Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

Nice. Pretty crazy that they don't know.

I don't think I'll be buying from them if the price is too much higher than the 269 for the Incredible on Verizon's site. Surely the X will be about the same.

I haven't seen a consistant pricing difference, so it really depends. The SKU is in our system now, so I will check the next time I go in.

if BB wont let me to do early update or current upgrade..

what im doing to do... buy full price for that X at best buy and go on online from verizon and order X there because Verizon told me that i can order X online for early upgrade

so i get X from BB and wait til Droid X from verizon shipped and arrives then i will return other X at BB so i get money back

what do you think ya :) so i can use X for while til other X from verizon arrived so i dont have to wait longer

Go in and talk to your Mobile department, have them check your account to see what it says. If you fall under the early upgrade, they will see it and can do the upgrade accordingly. Make sure you go in and check though.

Am I passing on bad info about a shipping delay of the DroidX.
I have a thread started on theDroidX home page.
Can you verify this please so I can correct myself if ,hopefully wrong.

Thank You

:cool::cool:

Ps, Same rep said 1 year will $269.00

I work for VZW Corporate Retail so I thought I'd chime in to help Aookay out. As far as .....

I do have a question for the VZW corporate retail guy - my company provides for our voice and data service since we do a lot of work outside the office, and I'd like to purchase a replacement phone on my own (i.e. not bug them about paying for the upgrade).

If I buy the new droid x at full retail and bring it into the VZW store along with the old phone, will they transfer the service to the new phone? I obviously know the phone number, but don't know the account password. Since I'm not extending the contract, or getting any upgrade discounts, I was hoping not to have to get the info. from my company.

So what do I do?

Bought the incredible June 12th. Plan on returning it sometime this week. I don't have a vzw phone to hold my number, so I'd have to cancel the whole line altogether since it was a new line.

I want to just do a simple exchange but July 15th is a couple of days later than my 30 days. Should I preorder through BB or just go to the verizon wireless store right next to best buy and eat the rebate time? Plus i'm sure the employees there wouldn't be too happy about me returning the incredible to upgrade.

Aookay....... you mean mobile department at BB
should i go there before X released or wait that day on 15th?

i did checked on program from best buy eligible program to see if i can upgrade now and it said i cant until nov my upgrade date.... but it didnt say anything about early upgrade now

so i will go inside BB and talk to them and see what going on

Yeah.. unfortunately unless you are authorized on the account to do changes, they will not activate the X on your line. Try to talk to your boss about getting you authorized onto the account. I honestly don't see it being a big deal to do an ESN swap, but they are very strict about security on corporate accounts.

To access your account you will need either last 4 of social or tax id and password (if there is one). If its a business account then its the tax id. If you can get that you can do it yourself. Turn off your old phone, turn on the new one, dial *228, option 3. It will ask you to enter the info you need. It will automatically change the phone on your line.

Why are the best buy people pushing Black Tie when they know it is an inferior service? And why wont they admit it?

Do you have some kind of facts to back up a statement like that? Perhaps some kind of compaison with others.

Please explain to us how it is inferior so that we can know. Afterall....an informed shopper is a smart shopper.

Right now, the price of Black Tie depends on the price of the phone.

There are NO deductibles

Unlimited amount of repairs (which are free)

You have a choice to purchase a loaner phone while the phone is being repaired

If phone can't be repaired you can normally just get a new phone instead of a refurbished phone. This isn't the case at all stores. Sometimes you still get a refurb if any are available. If not, brand new phone right out of the cabinet. Our store really does what they can to make the customer happy which is why we try to give them the best phone possible and not some crappy refurb. Its really up to management

Only thing the carriers have over Black Tie is loss/theft, but I very rarely see people come in that say they lost their phone. It happens, but more times its damage and not loss/theft. Like I said though, come Sept things might get interesting.

Why are the best buy people pushing Black Tie when they know it is an inferior service? And why wont they admit it?

I'm sorry, but I just answered questions about the black tie service that were asked in the thread, I never "pushed" it at any time. I also said its not the perfect solution for every person, but the option is there to get it for the people it does.

There are pros and cons to every type of protection for your phone out there. If you believe its inferior, then its not for you :)

Am I going to admit its inferior? No, because its not, its a great service, but not ideal for every persons situation.

This is a Best Buy thread, so it was bound to be mentioned. I hope that answered your question, I apologize if you felt I was "pushing" it, but I strongly disagree.

i checked out BB online for mobile upgrade checker..... and it said i unable to upgrade til November but they didnt say about if i can get early upgrade or anything? so should i go inside the store and talk to mobile department and see what they can do?

I have a couple of more questions (after lots of reading):
The verizon representative said that BB contract for the phone is different from verizon; is this the case and if so different how ? He strongly suggested I 'read the fine print'. I recognize that they are paid via commission and might have influence his comments hence the question.

In general of sprint, tmobile, verizon which do you get the most/least complaints from your customers. I realize that every provider have horror stories and issues related to service is also regional so it is hard to tell if verizon is any worse than my current provider (sprint). I did see that a year ago a bunch of blackberry users were pissed because verizon repeatedly pushed a bing app but it appears that the droid was spared this incident.

If it matters I in boston proper (near aquarium for those familiar with the area)

Yeah, it wouldn't say it in the upgrade checker due to it being a promotion and they don't actually move up your upgrade date (which is what upgrade checker does). You would have to go in store and have them check your account.

Wow, this is the second time I've heard a customer say the carrier told them we have our own contracts. This is not true, your contract is through whatever carrier you choose. Maybe they meant the price of the phone is different in BB than at Verizon???

Our contracts are directly from the carriers. We don't have anything different aside from the return policy (30 days through us, no restocking fee,). I know some third parties are different, like wirefly that you have to keep the phone on the line or whatever, but not us in that respect.

I generally get the most complaints from t-mobile, even though we don't carry them. I don't think there is one consistant company I get complaints from other than that. Most of it is something that happened on their bill, charges or the such, that they wern't able to clear up. Reception issues I usually hear the most from ATT customers, but what I have learned about with complaints is that the people who don't like something will be the most vocal. If a customer comes in and loves something, they generally will be in the minority if they come in and tell me :)

So to answer, T-Mobile =/

just registered, the site seems like an awesome resource.

I have a $100 credit on my account that I can use towards an upgrade with Verizon.
Would I be able to use that at a Best Buy store? I'm not sure if that's something you guys can or can't deal with.
It would be really nice to have that and also not deal with the rebate.

thanks for answering all the questions, pretty much sold me to go to Best Buy first and try to get it, so good job!

Couple of info questions...

Does the DroidX need or come with a stylus ?

Is there or where is the soft reset button that most phones have ?

Thanks
