Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

hey Aookay,
if i add another family share line to get the droid x do i have to add the data plan at best buy? im just going to switch the X over to my main line to use which has a data plan. and put a razor on the new line i get with the X.

thanks.

You will have to add the data plan as soon as you activate the phone. You can cancel the plan tho once you put the razr on that line

How much will the Black Tie be for the X? And will the current promotion for the extra points for getting an android phone be around next week?

It should be $9.99, thats what it is for the Evo, Incredible, Droid, etc... As far as the promotion goes, I'm always under the impression that prices and promotions change every Sunday unless otherwise posted.

I preordered yesterday at my Bestbuy. They told me I was around #10, and that they'd call to schedule the pickup. Is there a way I can find out for sure that thwy get enough stock in? As in, can I call the morning of the 15th and be able to find out if they recieved enough? If they get in less than they have preordered, I need to make some alternate plans.

They will call you the day before, if not sooner. If they haven't called you before the 15th, I would say they didn't get enough. Most stores close at 9, so you can always give them a call the night before if they haven't reached you yet.

Yes, the data plan is needed for the activation. When you switch it over, however, the data plan will fall off the old line and go to the line you have the X on, and the razr won't have to keep that data plan :)

9.99 a month or...160 for two years I believe (if paid in full at the time or purchase).

That is a great question, let me check into that for you tomorrow :)

that promotion has been going on for a while. It's crazy. Premier silver ftw!

bit confused on the 1yr price. At verizon it is $369 but you do get the $100 rebate. Above you mentioned $350; but no rebate; so at best buy it cost $100 more?

Also if I buy this phone but after 3 weeks decide it is not for me (but I have used it) what condition does the phone need to be in? What I mean by this question is that obviously it cant' be abused or broken but I will be using it so it might pick up some lint and whatever normally happens in 3 weeks. My intention is to keep the phone but not having time to play with one in advance (have a trip on the 16; hence I want a smartphone for email et all while traveling) I might discover that (for example) the hump just doesn't work for me. Also there will be a certain temptation with the fascianate/capitvate being released in the 30 day window.

I called my BB yesterday that i preordered from and they said they wont be calling anyone until the 15th to setup appts to come in and get them. So they may not call the day before.

It's 369 after the mail in rebate, so bringing it to 269?

Then yes, it would be 100 dollars more if that was the case. The pricing for the 1 year hasn't been confirmed yet, we are still waiting on it, earlier was just a guess :)

As long as there is no damage done to the phone, no cosmetic damage, or the phone ceases to function, you can return/exchange it within the 30 days. Just be careful with the phone =P

Our Motorola rep came in yesterday, so I got to play with the phone for a bit, and the hump is really not even noticable. The only time I remembered it was there was when I made a call, and it seemed to help stablilize the phone to my head.

BTW, the phone is amazing, can't wait till the 15th! :D

That's strange, but I guess everyone does it different. We call as soon as we have the stock.

Thats what i thought too. I went on the second day of the first presale. I know there cant be that many people in front of me for the preorder but i live a little ways away from my closest best buy. Anyway i can show up on the 15th and have them give me my phone without making an appt? I know they just dont want everyone showing up at once but seriously.

You can but it's usually not recommended, because when we do the appointments, we have a set schedule for everyone to come in. With this, you might have to wait for the appointment people to get their activations done, and the point of the scheduling is to make sure you aren't there waiting, and you know what time to come in.

So you can, but I would honestly just wait for the call, so you don't have to wait a long period of time there. Unless you are planning on spending some time at best buy...making it a day out, play with the iPad...watch some 3D TV =P

I got ya. What if i cant make my appt time is all i am wondering? And how long does it honestly take. Let me pay you for my phone and i can leave and do the rest on my own. You can activate a phone to any line. BTW i am doing a buddy upgrade to get this. I have done this many times before not with best buy but with either the local vzw store or ordering online and i can do everything else myself, i just need the device.

Just curious because i never dealt with BB for a cell phone before and i just dont see in my area it being all that crazy or crowded. What all happens when you get there for an appt with a preordered cell phone??

Thanks again Aookay; hopefully price with 1yr contract will be known before the 15th :)

Yea the phone sounds great but first time I purchase something without first trying it; unfortunately release date and travel plans meant either getting it on the 15th or waiting a couple of weeks...

If you can't make the appointment time, as long as you have one for the day, you could just call them and say you are coming in early. Typically they can accomodate (sp) you to fit you in. It really depends on the time you come and how busy we are. For example, on EVO launch day we have a few people come in before their appointments, but we had our EVO appointments and people who just walked in to take care of too, so the wait was a pretty long.

The process itself (with an alternate upgrade) does not take very long, I was referring to us just being busy and getting to you. People that there on their appointment time are priority usually, from what I have been told. (this makes sense, because why make an appointment if you have to wait? Might as well be at the dentist office..lol)

Well, if you have an appointment, we sit down with you, run the activation through our system (make sure to let them know you are doing an alternate upgrade of course), and then activate the phone. We don't have to do anything more than that, but typically we like to spend time after showing you some tips and how to use the new features of your phone. But, since you are on the forums, I am guessing you can handle it all quite well :)

For me, at least, being a phone nerd, I always want to spend some time telling them how awesome their phone is and how they can make the most out of it! :D

...unless it's a windows mobile phone

I kid I kid!
