Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

I tried searching for an answer to this question and haven't found one so maybe you can help me out :)

I'm currently with AT&T and will be switching over to Verizon with the DX release (no worries I'm getting a new number so nothing to port over). If I go through Best Buy and am not satisfied with the DX, am I able to trade it for an Incredible? I know I could do this at the Verizon store and honestly I doubt I'll dislike the DX.....but just thought I'd ask

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer all of our questions!

Are you talking about the NE2 upgrade? How did the credit get put on there? Knowing that might help me find a definite answer.
I wish I knew how it got there, my line is the main line for the family plan and I only found out about the credit when my sister went to get a new phone.

just googled NE2, that is probably what it is, I haven't had a new phone in what seems like forever. I saw they changed it to a $50 dollar credit though (our plan is higher than $79)... I could swear this past christmas at the VZW store he said I had a $100 credit not 50

so assuming it is NE2 for however much it is, can you guys use that credit?

My Incredible screen stopped working after 1.5 months. I had black tie so I took it to Best Buy. It should have been a warranty fix, instead they sent it as black tie repair. That was 3 weeks ago. They "gave" me a loaner phone for $150 deposit (phone so old it is not in the system). With Alltel they would have sent me a replacement within the week and Verizon doesn't seem to do it any differently. I am still waiting for my Incredible back. When mentioning that I would have my phone back if I would have used any one but black tie they defended it as if I was talking about one of their kids. Sorry if you thought I was talking about you. I never saw you as pushing it just the guys in the store, and I thought they stretched the service to make it sound like a good deal. In my opinion any repair/replacement service that keep a phone out of the customers hands for at least a month is not worth it.

Now granted I've never owned a smartphone, but I have had phones where screens went out and phone calls were dropped etc. It was the phone and becuase I had bought protection on my phone line I was never without a phone. If they couldn't fix it in store then they gave me a refurb. I have never onced walked out of a verizon store without my phone working or having a phone to fix it already in the mail.

Did you call a local store, or the 1-888-BESTBUY number? It could make a difference.

The problem is that Best Buy does not know how many phones they will receive from the manufacturer. So even though you preorder the phone, there is no guarantee you will get it on launch day. As phones are received, preorders will be fulfilled in the order they were taken.

This is accurate. Though they use the amount of preorders to allocate each amount to each store, it doesn't mean we will get that number on launch day, just due to supply constraints.

Fortunately, this does mean you will get a phone, it just means that it might not be on launch day.

hello guys,

I was reading through and did the best buy upgrade check online. It says I'm not eligible until march, 2011 but then it says contract end date is 07/06/2010. I was wondering what this means??
I'm going to pay full price for the X(blackberry starting to fall apart).

thx.

That is very strange. This actually happened to me when I did the transfer of liablity over to my name, and I called and they corrected it to the earlier date. I would call Verizon and get that sorted out.

as long as it's within the 30 days of the original purchase, you can exchange it for any phone. Obviously if it's more, then you pay the difference, but since the Incredible and the X are the same price on a new contract, it would just be a straight exchange.

No problem, glad I could help! :)

We went over this a little bit earlier in the thread. Essentially, we can't do a straight NE2 in our system, but if you go and talk to the mobile department, they can apply it to your phone purchase (have to pay the difference first, then we price match it after the sale to match the difference). Just make sure you talk to them about it first, as it's not a normal thing we deal with everyday, and they might have a different way of dealing with it. It's definitly something we can work out though :)

I am number one on the pre-order list at my local BB. My NE2 date is July 15. My question is will BB honor the NE2 price?

I know there is a few people that have done it, it's definitly something we can do, you just have to talk to the mobile department first. Actually, so I don't repeat myself, read the post above yours :)

Essentially, it's up to each Best Buy Mobile, as it's not something we do normally, but it's not out of the question. Since the phone is the same at Verizon as it is at Best Buy for the X, I can't see why not.

New member here. I currently have an Env touch but I WILL be getting the Droid X. MY question though will I be able to get it on the 15th when my upgrade is August 3 2010? The reason I am asking is because of the promotion where if your due for an upgrade in 2010 you can upgrade to the droid x. Well today I went to 2 vzw stores, called verizon and went to best buy and the only people that had even heard about it was the best buy worker (who was very helpful by the way).

In this thread, it's been cleared up that it's not your upgrade date, it's your contract end date that it goes off of. So check MyVerizon.com and see what your contract end date is :)

intersting. because we switched the account over to my brother, and just checked again, and yes it ends on 07/06/2010, its been a year since we changed the name on the account.

does this mean I will be able for an early upgrade? and if i am just call verizon and tell them I want an early upgrade to the X?? and then I can go to BB and buy it there?

thx man :),

so I just checked online and it changed from "contract end-date 7/6/10" to "month to month", on the main account it is now showing phones for 2 year pricing, but for my line its still showing full retail(upgrade isnt till 3/26)
So should i print this out and take it on launch day?? eventhough im not the primary line?

Thats apparently my contract end date to in August

Under the new promotion, you should be good to go if your contract end date is this year. Make sure you tell them before you start the activation and they see it on your account first. There is a different system we have to use :)

Well, if your contract ends on the 6th, you should be able to upgrade on that date.

Which line are you using for the upgrade? You won't need to print it out, it will show in our system. You can always go to Upgrade Checker | Best Buy Mobile: everything mobile - every point of view and see what it says. Are you using another line to upgrade your line?

If you want to go in and do an upgrade, and you are using another line, make sure you are an authorized user on the account. As long as there is an eligible line and you are an authorized user, all is good :)

Spoke with a Verizon rep on the phone but they didnt seem to know much about the phone or any of the current promotions. Did the person you talk to move your upgrade date to July 15th?

They gave me two options.
Pay a $90. EFT
or
Order via Customer SVC and have to use mail in rebate instead of instant.

My early update date is Sep8Th, 4 months before actual contract termination.

In my situation it depends on my patience or the money gods. (mostly the money gods):D

:cool::cool:

I believe they received a memo sunday or monday which said supply was going to be an issue. I don't work at best buy and don't know the details and I suspect that those who do work for best buy are not allowed to comment on it (but don't know). I sort of got a peak at it by looking over someone shoulder; unfortunately they closed it before i finished reading it.

Wow, Best Buy never disappoints me when it comes to shit service and just generally not knowing what is going on.

The lady I talked to when I called to see if they were doing preorders said pretty much verbatim:

"well, our ad says that we are, but um, we're not feeling comfortable taking them. um, its not going to be here on the day it is so.. uh, thats just the way it is."

What any of that means, I have no idea. I didn't care to question her any further.
But I'll predict that Verizon screws this one up even more than the Incredible shortage mess. It makes no sense that Best Buy is the only place supposedly doing preorders.

yea things seem mixed at the local store I visit. The manager seems to know his stuff (not an expert but seems reaonable). However, I stopped in sunday to check something and the dude over there knew nothing at all. The real problem is to cover his lack of knowledge he started making stuff up (he iddn't know the droid x was a smart phone and didn't know the city we lived in did not have 4g coverage and similar). Anyways I can understand the disparity in knowledge and character its the same in all positions. Over my year I've run into some sprint customer care folks who were great and knew there stuff and others who were complete crap (some sale dude decided to add $500 to my bill and it took 4 calls to get it removed; long story that still pisses me off). The same is true with any company; lots of folks have complaints with verizon business practices as well as at&t. Sometimes it comes down to individual who do rotten things as oppose to corporate policy. Anyways I will say that the circuit city in my home town was great with extermely knowledgeable and helpful folks but the one i visited when living in CA was awful. So far I've been really happy with both the BB and verizon folks on this thread; they are providing information which to me seem relatively reasonable and straight forward. Ultimately whatever happens on the 14th or 15th I understand that only part of the picture is under BB control and part is not (i.e, what they do if they receive the phones; or what happens if the phones don't show up).

:( I never enjoy hearing these stories, as it hurts not only the local store, but the Best Buy Mobile brand as a whole. I want to stress though that this is not a picture of all the Best Buy Mobiles, as I know my store, along with many of the Best Buy Mobiles i've visited have been the opposite of this. I know there have been comments in this thread displaying the complete opposite of this as well. Still, hearing that even one is not meeting these standards is still disappointing. There are ways to help us improve though, one is on your receipt, there is a website at the bottom with a survey you fill out, if you need to express your experience I would do it there, as the managers are always looking at those :) Also, generally there is a sign on your way out that has the Store managers email address, which I would use to bring attention to the way things are being handled. I hope that helps :)

On preorders:
Well, we are doing them, but stressing to the customer that it doesn't guarantee them one on launch day. The reason we do preorders is to guarantee the customer one in the store, so they don't have to go wait in line outside a store, so they can go on with their day and when we call them they can come in and get it :)

Again, apologies for your experience, I hope I have helped though :)

When I read that the sku was in the system I called my store to ask what the 1yr price was and she said it wasn't in there yet. I'm going to work tonight, so I'll check for myself

Its in the ad. That's the clue ;)

This should be fine, but I would ads the new line first and then cancel the other line after, just to make sure there isn't any snags. Lay your questions on them :)
