exclusive sales through Bell. Since there is no competition for purchase, they are charging more for it and they know we have no choice.

If you can't get it contract free, then get it with a pay as you go account and use that account to trial the phone. Activation fees are waived till March 31.

I don't think Bell allows pay as you go on Smart phones: Bell Mobility - Build your solution- Bell

Maybe though as I'm buying out they would though.

Is anyone excited!!! Bell's ATRIX tomorrow!! :D Who is getting theirs tomorrow? lol I'm getting it on Saturday...so a couple more days of waiting :(

I'm gonna go out to a Best Buy tomorrow and try to buy it outright. I hope they don't give me problems... I hear only the Bell stores should give you problems on an outright buy.
Then I gotta unlock it so I can use it on Telus.

I remember reading either an article or post here where it said that for AT&T, if you are an AT&T customer, when you buy it off contract it's $499 but if you're not, it's $599.

Yup that's my plan if they don't allow me to buy it outright.

The rep I talked to said I was able to get a PAYG activation for the phone. So I hope that's the case. He also said that if you go with the PAYG, there's no activation fee and you get a $15 PAYG credit. So I'm hoping this applies at all Bell stores.

I recommend the Incipio feather..not too bulky and comes with a screen protector !

Agreed. I have the Feather and the Otterbox Commuter. The Commuter is very protective, but is a dust magnet. Hence, I use the Feather. On impulse, I ordered a Body Glove snap-on case with Kickstand: will post some thoughts on it when it arrives. I'm such a case wh*re :D

Pardonne moi? I don't understand your question, lol.

I'm hoping that either BB or Bell is selling the Incipio feather case competitively :D
there is a code floating around to order from Incipio but I am not sure if they ship to Canada. you can get for like $18 US instead of $25

Je m'exuse lol I was asking if there was any blogs/websites from Canada who do reviews on phones ?

shop around online for the incipio case. I was going to buy from radio shack but found a cheap price online like 15 US. shipped.

I am excited about the uncapped radio. With this I hope people from the XDA forums can have what they need to reflash that ATT phones and get us uncapped.

Is it confirmed that the HSUPA is enabled on the Atrix in Canada ?

From the model Atrix I played with at the Bell store, it seems like it. Did a few speedtest.com and got over 1.2 mbps a few times.

Now this is a bummer for us here in the US...
One reason why I didn't get the AT&T Atrix, even though it came out earlier.

what were the upload speeds like ?

Posted it above:
I got 1.5-2mbps upload speed from speednet.com and the rep I was talking to said that he got up to 3mbps UL a few times.

Oh Question: Anyone that has bought a Bell phone on launch day and unlocked the phone, how long is it before you saw 3rd party vendors having the SIM unlock code for sales?

this phone looks very attractive and a "superphone" at that. too bad i'm going to have wait as my rogers contact is not done till jan 2012 with my (antique) lg eve. maybe dec 2011 it will be on for sweeter deal being xmas. has anyone heard if best buy mobile can you break your contract early without to much of a hit to the wallet??

I'm using an unlocked Atrix on Bell. I live in an area (Richmond, BC) where there's a 'full bar' signal. With my Desire Z, i can go up to 6.X down / 6.X down (in Mbps), on average around 4mbps down / 3 up. Atrix is really low at 1.x mbps down / ~100kbps. I'm gonna try a factory reset and see.

Yeppers. I met a guy at a Howard Forums meet a few years ago and have been getting unlock codes from him since then:

premiumunlockcodes@gmail.com

He's local in the GTA .. so you either meet him or send him $$s via EMT. Thus far the best in terms of turnaround time, responses to questions and price. Cheers.

I expect the codes will be available immediately since the phone is already in the servers for the AT&T model. The Bell version will be essentially the same regarding the unlock codes. When I bought my HTC Desire from Telus, I ordered an unlock code the same day I got it, and received the code in 2 days. Since the Desire had been available for months in Europe/Asia I figured it wouldn't be an issue. I don't expect any problems with codes for the Bell model.
:)

thanks :) that's good to know.

How much does he usually charges for the unlock code?
